TOTS R US PRE-SCHOOL ANNUAL REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 JULY 2024 {CONTINUED) Progress during the year This has been a busy year for tots with lots of children registering with us from outside of the village &$ well as our usual levels of local children due to the incre&se in funding for free entitlement- other local villages preschools being full has seen children come lo us from Aylesham and Ash and a few more thaD usual enquiries from Eythorne families. We have a lower number of children starting school and therefore more returntng to tots in September meaning we are off to a good start in September 2024. This, however, means we have less space for new families. and we are predicting we may become full earlier this year. Our only concern wlth this is that if local families wish io join us, we may noi have available what they want so w¢ will try to keep some spaces in reserve for this as our constitution is that we are here for local families. We stand by our constitution re local families accessing us and local people being employed by us and unexpectedly we find a member of staff thal has only just joined us going on maternity leave howeverwe have b¢en lucky enough to have a local mature student that more than fits the job specification and we are therefore employing her on a temporary contract to cover this but we more than expect this will become pernianent next summer due to the rising demand in nursery places re the incre&sed free entitlement funding. Our profil is being used io completely redecorate the whole serting this summer as it is in much need of this and some neiv resources forthe increasing numbers ofchildren. If there is any spare itwill go into the contingency fund for a neiv building as is always the 6ase and for any unexpected repairs that will arise due to the age of tlie building and more into the redundancy funds due to the increasing number of staff. We also know thal we have covered the wages for the maternity ￿Ver before committing to employing another member of staff. This year has seen the relurn of a past member of staff, which was needed due to the unexpected increase in children - safer recruitment was applied once again even though they were employed by us befor¢. As advised, we did try to open a business savings account. We spent months providing all the information required to the building society, only for them to just eventually say sO￿Y ive are not opening anj, more business savings accounts at present. It ivas very long winded, and ive ivill ty again this year to sort one out. It has been a good year, and ive expect the nexl to be as fruitful. Reserves At the year end income reserves amounting 10 £209,263 (2023 - £188,809) Ivere held by the Pre-school. ON BEHALF OF THE COMMirrEE M Hollis, Chairperson Date: 'li Ly Page 2
