Durin8 2023, our children have enjoyed participating in activities displayin8 their talent in dance.
songs, presentation, poems. readlngs and recitations. Leadlng up to Easter, the children made a
wooden cross and on £aster Sunday the children did a drama presentation of the crucifixion of Jesus
Christ. The Children show great enthusiasm and boldness as they learned and presented bible memory
erses In the main service.
In August 2023, the Young People were given an amazing opporfvnity to attend the NLDNUK
International Dance Conference in Northampion. As aspirin8 dancers. they were very excited lo learn
how God could use the talent He has given them to develop In dance ministry.
'My body is a Temple, was the conference theme and the children were taught how to commence
their journey of embracing every aspect of their bodies as 'Temples ol the Holy Spirit. and to develop
an intimate relationship with God through praise and worship in dance.
They were tau8ht/led by a liturgical dancerfrom the USA and also had the honour ofreceivin8 support
from other Internationally recognised liturgical dancers. They were able to discuss and challenge
myths around boys/men and dance, identify their own skill and be taught choreography to use for
personal or public worship.
On Thursday through Saturday, they attended a variety of seminars where they were taught liturglcal
dance choreograph¥ and worship with fla85 which would be performed for the delegates on the
Saturday evening.
Overall, it was a fantastic experience. they made friendships that have lasted. They have since
attended practice on a few occasions and have performed with the NLD Youth Network twice. in
8irmin8ham and Nottin8ham.
Educati

the community. Developing our provision for online sessions and services has provided the
opportunity to broaden our sense of community and connection as it has made it easier for people to
join us online and has 30dressed restrictions In terms ol localitv and time. i.e., people have been able
to loin our meeting5 from all over the world and time zones.
-Women's Grou
We give God thanks for taking us through another amazing year and the continued connections that
are bcin8 creazed since Covid-19 and tho tomporary closure ol our buildin8 which is awaitin8
refurbishments. We remain connected with the group via Wh3tsApp which is a great platform that
gives immediate communication with those who are 80in8 through challenges, such as be.reavement,
illnesses and require support, rea55vrance, encouraEement and prayers
During February and Apfil 2023, we focused on the wellbeing of women. In February we were blessed
with a Session on an Introduction to menopause and In April a a&A session on the same topic. The
evt>.nts were covered by Professional speakers, Menopause Consultant and a General practitioner.
The sessions were well attended, and all feedback were positive. The women are still connected
thfough group discussions, bible studies and information sharing via Zoom.
We coniinue io acknowledge the importance of the social and spiritual activltie5 that we do, they are
well appreciated by the women in Mounl Zion and the wider community. We are praying this love for
servln8 will conrinue as we progress through 2024.
We will continue to woik together in love and unity involvin8 Ilot just women in church but the wider
community. Our aim is to share Christ and to promote social tO8etherness which is essential for our
faith io grow and relationships to strive. To accomplish this, the women's team will Continue to work
together, plan and promote events that will serve the community.
Men's Grou
The Mount Zion Men's Team marked a continuation and expansion of our activities in 2023.
We continued our prayer breakfasts for men, at the Mustard Seed book shop w1lh men not only from
Mount Zion. but also other as5eniblies and patrons. The Mu5lard Seed's proprietor has expfe55ed love
of our freedom in worshippin8 when we have meetin8S there and this has also left an Impression on
patrons, Wlth one who visited us at one of our Sunday Services. We also delivered an Outreach event
in West 8ridgford. This event included fellowshipping With people. some who were facing various life
challenges asked for prayers and we were able to encourage them.
This event included various restimonies form members of the church and how they came to know
Jesus Christ. The event also featured 3 white board, where pas5efS-by were asked to write a question
they would like to ask God. There was also a cross where people could paste their prayer requests.
This eveni w35 also sUPPOrted by anoiher local church. The outreach was the first of what we hope
will be many In tlo IAlest Br,,dgford a.'ca. whcre we are tcmpoTaril¥ attending church.
Our "Mount Zion Gospel Cruise" along the River Trent was a huge success with members, friends,
family and people from various communities attending 3 3-hour dinner cruise which Included 80spel
music. Everyone who attended indicated that it was a fantastic event and wish for It to be delivered
in the summer of 2024. The staff of the Trent River Cruises thoroughly enjoyed the event and came
obt from Ihe kitchen to Participate. Children were also allowed Into the captain's cabin, which
provided them with delight.
We continue to in-reach to our men, both in person and via telephone calls, especially vulnerable
ones. Our MÈn's leader is also in contaci with members from El Salvador. who are asylum seeker5,
nd now settled in Middlesborough.

December 2023 ended with a Men's Meal at Norwich House. in our city centre, which was very
successlul. This was enjoyed by men from Mount Zion and from the community.
Black Histo
The Black History Exhibition Competition continue5 annually land has done so since 20121 with the
aim of Taisin8 aspirations and increasing knowledge about Black Hisiory. The competition Is open to
7- to 11-year-olds and now includes local schc>ols. Entrants have responded with a high level of
enthusiasm and the schools have commented on the sense ol pride that the winner and runners up
have felt. The prize 15 sponsored by the University of Nottin8ham and includes a university certif icaie
for the winners and runners up and a celebration for the winner.
Food Bank
Mount Zion's mission 15 one of the busiest foodbanks in the Hope Nottingham network in the 2023
period.
The wonderful volunteer team served 1.293 parcels within 2023, J 23% increase on the previous year.
This consisted of 1.639 adults and 630 children, 629 parcels were given to unique households.
There were 55 parcels 8iven to those experiencin8 homele55ne55 Of 'Sofa surfing, consisting 0113
homeless children. 52 families were in employment.
Throu8hout the network we had a decline in donations of 18% which is a horrifyin8 Plcture on what
to expect in rhe future especially when you consider the percentage of usage that has risen at various
sites. We ale having lo strip back on cleaninB products and toileiries as we need to focus on the
food. We worry that our donors will then start buying toiletries. It's not our vision for people to smell
nice and clean and have clean hornes. if they are hungry and we have no food to 8ive. The Mount
Zion's mission also provides a place for people to have a hot drink and refreshments at the foodbank.

embershl In
emenl and Fundralsin
The Church Is heavily dependent on Its membership in all aspects of its artlvlties. Apart from their
involvement In the running of all the Group activities, their financial support underpins a subst¢intiol
part of the Church's objectives. The church continues to raise the funds to assist specifically with
activities from within its own membership, congreBation and cornmunity ihrough fundraisin8 events.
Once the building project is complete, the new electrical and heating services will also reduce runnin8
COSES. pioducing significant energy efficiencies and financial savings. This will allow the church to
channel more funds Into community proiect5.
The financial results for the year. tO8ether with a summary of the accounting policies adopted are set
out in the accompanying financial statement.
