Report Df the Trustees lorthe year erthd SÈpttmber 2025 The Trustees present their Report along with the consolidated financial statements of the Charlty and its subsidiary for the year ended September 2025. The financial statement5 hwe been prepared and comply with the Charity's Trust Deed. Animals In Need is a charity registered with the Charity Commission under Registration Number 1068222. The financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011, the Companies Act 2006, the Memorandum and Articles of Association, and Accountlng and Reporknng by Charitie5: Statement of Recommended Practfjce applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporkn"ng standard applicable in the UK and Republic cf Ireland IFRS 1021 leffertive I January 20151- Mlsslon Statement We see it as our responslbllity to rescue sick. injured, trapped and distressed wlld and domesti animals, and provide veterinary treatment where neces5ary* care for and rehabilitate animals until they can be released or rehomed. In shaping our objectives for the year and planning our activltie5, the Trustee5 have considered the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefwt, including the guidance "publlc benèfit: running a charity IPB21. Acil¥ities Animals In Need Is a rescue organIsaOn run by a small number of pald stsff, asslsted by volunteer5. We attend animal casualtfjes In the Northampton5hire area. We attend lo both domestic and wild animals, and in 1999 were asked by Northampton5hire Police to work with them. attending road traffic accidents and out of hours emergencies. Feeding and caring for the injured anima15 we rescue is most important, especially in cases of young orphaned birds, which need hand feeding every hour from dawn till dusk. Also young hedgehogs who haven't reached the required weight to suryive hibernation over the winter months need to be kept warm and fed, as do swans that have incurred injuries, many from fishing tackle that they have swallowed or become entangled in. How We Work We save and rehome thou5and5 of animals every year. alone with mentoring and teaching Volunteers the corrert animal care. We are well known for offering work experience to veterinary colleges, and we pride ourselves on being a local employer. We have on site hospital facilities for all the animals, along wlth the support of a 24 hour of hours veterlnary surgery. Most important to the Charity, we have a "Non Destruct Pollcy" for all our animals.
Voluntsry Help and Gift5 In Kind The Trustees are extremely thankful forthe number of Volunteers and paid Staff that continue tt) provide valuable support by providing care for all of the animals at the sanctuary, staffing the shop. along with the fundi3isin8 events, an(1 daily walking the dogs in our care. The publlc have also been very generous in providing grft5 in kind, partlcularly food for all the animals in our care. along with bedding. Charlty Shop and Cafe We have a Charlty Shop on the outsklrts of Northampton Town Centre. which is run by Volunteers. We run a very successful Vegan Cafe on site, which is open at weekends. This is a fantastic attrathon to ralse funds and awarene55 of the sanctuary. What We Dld-Artlvitles and fundraisin8 events Acilvltles In 2025 a long-standlng supporter of the Charity offered u5 the opportunity to use her land as sanctuary for our sIdent farm animals. We moved to Neaturn Farm Animal Sanctuary in Marth, taking the sheep. 803ts. ponies, turkeys and hens inthally. Over the next 6 morths we carried out work on the fencing and housing for the animals, and gradually moved the pigs in, as well as taking on a pair of donkeys, another pony and an alpaca. Annie and Kir5ty work at Neaturn, assisted by a handful of regular volunteers. The sanctuary is not open to the publie in the same way as Pine Tree Farm, however there will be Open Days and visitinE opportunltles by appolntment. We continueto provide daily care for all of the animals at both sites, ensuring, where applicable. they are all fully vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, flea-treated and worked. All animals are cleaned out d3ilyto a high standard. Fundraisi Events Each year Anlmals In Need runs several fundraising events. Past events ifbclude.. Sky Dives Pack Walks Vegan Fayres Open Day5 During 2024125 we regularly held Dog Shows, Online Auctions, and in-store collections at supermarkets, pet shops etc. We also attend groups such as Wl and Cubs & Scouts as well as schools, where we give educational talks and raise awareness.
Flnanclal Review Please see attached accounts whlch set out our financial position at the end of the period. The income has in the main been generated by fundraising events, a5 well a5 through le8acies and bequests and adoption fees. Day to day outgoings include feed and vet bllls, utilitie5 and general running costs for the sanrtuary and the emergerbcy vehicles. It would be impossible to run the Charity Without a small number of paid Staff, although the majority of the workers are Volunteers. Larger outgolngs include new buildings and maintenance work to the existing ones, which are constantly evolvlng so as to provide improved accommodation for the animals reslding within them. The totsl Income generated In the yearwas We always hold in reserve enough funds to cover our running costs for the forthcoming 12 months. This is so that we can ConnUe to look after the anima15 in our care for that period, with the same number of paid 5tsff. and funds to cover projected utility CQSts, whilst allowlng ourselves time to potentially raise further funding so that we can continue our work beyond that CUtff date. We have a goveming document, whlch sets out our aims and guidance for the Trustees. We appoint Trustees based on thelr dedication and commitment to the Charityi backed up by their beliefs and ethics, ensuring that the Charity continues to run for the same reasons that it was founded. The Trustees are conscious of the need to use funds wisely, and meet on a monthly bas15 to discus5 how to move the Charity forward, withoutjeopardising what we have already attomplished. We would hope that In the future we a able to nnue to grow as a Charity, thus being able to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome as many animals as possible, although we are realistr"c as to ensuring that those that come in a given adequate space and the best care available, without over-crowding them. Our Patrons and Supporters As well as our amazing stsff and Volunteers. we are lucky enough to have some great supporters, including- Heather Mills- Patron Vets4Pets Northampton Vets4Pets Set out to become a local vet with a difference- they have supported us for several years. and we are so grateful for all their help. CRB checked and fully insured with Pet Plan Sanctuary. Pets At Home Stores We are partned by Corby. Kettering and Wellingborou8h Stores, and they hold fundraising events a5 well as regularly donating much needed supplie5.
Pet ftemedv As part of our adoptlon package we provide a Pet Remedy pack, and by promoting thelr products we ceive gifts to pass on to adopters.
