Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway Preservation Society Trust Trustees’ annual report For the year to 28[th] February 2021 (continued)
Structure and governance
Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway Preservation Society Trust is an unincorporated registered charity established by a trust deed dated 13[th] September 1997.
Objects of the charity
The objects are to preserve the railway line between Ravenglass and Eskdale in the county of Cumbria and the maintenance and protection of such structures, buildings, plant, locomotives, rolling stock and equipment on or adjacent to or connected with the said railway as are of historical, cultural, architectural, constructional or scientific interest or exhibit craftmanship worthy of preservation.
Achievements in the year
The Trust income and outgoings have been dominated this year by donations of nearly £12k towards the Steam Locomotive Maintenance Fund, enabling gift aid to be claimed, and a bequest of similar value.
The Trust funded the booklet 'It's Still A Lot Of Fun' as an educational and historic record of Society and Railway events.
Financial review
During the year the charity received income of £25,655 (2020 - £1,319) and made payments of £24,529 (2020 - £1,153). The income this year included bequests of £12,000 (2020 - £25).
There was therefore an excess of receipts over payments for the year of £1,126 (2019 – excess of receipts over payment £166).
This was added to the funds brought forward of £106,129 (2020 - £105,963) to give a level of funds at the year-end of £107,255 (2020 - £106,129).
