REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES

The trustees submit their report on the accounts of the Latin Iberian Missions Trust (registered charity number 1069034) for the year ended 30th September 2021.

Principal Activities

  1. The Trust was created by Deed on 1st February 1998, with a supplemental deed expanding the geographical area in which the missionaries being supported by the trust work being notified to the Charity Commission in November 2019.

  2. Trustees serving from 1st October 2020 to the date of approval of the accounts (unless otherwise stated) were:

  3. A. R. Cleaver

  4. B. A. Cleaver

  5. C. Wyatt

  6. D. T. McIlroy

  7. K. I. Cleaver

  8. A.P. Henderson

  9. H. J. Ford (Secretary)

  10. During the period to 30th September 2021 income of £31,873 was received by the charity. The trustees in respect of this period have distributed grants and donations totalling £27,593 (2020 - £55,533) in furtherance of the Fund's objectives and as detailed in note 1 on page 5.

Aims and Objectives

The main aim of the Trust is to support missionaries training for, and working in, Latin America, Portugal and Spain. Financial assistance is provided for working and living expenses, travel costs and training fees.

Policies

The trustees request that they receive regular reports and prayer letters from the beneficiaries, so that their grants and prayer support are known to be relevant and up-to-date.

The trustees seek to make the work of the Trust, and its beneficiaries, known amongst supporters and potential supporters in the UK.

The principal source of funds are personal contacts of the beneficiaries, and the Trustees seek to ensure that they are encouraged to give in a tax efficient manner.

The Trustees review the Trust's commitments in relation to its income, with the intention that all current commitments can be met from current levels of income.

Recruitment and appointment of new trustees is undertaken by the chairman, in consultation with existing Trustees and the Secretary.

Reserves are subject to regular review, and are intended to provide for at least 6 months' commitments following a catastrophic loss of regular income. During this period, efforts would be made to replace the lost income. At 30th September 2021 reserves were £24,417, sufficient to cover approximately 10 months of expenditure at the level incurred in this financial year, therefore the policy was being complied with.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF LATIN IBERIAN MISSIONS TRUST

I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the charity for the year ended 30th September 2021 which are set out on pages 3-5.

Responsibilities and Basis of Report

The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordances with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act')

I report in respect of my examination of the charity's accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable directions given by the Charity Comission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

Independent examiner's statement

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

  1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or

  2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or

  3. the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a 'true and fair view' which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
