The aim of The Tracy Sollis Leukaemia Trust is to relieve sickness, suffering and distress of those diagnosed with leukaemia and similar blood related disorders. The Trust achieves this by providing complementary therapy for patients, purchasing laboratory equipment for life saving research and inviting Grant applications for patients experiencing financial difficulty. Callum also continues as a volunteer to provide excellent IT support which involves managing The Trust’s website and design features. ## **New Trustee** We are delighted that Mr Glenn Robinson accepted the role of Trustee on 5/8/24 ## **AGM** The Trust’s AGM was held on Monday 10[th] June 2024 at Wallace House Community Centre with refreshments provided by ‘Working World. There was a good turnout with approximately 30 people in attendance. A power point presentation was made by The Trust’s Founder Member Sue Sollis who spoke mainly about the benefits of Vein Finders being donated to many Hospitals and G.P. Surgeries by The Trust. Many leukaemia patients and their immediate family suffer from financial hardship following diagnosis resulting in a change of circumstances. The Trust continues to assist by awarding Grants normally of £350.00. The Grant may be used for hospital travelling costs, extra home heating costs or anything else that enhances the care and wellbeing of the patient. Grant application Forms are available at The Trust’s shop and headquarters Library Arcade, 62, High Street, Evesham, WR11 4HG or may be downloaded from the website www.tracysollistrust.org. All applications require validation and a signature from the patients G.P, Consultant or a CNS. The Trust continues to provide complementary therapy to patients on Worcester Royal Hospital Laurel 3 Ward. Complementary Therapist Carrie-Ann Adams is funded by The Trust and is highly valued as she has a special understanding of leukaemia. Carrie was a former leukaemia patient who underwent a successful bone marrow transplant. Being experienced in this field Carrie can fully relate to a patient’s concerns and worries. Not only does she provide Complementary Therapy but also a listening ear. This can make such a difference as nursing staff have very little time to spend with patients. During the year of 2024 the total of patients seen by Carrie was 349 with an expenditure of £9,540.00. During the year The Trust became aware that there are patients living at home who in between their hospital treatment would greatly benefit from Complementary Therapy offered. This resulted in the Trust recruiting Debbie Humphries as an extra therapist who would fulfil this need. There were 5 visits outside a hospital environment made with the overall cost of £175. Page **2** of **8** For many patients and nursing staff alike, trying to locate a vein can be a distressing and difficult event. The Accuvein is an advanced piece of equipment which can make a tremendous difference to the procedure with the first purchase by the Trust made in 2021. This was for use in Worcester Royal hospital. The highly positive feedback from Worcester Hospital led to this being a huge project undertaken. In 2024 The Trust supplied twelve at a total grand cost of £58,523.75. Hospitals require a portable stand to go with the devise which enables them to be transported up and down the ward. ## **A Big Thank You to our Supporters** **The Gordon Giltrap & Carrie Martin Concert** took place at the Henrician Theatre, Evesham on 1[st] June 2024. It was a huge success raising the record figure of £2,136.00. A huge thank you Prince Henry’s High School for providing such a wonderful venue. Both Gordon Giltrap and Carrie Martin were highly impressed with the superb lighting and acoustics. **Evesham Operatic and Dramatic Society E.O.D.S** bared all when they staged Calendar Girls at the Henrician Theatre. It was a brilliant and daring performance with The Tracy Sollis Leukaemia Trust being a beneficiary. The Trust received the wonderful amount of £1,245.00. **Leedway Social & Bowls Club** supported The Trust by getting together to organise a Charity Barbeque Hawaiian Evening. It went extremely well raising an impressive £600 donation. **Boat Lane Brewery, Offenham** also showed their support with a Quiz Evening raising £90.00. Thank you. **The Bretforton Flower Show** Car Park Marshalling raised £159.07 in donations. A big thank you to volunteers, Will and Lewis for manning the car park. **Fleece Inn Formula 1** Each year this Event is kindly organised by Martin Hunt to which we very gratefully received. £355.00. Due to Sue having had a TIA (mini stroke) van deliveries were suspended for 3 months with the occasional volunteer able to step in. Page **3** of **8** ## **Shop Income** The shop income received a severe blow when on the morning of 20[th] January Sue Sollis arrived to find shop 5 completely flooded with water shooting everywhere. It was so bad that the Fire Brigade was called. The cause was a burst pipe from the unoccupied building above. So severe was the damage that stock and fittings were completely ruined and trading had to cease for a total of 5 months. The year’s total income during 2024 for the two shops amounted to £66,542.60. This was a sharp **downfall of £17,468.21** on the previous year due to the loss of trading time. It has proved highly disappointing that The Trust is still awaiting compensation for this. The Trust intends to continue providing Vein Finders for the medical profession as they make such a huge difference towards enhancing the treatment and care of patients. It also wishes to continue in providing complementary therapy for patients and grants for those in need. ## **Summary** The year of 2024 has undoubtedly been the most challenging time in the Trust’s history. The flood damage to shop 5 has caused a huge loss in trade and incurred much extra work for all concerned. There has also been the constant disruption caused by alterations and building work carried out both above and within the Library Arcade. This has been almost constant throughout the whole of the year. On the plus side we have made remarkable progress with our Vein Finder project and been able to continue providing Complementary Therapy... There are big decisions to be made for the forthcoming year. We need to rebuild with new ideas increase the income and reduce overhead expenditure. …………………………………………………………………..
