Our Education Committee, comprising medical artists, meets bi-annually
to review individual student's progression and discuss improvements lo
the educational programme. The Director of Education presents the
beneficial thoughts and ideas raised here to the Trustees for thelr
consideration.
All Iruslees give their lime voluntarily and receiv6 no remuneration or
benefits.
The MAET has 8 SUPPOrtive relationship with The Worshipful Company of
Barbers, Royal College of Surgeons, the Gordon Museum and King's
College London. They allow us lo use their facilities for seminars,
workshops and meetings. Some of their members volunteer as advisors,
supervisors and examiners.
As the Trust's activities have grown, consideration has been given to
financial security and so 8 resetve fund has been created lo protect from
any unexpected financial problems.

Our focus is to ensure continuation of thè educats'onal programrne In
medical art in colla￿ratiOn with the Direcaor of EducatK*n. Core activity is
the Postgraduate Programme in Medical Art. a self4irècted study with a
structured system of seminars and support. Th8 programme teach8s skills
required to understand and communicate visually aspects of medl¢ine and
surgery at all levels. Thus. maintalnlng a visual channel for the
dissemination and eXplana￿n of information between thè healthcare
professions. general publlc aThY academia. Comp18menting thls are the
Open Day. Advanced Foundatlon Course and Chadotte Holt Workshops,
all of which strive to widen access to medical art and enhance the standard
of our education and to encourage collal)oratlon and networking.

and conversation with practiclng rnedical artists. This has been sucossful

The Advanced Foundatlon Coufse covers fundamental obsepiatlon and
drawlng skills and cements core skims for all students. It opens our
opportunities to more people, for 8xample. from a science background who
have had liiue art trainlng or to th0$8 who show arustic potenllal but have
had Ilttle prior guldance. The work produced he￿ ha8 provld8d a
slepplngstone to the Postgfaduale Programme for some students who.

Assessments occur bi-annualty by an examining panel of artlsts.

Charlotte Holt Wothsl)ops provlde a wlder and more varfed expedenGe for
our students, and we Invite other healthcar8 wofesS￿na1s. artlsts and
those interested in medical art. We actively market these workshops
outstde the MAET.
Charlotte Holt Webinars have been developed during the pandemic to
ensure cyJnUnuation of tead)Ing tt) the sludents. A serfes of these weblnars
has been timetabled to *thich other healthcwe wofesslonals and artlsts
are invited.
W8 have begun to develop an online leaming plattomi using Thinkific, to
be populated wlth medical art tutorials. This will make our educational
resources accessible to those who are unable to attend our postgraduat8
courses. as well as to medical artists who wish to ￿arn new skills or to
upyate their extsling praclice.
We encourage and support attendance at meetings such as the Medical

We are very grateful for the Barbers. Company avRrds whlch provlde
promising sbjdents with addittonal specialist tutbon. Similarfy, w8 are
thankful for the Whltaker Award thal celebrates high stsndards in n￿dICal
art.
We have continued to maintain and enhance the MAET website which Is
a valuable resource for students. stsff and visitors to the site.
The main achievement thjring thi5 period has been continuation of our
eduCa￿nal prwammes ouuined in Se(#ion C arnl we have achieved the
following..
1. Margot Cocyer, trustee and founder of Limbs & Things Ltd, has
ntinued her generous support by funding a 3D modelling
V￿rkShop at King's College London. Professor Rhodes kindly
invited us to use his latK)rdtory in the Hodgknn Building at Guy's
Campus for the workshop. We are extremely gratefijl for their
SUP￿￿ and to Catherfne Bone. who destgned another engaging
day for the students.
2. We have started the develcpment c( an online leaming datsb8se
for medical art. starbng wth a series of tutorials covering
fundarnental medical art sklls hosted on Thinkific. These tutorials
are available to our own students as well as to users a￿osS the
UK and intemationally. with participants coming from healthcar8,
Scien￿ and art backgn)unds. This platform enables us to make
our educatic￿l proNrysion awsible to a much wider audience.
3. We are currenty researching arKJ seeking expert advi￿ about
how our course might be awarded Masterfs status. Athough it is
delivered at postgraduate level, it does r￿t currently culminate in
an internationally recogntsed Master's qualfficalion. We are in
discussion viith several institutions, induding University College
Lond¢)n. The Open Universty and King's College London.
4. We received a generou5 bequest of £5000 from Nir Cmmdr
Ronnie Brown and his wrfe Margaret Brown. Ronnie Brown was
the founding chaimen of the MAET. We are ext￿melY grateful for
their valued support which continues in this kind thnation. The
trustees. director and Education Committee are exploring Options
for its use.
5. Our dkJltal markeling actswty has contlnued in eamest. We rHNV
rnaintain active Instagram. Facebook and Linkedln accounts.
alongside a tennty newsletter. To support efficient and conslslent
ouwut. we have developed a strucbjred system for soclal mdla
posting and newsletter production. This includes an annual
marketing plan. a shared ti[[thb￿. editable image and newsletter
templates and scheduled posting using Buffer.
6. We have ￿ntinUed wtth our migration to Google Workspac8.
Numerous files and systems have been set up enabllng us to
work more efficienty and securely. Systems indude those for
financial reLy)rd keepirvJ, document hubs, student work hubs and
a student datsbase.

7. Moved our accounting system to XERO for invoicing, billing and
record keeping. It is a much more efficient system and allows us
to manage the Increase In number of students, tutorials and
events more efficiently and effectively.
