Charity details

The charity is run by volunteers from the parent and teacher community of St Lawrence C of E (VA) Primary School, Napton, who are known as the Napton School Parent Teacher Association (PTA) whose official name is St Lawrence School Association (SLSA). The key roles within the charity are:

• Chair Person

• Vice Chairperson

• Treasurer

• Secretary

These roles are filled by members of the PTA and appointed at the AGM each year in October.

The trustees are appointed from volunteers within the PTA, and the PTA meets regularly during school term time.

2022 -2023 activities and objectives

Each year the charity aims to run a range of fundraising activities to enable the funding of items or services for St Lawrence C of E (VA) Primary School, Napton to advance the education of the pupils in the school.

The charity ran several fundraising activities in the year including:

• Scavenger hunt

• Bonfire

• Strictly come dancing inspired evening

• Christmas fundraising including a wreath making class, Christmas fair and Christmas gift purchasing commission

• Disco and cinema evening

• Quiz and curry

• Easter bingo

• School games

• Folk night

SLSA was also able to fundraise via sales commission arrangements with Amazon and Easy fundraising.

Achievement and performance

The fundraising this financial year delivered a £14,625 contribution to the charities reserves. We then used £10,017 of our reserves to fund a number of items for the St Lawrence C of E (VA) Primary School, Napton to advance the education of the pupils in the school including:

• A new stage to be used for performances and musical events within the school.

• Items for use in classrooms from educational games to classroom consumables like pens and crayons.

• New educational equipment for the playground.

• Subscriptions to Early Years and Special Educational Needs websites and materials.

• Items to support an event to mark the coronation of King Charles in school.

• Celebratory items to recognise children’s efforts in school such as stickers and certificates.

• A visit by a Home Guard acting ground to bring to life learning around World War 2.

Financial review

SLSA’s income for this period was £26,371.13, any costs for the charity are directly related to the fundraising events we hold. The direct costs of staging events was £11,745.84, meaning an additional £14,625 contribution to the charities reserves. £10,017.69 was spent on items for St Lawrence C of E (VA) Primary School, Napton to advance the education of the pupils in the school. The charity retained £23,574.25 for future funding requirements in the school.

The charity constitution requires £1,000 is retained as a reserve. No funds are held as a custodian trustee, and the charity has no debts or loans.
