Overall Objectives of the Trust
To promote the benefit of the residents of Bishops Green & the immediate neighbourhood, without distinction of gender, race, sex, political, religious etc. To be achieved by associating together the residents & local authorities, voluntary & other organisations in an effort to provide facilities with the object of improving the conditions of life for all residents.
Objectives of the Trust for 2022-23
To maintain, improve and manage the village hall.
To promote the hall as a venue for activities/events for residents
To secure funding to keep the youth club open and employ a part-time centre manager.
Achievement of Objectives of the Trust for 2022-3
BGCA has had no major building expenses this year. Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council has repaired the roof.
A monthly bingo evening run by BGCA began in autumn 2022 and this is proving very popular.
A monthly church event began at the start of 2023.
Private party bookings have been steady throughout the financial year 2022-3.
Homestart NW Hampshire continues to run its weekly (term-time only) toddler group.
Our two long standing weekly tenants (music group and martial arts group) ceased trading in our area. This has had a significant effect on finances.
Funds were secured to enable the youth club to continue running through the financial year in part from the three-year funding package received from Greenham Trust.
Funds have been promised by Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council, Sovereign Housing and Greenham Trust to cover a one-year part-time coordinator post for the hall. We hope to appoint someone during the summer of 2023. Partial funding has been promised for a further 2 years.
There are plans to seek funding to refurbish an office to create a wellness centre to be hired out to professionals such as hairdresser, nail technician, sports physio, massage therapist.
There has been a minor change in the reporting this year. In previous reports our General Reserve Fund Allocation (£10,700) has not been counted in reserved monies. The only reserved monies noted have been grant monies for specific projects. The largest of these is the project to run our youth club which receives intermittent donations throughout the year.

Independent Examiner’s Report to the Trustees
I report on the Accounts of the Community Association for the year ended 31 March 2023 which are shown below.
Respective Responsibilities of Trustees and Examiner
The Charity's Trustees are responsible for the preparation of the Accounts. The Charity's Trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year (under section 43(2) of the Charities Act 1993 (the 1993 Act)) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:

Examine the Accounts (under section 43(3)(a) of the 1993 Act):

To follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners (under section 43(7)(b) of the 1993 Act); and
-
To state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of Independent Examiner's Report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the Accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the Accounts and seeking explanations from you as Trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently, I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the Accounts.
Independent Examiner's Statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention.
