TRUSTEES. ANNUAL REPORT
YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2022
The trnstees, some of whom are also Directors for the purposes ofthe Companies Act. have pleasur¢
in presenting their report and the unaudited financial statements of ihe Charity for the year ended 31
March 2022.
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
The principal objective of the Charity is to provide job5 and training for deprived communities
through the provision of services meeting community need. Our services during the year were the
provision of childcare through our Treasures NeighlN)urhood Nursery. Coupled with this s¢rvic¢ we
also offered jobs and training to local people wishing to pursue a career in childwe.
SUMMARY OF THE MAtN AcrtVlTIES iINDERTAKEN FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT
IN RELATION TO THESE OBJECTS
We have refeTred to the guidance contained in the Charity Commission's general guidance on
public benefit when reviewing our aims and objectives and planning future aciivities. In particular
the trustees consider how planned activities will contribute to the aims and objectives they have

ACHIEVEl¥tENfs AND PERFORMANCE
Govern2nee 2nd Management
Th¢ year ending March 2022 was a particularly difYi¢ult one for the nursery and saw a great
deal of chang¢ as regards to sta(fin8 and in particular th¢ ¢hang¢s in Trustees with many
choosing to st¢p down in December 2021.
Having been contacted by the I￿1 authority Ma￿re¢ Mason OBE agreed to step in and assist
in the running of th¢ nurs¢ry which was experiencing significant challenges with incre&s¢d
costs and falling revenues.
Performance of Charity
In the March 2021 account5 reference is made to reserves sufficient to allow the orderly wind
down of the business however after a full review by the new trusttts and with the support of the
remaining trustees it was decided that with additional support the situation ￿Uld indeed be turned
around.
It was quickly established that the principle barrier to increasing revenues was the poor state of
the nursery and to this end Children l Nurseries of which Margaret Mason is the CEO provided
considerdble support in the form of both monetary and consultancy s¢rvic¢s establishing industry
best practices which included new IT package5 &5 part of th¢ wmpl¢t¢ refvrbishment of the
nursery.
It was also necessary to rationalize some of the costs and a fvll review was undertaken whi¢h
unfortunately result¢d in the r￿u¢ll0n of som¢ staff members which was unavoidabl¢ if the
business was io recover.

FINANCIAL RISKS
Following review of the finances the furlough provision was found to b¢ unnecessary and
released into the current year and that all remaining liabilities are covered in the year end
provisions.
Th¢ charity has been fortunate in that our landlord WM Morrison has ￿ntInued to support the
Charity and ha5 agreed that providing the service charges are r¢mitted in full the rent free ￿rIOd
will ix extended to the completion of the lease in May 2024 for which the trustees would like to
nv¢y their gratitude.
PLANS FOR THE FUllJRE
We believe passionately thai the fiTSt five years are crucial in the healthy development of children
and our ethos in this r¢gard is to involve our parent5 and carers encouraging strong relationships
with them.
This year we will b¢ seeking partners to Work together to achieve our vision and giving Staveley
children, especially those most in need the best start in life by providing affordable early years
education.
We would like to tske this opportunity to thank the trustees for their ¢ontinu¢d support and
d¢di¢aiion, we look forward to providing exemplary childcare prioritiz¢d for struggling families
adapting as required.
We would also like to thank Children l Nursery and WM Morrison for the considerable support
shown by them which has allowed the necessary breathing space for the charity to move fotivard.
