Trustees Report – Youth Brass 2000 Charity number: 1068459 Year ended 31[st] August 2025
The constitution of the charity as a charitable trust was adopted 1 August 1999. Trustees are appointed by existing trustees from members of the management committee.
Objects:
The aim of the charity is to develop and nurture young musicians. This is achieved through running a youth brass band which by regular rehearsals aims to achieve a high standard in national competitions as well as performing in concerts at a wide range of venues. Playing membership of the band is open to all young brass players without audition. The aim is to train all the members of whatever standard to be able to perform in the band in national competitions. As a charity the band supports financially where possible all members who need assistance to participate in all the activities of the group by providing instruments and subsidising the cost of activities as needed.

The band is run by a committee which is appointed at the Annual General meeting. The principal office holders on the current committee are as follows:

Review of the activities and financial affairs
The trustees present their report along with the Receipts and Payments account for the charity for the year ended 31[st] August 2025.
The trustees consider that the financial position of the charity is satisfactory. It is the aim to raise sufficient funds through concerts, from donations and grants to fund the current running costs of the band. The band also assists other charitable groups by joint fundraising and aims to be an integral part of the local community and foster partnerships with statutory and voluntary organisations.
This has been a very successful year. We have attracted more players to the band, all with varying degrees of talent although we lose the older members as they move onto university or start their career, we wish them all the best. Stephen Phillips is still enjoying working with us. In August 2025 we embarked our usual European tour, this time to Lake Garda Italy. This included concerts and other cultural activities playing in the Piazzetta Beccherie in Lazice as part of Lago di Garda in love festival. The band took part in the National Youth Brass Band Championships held at Hymers college Hull. I am very pleased to say we won and again have the title as National Youth champions. This means we will go to Brucknerhaus in Linz Austria in 2026 to compete in the Europeans.
We have also been busy playing in concerts in churches and care homes. We were also privileged to take part in Music for Youth held at the Symphony Hall Birmingham. The band is looking forward to next year as we plan to our usual European tour and defend our position as National Champions.
Again I would like to thank the players of the band, the committee and supporters that continue to show such resolve and support. I am sure we have all enjoyed another year of brass banding and seeing the playing skill of our young musicians develop.

Independent Examiners Report to the Trustees of Youth Brass 2000 Year ended 31[st] August 2025
I report on the accounts of Youth Brass 2000 for the year ended 31 August 2025 which are set out on page 3. This report is made solely to the trustees, as a body, in accordance with the regulations made under section 44 of the Charities Act 1993, as amended by the Charities Act 2006. My work has been undertaken so that I might state to the charity’s trustees those matters I am required to state to them in an independent examiners report and for no other purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, I do not accept or assume responsibility to anyone other than the charity and the charity’s trustees as a body for my work, for this report, of for the opinions I have formed.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year (under section 43(2) of the Charities Act 1993 and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to:

examine the accounts (under section 43 of the Act)

to follow the procedures laid down in the general directions given by the charity commission (under section 43 (7 ) (b) of the Act and

To state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of Independent Examiners Statement
My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a true and fair view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent Examiners Statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

Which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in, any material respect, the requirements have not been met:

to keep proper accounting records in accordance with Section 41 of the Act; and

to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 1993Act; or
-
To which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
