## **Review**

Once again, our numbers have slightly grown with more children attending from out of the village and an increase of 2 year olds. We also had three children who needed attentional adult support for which we had to employ more staff. To help these children, we purchased equipment that met their additional needs. We have continued to use our online Learning Journal as a communication tool with parents as well as a valuable record of the children’s achievements.

Along with the rest of the country, we reflected on the death of Queen Elizabeth II and used suitable activities and literature with the children. We also marched in the village's annual Remembrance Parade where two children were chosen to lay our wreath. We presented a packet of Poppy seeds and a certificate to each child who marched with us. We also held our own Remembrance ceremony at the playing fields memorial with all the older children.

Christmas saw a very successful Songs for Christmas performance from the children, followed by our Christmas Raffle. The children made a card and a present for their parents and also decorated a snowflake for the village Christmas tree. All children received a

book for Christmas, left for them by Father Christmas. At their Christmas Party, they were entertained by Crazy Corin.

Our fundraising continued at Easter with our annual Easter Egg Hunt. As is tradition, children made an Easter bonnet, which was then displayed on the day. We had great support from the village for one of our main fundraisers.

We were asked by the Parish Council to make something for the village's Coronation event. The children decided on a crown, made from every child's handprint. Even the staff were allowed to join in. We held our own Coronation picnic for all fishes children and parents and each child was presented with a Coronation medal as a keepsake.

Unfortunately, because of the weather, we did not attend the village Summer Fete as planned but will use the clay and materials bought for activities with the Fishes children. We finished the year with sports day and our leavers Pirate Party.

The staff have continually updated their training and we have also replaced worn or broken equipment. Unfortunately, a high level of rent continues to impact our finances along with an increase in the living wage and the cost of living.
