Royal Naval Association Southend on Sea Trustees report 2024

The Branch Committee, (Trustees), conduct Branch affairs in accordance with our Supplemental Royal Charter Rules and Bye-Laws in conjunction with the Charity Commission directives in meeting our Royal Naval Association's Objects as outlined in Article 3 & 4.

Over this past year the Branch has continued to support our Naval Veterans and their Families which is at the heart of our branch welfare. Our Experienced Welfare Officer has supported Shipmates with hospital visits and supplying basic needs during their stay and afterwards when discharged home along with regular visits and contact calls.

Our Welfare Officer has from time to time undertaken to help access supported living allowance and PIP for our members, and when requested for, help with these forms as well as signposting to other national support networks.

We have supported the families of those who have Crossed the Bar and undertaken the families wishes for the scattering of the ashes. We have attended various parades and funerals together with our Standard Bearer and Branch Shipmates.

We have collected donations from the public to help support our Sea Charities each year.

We have Branch Meetings twice a month and all monies from our raffles goes to support the branch to continue in its aims under the Royal Charter.

The Branch has celebrated and supported Trafalgar Night each year as well as Pickle Night.

We have a yearly programme that is sent to all Shipmates as well as posted on Facebook as a reminder of up-and-coming events. This is all undertaken by our Communications Officer/Secretary.

The Branch sends a yearly donation to our Local Sea Cadet Unit, RNBT Charity, RNRM Charity, RNA Central Office, RNLI, Not Forgotten Association and the Fisherman’s Mission.

We have received a substantial legacy from a local resident which we have put into a high interest account for the future. The Branch has had a successful year.
