Summary of the main WEST COAST IS PROUD TO BE A WELCOMING CLUB AND achievements of the charity ACCOMMODATES ALL ABILITIES (NEWLY INJURED/FIRST TIMERS/EXPERIENCED GB PLAYERS) during the year OUR CLUB OFFERS MORE THAN JUST AN OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY WHEELCHAIR RUGBY, FOR SOME IT IS A KEY SOCIAL ACTIVITY. WE ENSURE ALL OUR PLAYERS CAN PARTICPIATE WITH SUPPORT FROM THE CLUB WITH: EQUIPMENT, TRAVELLING AND TRAINING COSTS. ENSURING THAT ALL PLAYERS GET OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY COMPETITIONS HOME AND AWAY. THIS SEASON WE HAVE SUPPORTED SOME OUR MEMBERS TO TRAVEL AWAY FROM HOME FOR THE FIRST TIME, WHICH IS HUGE IN BUILDING THEIR CONFIDENCE AND INDEPENDENCE. OUR MEMBERS COME FROM A RANGE OF AREAS AND WE CONTINUE TO HAVE COMMITTED PLAYERS. WE CONTINUE SUPPORTING OUR PLAYERS TO DEVELOP AT A LEVEL THAT SUITS THEM, WE HAVE 3 TEAMS: ENTERED INTO DIFFERENT LEAGUES THIS ALLOWS DIFFERENT GAME PLAY OPPORTUNITIES. 1 TEAM PLAYS IN THE PREMIERSHIP, SO HAS THE HIGHEST LEVEL GAME EXPOSURE AND 2 OUR TEAMS PLAY IN DIVISION 1, WHICH IS A GOOD BUT DEVELOPMENTAL LEVEL. WE SUPPORTED OUR DIVISION ONE TEAM TO GO OVERSEAS AND EXPERIENCE A EUROPEAN COMPETITION. AGAIN THIS WAS SOME MEMBERS FIRST TIME TRAVELLING OVERSEAS SINCE ACQUIRING THEIR INJURIES, SO WAS GREAT TO SUPPORT THEM IN THOSE OPPORTUNITIES. WE CONTINUE TO ATTRACT NEW PLAYERS AND WE STRIVE TO GAIN FUNDS TO HELP ASSIST NEW PLAYERS WITH CHAIR COSTS OR ENSURING THERE IS A CLUB CHAIR THEY CAN USE. WE HAVEN’T NEEDED TO PURCHASE ANY ADDITIONAL CHAIRS THIS YEAR. HOWEVER HAVE RENEWED WHEELS AND OTHER EQUIPMENT FOR PLAYERS TO ENSURE THEY CAN PARTICIPATE. WE PROVIDE TYRES/TUBES FOR REPAIRS ENSURING ALL OUR PLAYERS GET THE SAME OPPORTUNITIES TO PLAY RUGBY BY FINANCIALLY SUPPORTING TRAINING/COMPETITION COSTS AND BEEN INCLUSIVE TO ALL WE HAVE BUILT A GOOD CONNECTION WITH OUR LOCAL VENUE AND COMMUNITY, INCREASE IN VOLUNTEERS AND LOCAL SUPPORT. WE ARE HOPING TO DO SOME LOCAL EVENTS TO EDUCATE YOUNG PEOPLE ON DISABILTY AHEAD THE PARALYMPIC GAMES. We now also have returned to a second weekly training session.

Independent examiner’s report to the trustees of the North West Wheelchair Rugby – 1070676

I report on the accounts of the company for the year ended 30 April 2023, which are set out on pages 2 to 3.

Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner

The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (the Charities Act) and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to:

examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act,
to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the Charities Act), and
to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

Basis of independent examiner’s report

My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair’ view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

Independent examiner’s statement

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention

(1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in, any material respect, the requirements:

to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act;
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Charities Act have not been met; or

(2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
