Corporate Donors and Volunteers
The trustees would like to thank everyone who has supported them throughout the year, in particular those members who organise and help out at events. These events are fun for everyone but take a great deal of work behind the scenes, and would not happen if it wasn’t for the dedicated parents and staff who give up their time to ensure that we raise money and community spirit for the school.
Financial Review
The trustees are pleased to share that the 2023/24 academic year has been another strong year for fundraising, despite a slight decline in the total amount raised (excluding grants received). Thanks to the dedication and careful planning of event organisers, gross profit of £18,271 and net profit of £18,057 remained in line with previous years (2022/23: £19,173 gross profit and £18,915 net profit), reflecting a thoughtful approach to cost management.
The total amount raised (excluding grants received) was £23,681, compared to £26,238 in 2022/23. This decrease was primarily due to the timing of sponsorship payments and slightly lower proceeds across most events.
Our most successful events continue to be the Christmas Fayre (£5,477; 2022/23: £5,550), May Fayre (£4,689; unchanged from 2022/23), and the July BBQ (£1,499; 2022/23: £1,632).
We are also delighted to see new initiatives making a positive impact, with the Christmas and Easter wreath-making evenings raising £921 and £331, respectively.
Grants issued to John Hampden School have been used to buy additional resources as set out at the AGM. Overall spend was lower than planned with less money being spent on the playground equipment and the Y2 Canopy area.
The schools wish list for the next academic year 24-25 is as follows:
-
Storage for new Y2 Outside area
-
Peddle Bikes for EYFS
-
Curriculum Resources
The trustees are confident that the targets set for the next academic year 24/25 are achievable with the introduction of a few new events, such as the Quiz night, fundraising should remain consistent with this year’s results.
Reserves policy and Reserves
The policy of the charity is to maintain unrestricted reserves, which is cash available at a level which equals the amount of capital needed to cover the charity’s outgoings and to set up and organise a fundraising event (approx. £3,000).
The funds in excess of those held in line with the reserves policy, which totaled £6,319 at 31 August 2024, are expected to be utilised to support the charity’s objectives during the next year.
Approved by the trustees on 17[th] September 2024 and signed on their behalf by:
