The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to: examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act; to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act; and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Respective responsibilities of trustees Independent Examiner :

An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair view' and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Basis of independent examiner's
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention
Independent examiner's statement :
(1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:
to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act; and
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act have not been met; or
(2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

Activities and Achievements
Activities and achievements of the The financial results are set out on pages 1 through 3 above. charity during the year in relation to
the objects : Activities
Bridge Church Horwich is regularly open three day a week, on Sundays for the 10.30am Worship Service and Kids Church, every other Tuesday when we host our daytime Life Group and then each Wednesday where we hold Community Cafe and our Mums and Tots group in the mornings and welcome a local dance group rehearsal/practice in the early evening.
Once a quarter we hold a Messy Church service, which is a very familyoriented service and attracts many local families with children. These services are followed by food and have proven to be a great success.
As well as the Tuesday Life Group, we also have Tuesday night and Wednesday night groups. Life groups meet fortnightly and are an ideal place where members can come together in a relaxed manner, have fellowship, build relationships, share life together and to study God's Word.
We also have regular Men's Nights and Women's Night, which usually involves a meal or similar activity in a setting which allows new members to get to meet church members in a very relaxed and informal setting.
There are also regular teaching series, which are usually run in conjunction with Bridge Church, Bolton, where we are able to dig a little deeper into scripture. These courses can be aimed at new Christians or those starting to explore their faith (such as Alpha) whereas others can be much more focused on certain areas of the Bible, and which are aimed at those who wish to understand the Scriptures better.
The church also runs practical courses to help meet the needs of the community. There is a CAP debt coach based in Horwich who is present at our Wednesday morning Community Café days. Clients are seen by appointment but there is also opportunity for drop-in clinics as well. We also have regular visits from energy advisors who give practical advice (and sometimes free gifts) to help people reduce their utility bills.

Achievements
2022 has seen a very significant period of growth at Bridge Horwich. Congregation numbers have risen steadily throughout the year and regularly reach 50+ (and have been as high as 100 for certain events). We now make provision for any children attending church by holding Kids Church whilst the main service is taking place.
As a result of the increase in congregation size there has been a marked rise in the level of giving. Total Income rose from £22.8k in 2021 to £60.7k in 2022. This income has allowed us to make some much need repairs and improvements to the building, including replacement of the boiler system (along with upgrade of a good deal of pipework), new emergency lighting and a full overhaul of the electrics in the building.
Plans were started in 2022 to redevelop the outside space following some designated giving received in June and two grants. The vision for how this outdoor space would look was brought to the trustees and during 2023 all elements of the transformation were completed with planters, an archway, seating areas, artificial grass and decorative fence coverings. As at the time of this report the community garden has been officially opened and being enjoyed by all.
The property of Rock Street, Horwich, Bolton was last valued by Lamb and Swift Commercial on 28 May 2010. The open market value was estimated at £295.000. The mortgage secured against the building was fully repaid in early 2021 and the church is now fully debt free.
