SHIRLEY PARISH HALL REGISTERED CHARITY NO: 1067821 ADDRESS: 81 Wickham Road, Shirley, Croydon, CRO 8TB ort of the Trustees for the ear endin 31st December 2025 Shirley Parish Hall (including the Evans Room) continues to be used by local groups- Shirley Singers,, Shirley Players , short mat bowls, Sparkles Pre School, lodge meetings and a dance class. One section of the bowls club continued to play on a Thursday morning throughout the summer . Thirty five wedding receptions and other celebration parties were held on Saturdays throughout the year. The hall is closed on Sundays except for blood donor sessions-seven were held during the year. The final booking of the year resulted in the hirer's deposit being retained. The hall was left in an unacceptable state , including damage to the fridge and an excess amount of rubbish left for the Trustees to dispose of. Work undertaken throughout the year included a new roof on the Evans Room together with the flooring being replaced. The governing document of the charity, being a Declaration of Trust dated 25 June 1928 states that the Vicar of Shirley shall ex officio become a Trustee and that Trustees shall be Communicant Members of the Church of England. Following a meeting with the Vicar it was acknowledged that two of the Trustees were no longer communicant members and they resigned. The oversight of the Vicar not being added as a Trustee when she came to the parish has now been rectified. Income of £64,784 ( last year £58.191) which came from regular and weekend lettings together with table and chair hire was very pleasing. Expenditure decreased slightly . This increase will enable to boiler to be replaced in 2026. In the opinion of the Trustees the Hall is adequately insured against fire, theft and public liability. NOTES l. The trust was formed in 1928 to hold and administer the Shirley Parish Hall on behalf of the local community. 2. The accounts have been prepared on a cash basis, include income and expenditure as received or paid, and are in accordance with the accounting records. 3. Fixed assets are not capitalised, capital expenditure being written off through the receipts and payments account as incurred, the most important fixed assets are the freehold of the Shirley Parish hall and its fixtures and fittings, furniture and equipment. The insured value at th 30 March 2025 was Buildings £1,370,169 and Contents £50,434 Approved by the trustees onr3ra T(4AL 20.*... 2026 and signed on their behalf by Chairman/Hon Treasurer Hon.
