Trustees Report for The Year Ended 31st August 2023
The Trustees of RAB Late Play Club charity present their annual report and accounts for the year ending 31st August 2023 and confirm that they comply with the requirements of the Charities Act. OVERVIEW The RAB Late Play Club is registered with OFSTED and is a registered charity offering a Breakfast Club and an After School Club for children attending the R A Butler Academy. Our objective is to provide quality, affordable childcare in a safe, fun and social environment, that guarantees parents and carers peace of mind. We currently provide term time care for up to 90 children from Reception through to Year 6. In response to demand our intake has once again increased compared to previous years. We remain at full capacity for most days and are delighted to have maintained a respected profile within the local community over the past year. Within the two clubs the children are offered a choice of nutritious drinks and snacks and are free to choose from a variety of art and craft activities and a range of table top games. The school playing fields are used for outdoor activities when the weather is fine. As a charity we seek to benefit the local community, therefore our fees are kept affordable. RAB Late Play Club is committed to Safeguarding and the welfare of children in their care and the Trustees make sure that the staff understands and shares these principles. We promote social cohesion by not tolerating any abuse or bullying amongst children or Staff and by accepting and caring for children from all ethnic backgrounds. Our activities and planning are in agreement with the Charity Commission guidance on public benefit.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
We have continued to serve the needs of the community and the staff have provided an excelient amenity for children and their parents. The Club underwent an Ofsted inspection during the year and was awarded the highest grade achievable for an Out of School Club. We also hold an Excellent Grade for Food Hygiene. We have successfully managed our financial sustainability through the ongoing cost of living crisis with rising prices and rent. Staff retention and recruitment in the Childcare Sector is increasingly chalienging but the Ciub successfully increased staff numbers and ended the year with a full compliment of staff. We increased our Trustee & Management Committee membership with a number of longterm members retiring from their positions.

FUTURE PLANNING
Our focus for the immediate future is to continue operating safely during the ongoing economic difficulties with minimum disruption to our children. We will continue to closely monitor the financial Stability of the Club so that we remain in a robust financial position. A revised Investment and Reserves Policy is being introduced. Our staff training programme provides for all regulatory training courses. We are expanding this to encourage continued professional development and further enhance play skills. Training and induction for Trustees/Committee Members is being introduced and updated. Childcare reforms are occurring over the coming 3 years to improve the accessibility of Wrap around childcare. The extent to which these may impact the Club will be closely monitored by the Management Committee.
ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE
The Trustees and Management Committee are responsible for the overall direction of the charity. The day-to-day operation is organised by the Play Club Manager supported by an Assistant Manager and appropriately qualified staff. Responsibilities and basis of report As the charity trustees of the Charity, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act’). | report in respect of my examination of the Charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, | have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
