## **STRUCTURE GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT**
Actionplus Foundation (UK) formerly Pneuma Outreach Ministries is constituted as a charitable Trust registered under the Charity Commission in 1997. Charity registered number is 1066542 governed by deed of Trust.
## **TRUSTEES APPOINTMENT AND TRAINING**
New Trustees for the charity are appointed by the present trustees but they do so in consultation of the management committee of the various subsidiaries of Actionplus Foundation (UK). Before a trustee is recruited, we look for those who have contributed to the stabilisation and growth of the charity. We also consider those who have skills that can advance the activities of the charity. With the way meetings are conducted.
Before Trustee are duly appointed, they are given time to attend meetings to familiarise themselves They are trained to understand the aims and objectives of the charity as stated in the trust deeds and how they can effectively contribute to its success.
## **INDUCTING NEW TRUSTEES**
After the appointment of new Trustees, they are introduced to their various roles.. Copies of the charities deed is then handed over to them so that they can familiarise themselves with their responsibilities under the charities act and what our charity also stands for and what we aim at achieving. After successfully proving themselves as potential Trustees, they are then confirmed and given full official confirmation as trustees.
There is no limit on the number of years members can serve. The members of the board are the trustees of the registered charity during their period service as leaders
Our organisation started small from the beginning in Southwark but has grown almost three decades now to become a leading HIV health organisation in the world. Our organisation throughout its operation has not received any major funding to fund our work. We sometimes are fortunate to receive one off grants and small donations to support our work here in the UK and in Africa but despite the tough financial challenge we face, we have managed to sustain the work by God's grace through our faith in God, we have managed to keep going where others decide to quit or back off. This resilient attitude has enabled us to see many uncountable miracles happening on daily basis. Action speaks louder than words.
**Testing for HIV in the church for the first time in Ghana**
This is the first Church where an HIV testing Centre was opened by Actionplus Foundation to offer a free and confidential HIV testing to church members in Ghana, The event took place at the Ashaiman Central Assemblies of God Church in the Greater Accra Region. The event attracted over 800 people from the faith communities, the health services and the metropolis. 120 were tested for HIV. This model is replicated throughout the country and around the world.
## **FOOTBALL FOR ACTION IN HIV EDUCATION- ACTIONPLUS FC GHANA**
Actionplus FC team has a strong 24 squad trained to use their Talents and skills through football tournaments to spread the message of the awareness of HIV to the general public. These young men do not only spread the message of HIV but serve as volunteers to support the work of Actionplus Foundation in Ghana.
## **PROGRAMMES AND ACTIVITIES FOR 2021**
## **UGANDA**
The Youth HIV peer leadership programme began with 55 young people recruited from churches, schools and the general public. These young people were trained as peer educators and youth ambassadors to create the awareness of the prevalence of the HIV epidemic and to prevent the growth of the infection among young people.70 Community champions were also recruited from the drivers unions, hotels, barber’s shops and saloons. These were trained as HIV advocates and campaigners to create the awareness of HIV at their places of work and also to distribute condoms to their clients to prevent the spread of HIV infection. Persons living with HIV were also supported with the supply of essential needs and counselling. Befriending activities were also introduced to avoid loneliness and rejection.
## **GHANA**
## **LAUNCHING OF THE CAMPUS HIV EDUCATION PROJECT (CHEP) AT FORCES SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL IN THE LA-DADEKOTOPON DISTRICT, ACCRA (FUNDED BY RICHARD KING BEQUEST).**
The Actionplus Foundation in its establishment as a Christian Non-governmental Organisation (NGO) is leading the fight against HIV in Ghana and the United Kingdom. As part of its 2021 third quarter HIV awareness campaign the Chief Executive Officer Apostle Fred Osei-Annin and Management of Actionplus Foundation in collaboration with the Headmaster of Forces Senior High School, Lt. Col O. S. Zuniedu and Management of Forces Senior High Technical School located at Burma Camp in the La-Dadekotopon Municipal District Accra held an HIV/AIDS Education campaign and Launch of the Campus HIV Educational Programme (CHEP), under the theme Health For Life. The management of the Foundation decided to select the school to be part of its CHEP Programme in the country.
The Senior Housemistress of the school Mrs. Winifred Ninlaara, in her welcome address deemed it an honour for the school to be selected as part of the beneficiaries of the CHEP initiative. Apostle Fred Osei-Annin in his keynote address gave a brief background of the CHEP project as a youth empowerment initiative formed by the Foundation to sensitize the youth in the Basic and Senior High Schools to ensure that Ghana achieves the UN/AIDS 2030 target of ending the HIV/AIDS menace. This project according to the C.E.O will be replicated in second cycle institutions across the country within the next five years. He notified that _“We are not the type of forces that fight with guns. We fight with our mouths to create awareness about what HIV can do in your life”._ He reminded the students that the Foundation has fought against HIV in the UK for 22 years in churches, in mosques, in market places and in schools to talk about HIV so that lives of many people will be saved and also avoid the spread of HIV. _He stated that Actionplus Foundation has operated on this very sensitive issue for twelve years. Actionplus Foundation has managed to be the leading vocal voice for HIV prevention_ . He further stated that from 2007 till now the Foundation has never relented in their efforts to zero HIV.
Apostle Fred in his address assured the students that _“A time will come that HIV will be no more in our world. And that is the vision that we carry we are carrying this vision that one day one time there will be no more HIV in our world not in Ghana not in Cote devoir not in china not in America, nowhere in this world”_ .
The project manager of Actionplus Foundation Mr. Charles Zuttah added that the Foundation will form a peer to peer club in the school and appoint CHEP executives to frontline the HIV awareness campaign to champion the fight against the threat so that the students will be the best teachers to themselves.
The program came to a successful end as Apostle Fred Osei-Annin officially launched the CHEP initiative with a school population of about 200. Lt. Maxwell Kutuuloizie the Administrator of Forces Senior High Technical School congratulated the Foundation for a successful program and said that their gates are always opened for the continuation of the programme. He appealed to the foundation for frequent follow ups in order to sustain the project. The CEO with members of Actionplus Foundation including the school administration took group pictures to end the programme for the day.
## **LAUNCHING OF CAMPUS HIV EDUCATION PROJECT (CHEP) AND HIV EDUCATION AT THE ASUOGYAMAN AND SOUTH DEYI DISTRICTS (FUNDED BY RICHARD KING BEQUEST).**
The effect and prevalence rate of HIV among the youth in Ghana today cannot be overemphasized. Over the period it looks like awareness in education is gradually dying off whiles the prevalence rate is increasing. Young people are getting infected daily because of lack of HIV education in our Schools. Actionplus Foundation is however committed towards raising the leaders of tomorrow. It is in line with this alarming situation that the management and coordinators of Actionplus Foundation in partnership with some selected basic schools in the Asuogyaman District in the Eastern region and South Dayi District in the Volta region have deemed it necessary to rekindle the awareness and campaigning through education of HIV by launching the National Campus HIV Educational Program (CHEP), under the theme “Health for Life”. The event commenced with a float along the principal streets of the town by the Boso D/A Junior High School and Boso Anglican JHS. The spirit of freedom was well exhibited by the students as well as the teachers and volunteers through a spectrum of patriotic and HIV composed songs and dance.
The headmistress of the Boso D/A JHS, Madam Beatrice in her welcome address expressed gratitude to the Foundation for selecting the school followed by Ms. Mary Obeng, a final year student of the school who gave an astounding poetry recital about HIV/AIDS.
The keynote address was presented by Ms. Grace Afi Hadzor ( _PRO of Actionplus Foundation_ ) who gave a brief background of CHEP and the need to replicate the program in the basic schools across the country. She advised students to take good care of themselves, say emphatically no and abstain from sex. “I believe that as a student you must focus on your studies, abstain from sex and protect your dream. Mandela once said that education is the best key”.
Mr. Charles Zuttah ( _Project Manager of Actionplus Foundation_ ) gave a short address on HIV/AIDS. In his speech he stated that the fact that we are not hearing about HIV education does not mean HIV is gone. He sympathized that “It is on record that HIV has killed people more than the First and Second World War put together. Now the new statistical information we have is that HIV and AIDS has killed 320,000,000 people worldwide. There has never been any illness like this one and so we have to pray that there should never be in human history where one ailment can kill so many people”.
The Head of ART at the Ashaiman Polyclinic and the Resource Person on the occasion, Madam Roberta Araba Amoquandoh educated the students on the four modes of HIV Transmission which she enumerated as through infected blood, breast milk, vaginal fluid and semen. She further clarified that when one comes into contact with an infected blood the person can contract HIV. When a nursing mother has HIV and she breastfeeds her child, the chances of transmitting the virus to the baby according to her is high. An interactive concept ignited the curiosity of the students who made some significant contributions to the lecture. The program came to a successful end with Madam Grace Afi Hadzor officially launching the CHEP Initiative at Boso D/A JHS with a school population of 120 students.
The next school on schedule was Boso Anglican JHS located some few meters from Boso D/A JHS at Anum Boso at the Asuogyaman District in the Eastern region.
The Headmaster of the school Mr. Saku Samuel in his welcome address expressed his profound appreciation for being part of the selected schools in the district. “I’m highly honored to have the privilege to be given the opportunity to give a welcome address for this august occasion. Boso Anglican Basic School compounding of Kindergarten, Primary and JHS were established in 1954, 1992 and 2004 respectively. Currently the schools total enrolment stands at 503 with 18 teachers. It is by divine orchestration that this launching is taking place in our school today. I hope it will have a positive impact on the students and the community as a whole”.
The session took off with the purpose of gathering and a short address by Mr. Charles Zuttah who in his remark noted that Actionplus Foundation Ghana and UK is an organisation that is letting the world know that HIV is still alive and killing people. He reiterated that “Actionplus Foundation is an organisation that is stepping in where everybody is silence on the silent killer, HIV and AIDS. I’m here to let you know that Ghana has been silent about HIV and its prevalence. Some years back we used to hear everywhere that HIV is a killer disease for people to prevent themselves from acquiring it. Now you are no more hearing it”. In his closing remarks he made a promise that the Foundation will form a peer to peer club in the school so that the students will be the best teachers to themselves.
The keynote address was delivered by Madam Afi Hadzor followed by group of students who entertained the audience with amazing songs and choreography. Thereafter, the Resource
Person, Madam Roberta shed more light on the deadly HIV virus. She continued to advise the students to abstain from sex. She established that sex is the biggest way for one to acquire HIV. She said that one can only get HIV by having sex with an infected person and advised the students not to share any sharp objects like blade, scissors knife and needles with their friends. The curtain was brought down to a close by Mr. Zuttah who officially launched the CHEP initiative.
The next school on the program was Crossover International Academy located at Tongor in the South Dayi District in the Volta Region. The Headmaster of the school, Mr. David Yayravi in his address welcomed the guests to the function. He cited that “I’m very honored and humbled that even though there are many schools they’ve decided to choose us as one of them. It’s a privilege and honoring. I hope that they will start up the occasion and we will not let you down for selecting us as one of the launching acts of this program”.
The purpose of gathering was said by Mr. Zuttah who reminded the gathering that HIV is still alive, HIV is still killing and is very close to us. He emphasized that “Many people are contracting new infection and if we keep silence, we are not doing ourselves any good. For this matter Actionplus Foundation is here to launch the CHEP Program”.
The Resource Person Madam Roberta in her talk stated that she’s a nurse and has seen young ladies taking HIV medications because they allowed some barber, mason and drivers mate to deceive them with only Ghc5 _._ They don’t only get the girls pregnant but also give them HIV. Hence the girls and their babies will end up taking HIV medication.
She praised the young guys that they are handsome and should not allow any “sugar mommy” to tell them so. She added that not only the sugar mommy’s but their fellow men who lure and buy them mobile phones, slippers, Nike boots, watches, clothing’s etc. She urged them not to accept any gift from any stranger but rather learn today and when they grow up, start work and earn money they can buy all the gadgets they want for themselves. She told them to be content with the little their parents give them. She added that one can contract the diseases when they become greedy and lured into having sex. She posed the question if anyone of them (students) want to put on pampers when they are walking and they answered in the negative. She confirmed that she has seen men in pampers before because when the “pupu” and “wee wee” is coming they don’t feel it. She concluded by begging the final year students who will be going to SHS to report their seniors when they approach them with all manner of vague compliments.
The program came to a successful end with the launching of the CHEP initiative.
The last school visited was the Nkawkubew Presby JHS located in the Asuogyaman District in the Eastern region. The program outline for the function was not different from the one for the previous schools. The Headmaster of the school, Mr. Anyanah Godwin delivered the welcome address followed by the purpose of gathering by Mr. Charles Zuttah.
Madam Afi gave the keynote address followed by a lecture on HIV/AIDS by Madam Roberta who educated the student on the new trends to combat the menace.
The program was climaxed with the Launch of the CHEP initiative and sharing of T-Shirts to the staff and some selected students who have been appointed as peer to peer group executives

## **HIV/AIDS EDUCATION, COUNSELING AND TESTING EXERCISE HELD AT THE ASHAIMAN MUNICIPAL DISTRICT.**
Actionplus Foundation in collaboration with the Ashaiman Health Directorate and the Ashaiman Polyclinic as part of its fourth quarter programs organized an HIV/AIDS Education, Counseling and Testing exercise at the Ashaiman Kuffour lorry station in the Ashaiman Municipal District. Tables were set with all the necessary test kits for the nurses to enable have a successful programme. A PA. System placed at a corner of the venue treated participants with soft melodious tunes of Christian music. Officials of the event including the nurses and health personnel from Ashaiman Polyclinic, CATS, Actionplus team and the participants were well seated under canopies exclusively reserved for them. Ten (10) staffs represented the Ashaiman Polyclinic along with The Community Adolescent Training Supporters known as (CATS) who presented four (4) members. The Foundation was also represented by a team of two (2) staffs and four (4) volunteers.
Madam Roberta, the Head of ART at the Ashaiman Polyclinic and the resource person for the occasion educated the drivers, driver’s mates, commuters and hawkers going about their daily activities at the lorry station on the mode of HIV transmission and prevention.
The Community Adolescent Training Supporters (CATS) went round the station to educate and convince the public to come and get tested for free
The one- day event came to a successful end with 110 people tested and given free packs of
condoms. Officials were refreshed with food, water and drink.
## **ACTIONPLUS FOUNDATION CALLS ON GOVERNMENT TO INVEST IN HIV/AIDS EDUCATION CAMPAIGN TO SUSTAIN GAINS MADE OVER THE YEARS.**
Actionplus Foundation is a Christian Non-governmental Organisation (NGO) operating in the UK and in Africa. The foundation is worried that there is silence in the country about HIV/AIDS campaign to raise awareness of the pandemic. In the wake of this frightening event, the Chief Executive Officer of Actionplus Foundation Apostle Fred Osei-Annin and management scheduled a press conference at their office located at the premises of Nana Swiss building at Lashibi to call on government to invest in HIV/AIDS education and the raising of awareness of the prevalence of HIV in the country to sustain the gains made through the fight against the epidemic over the years..
Addressing the media during the news conference, the C.E.O of called on stakeholders and other organisations to work together to ensure that Ghana achieves the UN/AIDS 2030 target of ending the HIV/AIDS menace.
According to the 2018 UN/AIDS statistics, 37.9 million people globally are living with HIV. 1.1 million people died from AIDS related illnesses. 320 million people died from AIDS relates illnesses since the start of the epidemic. Current data shows that the prevalence rate of HIV infection in Ghana stands at 1.7%. In 2017 the figure was 1.47 which made Ghana the 34th country with the highest infection rate out of 196 countries in the world with Swaziland having the highest rate. The figure according to Actionplus Foundation is slightly higher than the previous year. According to Apostle Fred Annin, although some successes have been chalked, there is the need to do more in the fight against HIV/AIDS. He stated that “With our experience in the HIV/AIDS campaign over the years we have found that when people hear more about HIV they become aware that HIV is still with us and therefore take positive precautions in order to prevent themselves from acquiring the virus. We at Actionplus have noticed that there is silence on the HIV/AIDS campaign in the country”.
Apostle Fred Annin mentioned that the HIV/AIDS menace is still with us and silence on the spread of the infection makes it thrive. Giving some national and regional statistics he said the Greater Accra and Ashanti Region have the highest prevalence rate. “Let me give you a few statistics regionally from the Ghana AIDS Commission. Greater Accra and Ashanti Region have the highest prevalence rate of 3.2 percent while the Northern Region has the lowest rate of 0.6%. The Western Region followed with 2.4% taking the third position and Volta Region occupying the fourth position with 2.3%”.
“Our concern as an advocacy group is that if care is not taken Ghana might relapse into a high prevalence rate. We wish to draw government attention to the need to invest in the campaign and education of HIV/AIDS. This is the only way to reduce the incidence of the prevalence of HIV. The silence of HIV prevention campaign these days is very alarming and is the new danger posing to us as humans as much as HIV is concerned”, Apostle Fred stated.
Apostle Fred observed that the stigma around HIV and discrimination against people living with HIV is still a barrier against HIV intervention and young people are also getting infected daily because of lack of HIV education in our schools and therefore urged all HIV advocacy groups to re-intensify the campaign to zero the prevalence of HIV.
According to the Chief Executive Officer, the Foundation will continue to campaign against the disease and take the HIV education to every corner of the country although they have limited resources. Apostle Annin called on government and other organizations to partner the foundation to break the growing silence of HIV/AIDS awareness.
Apostle Fred in his closing address stated that “Our aim is a world where people affected by HIV do not experience poverty, ill health and prejudice. We do this by supporting people living with HIV/AIDS by empowering them with different life changing activities, training and counselling so they can play a central role in improving their own lives leading to permanent solutions“. Ms. Yasmin Dunkley ( _HIV and Sexual Health Trainer from the UK_ ) who was in the country to train Healthcare workers and their stakeholders, in a short message highlighted on the new scientific interventions which are accessible today to prolong lives of those living with HIV. She further explained that the concept of PrEP and PEP and U=U which signifies that individuals with HIV who receive antiretroviral therapy (ART) and have achieved and maintained an undetectable viral load cannot sexually transmit the virus to others. After the conference, the media men were given the opportunity to ask further questions.
## **FREE HIV AND SEXUAL HEALTH TRAINING FOR HEALTHCARE AND EDUCATIONAL PREFESSIONALS HELD AT THE ASHAIMAN MUNICIPAL DISTRICT (FUNDED BY RICHAR KING BEQUEST).**
The walls of primary prevention and its intervention through education and the creation of awareness of HIV which used to be a norm across diverse communities is now broken down completely especially here in Ghana. This situation according to Apostle Fred Osei-Annin _(CEO of Actionplus Foundation)_ if not carefully considered can take us back to start the fight against HIV all over again. In light of this event the management of Actionplus Foundation Ghana, in collaboration with the Ashaiman Municipal Health Directorate and a team from the United Kingdom, held a free HIV and Sexual health training program for healthcare, workers, clinicians, health proffessionals and HIV advocacy groups at The Church of Latter Day Saints located at Ashaiman in the Ashaiman Municipal District.
The ( _Project Manager of Actionplus Foundation_ ) delivered the purpose of gathering and introduction of guests. Apostle Fred Osei-Annin in his keynote address gave a brief background of the origin of the HIV menace, the fight against the barrier of stigma and discrimination, the mode of transmission, prevention, abstinence and new trends in scientific innovation. He further stated that “Until the 90 90 90 and 2030 targets set by UN/AIDS are
achieved we should not keep silent but continue to create awareness that HIV is still with us so that we can save more lives”.
Ms. Yasmin Dunkley, the resource person from the United Kingdom exhibited her profound knowledge on the course content of the training which included: HIV and Sexual Health Awareness and Updates, The Combination of HIV prevention Approaches, PrEP, PEP and U=U. The Language of HIV and HIV stigma, HIV testing, outreach and narrative therapy to support people at risk of having HIV and persons living with HIV. A sheet of paper was distributed among participants to rate their level of knowledge about HIV. Participants were formed in groups to discuss and share their awareness on the various topics for calibration and selfassessment. They were trained from the essentials of HIV to the new scientific interventions available to reduce transmission in order to achieve the UN/AIDS 2030 Agenda 90/90/90 initiative. She stated on record that “330,000 cases of HIV acquisition were within children under the age of 14”. She urged participants to think about people first in order to reduce stigma and discrimination _._ “She said let’s think about people and treat them as humans to avoid stigma and discrimination.
The informative and interactive workshop involving 278 participants from the Ashaiman Health Directorate, the staff and management of various units from Ashaiman Polyclinic, the ART Unit, Community Health Nurses from various sub-municipal, Community 22 Polyclinic, Private facilities, Tulaku Health Center and Jericho Health Center to part in the discussion.
Ms. Yasmin Dunkley presented certificates to all participants and were also refreshed with food and drinks by the Foundation.The Municipal Director for Health at the Ashaiman Health Directorate Mrs. Patience Ami Mamattah commended the Foundation for putting up such a wonderful workshop to educate the Health Service on the new trends in HIV intervention. The director in her speech stated that, “It’s a very good opportunity for Ashaiman and it’s good we keep building on our knowledge as professional health care workers, so I’m very happy we have been able to make it to this point. All that we are doing is to enhance care and service delivery and we’ve made it in our numbers and the participation is good. Infact for you to have even told me that you are hungry, you are tired and you you’ve learnt a lot means that you have really been here”. She thanked all participants for attending.
## **IN THE UK**
The UK, the Actionplus Foundation organised 12 workshops for young people in London. The organisation also embarked on community HIV awareness education in collaboration with our partners in Luton. The organisation also organised a free confidential HIV testing at In His Presence Worship Centre, Rothesay Road, Luton LU1 1QX.
## **SUMMARY**
Our organisation despite the limited resources coupled with the numerous commitments to address at the same time, has once again managed to impact the world with our advocacy and awareness campaign through our successful “Take Action Now Model”. The campaign around Europe and the Sub-Saharan Africa region is growing bigger and saving many lives so we give God all the glory for making us to be part of this noble intervention. Finally “HIV is real and is still around us and so let’s keep fighting against it to help make the UNAIDS target of making the world free of HIV by 2030 a reality.

## _**INDEPENDENT EXAMINERS' REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 JANUARY 2021**_
We have examined the financial statements on pages 23 to 27 for the year ended 31 January 2021 which comprises the statement of financial activities, the balance sheet and the related notes. These financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention and the accounting policies set out therein.
The report is made solely to the Charity's Trustees, as a body, in accordance with Section 44 of the Charities Act 1993. The Trustees of the charity are of a general opinion that an audit is not required in accordance with Section 43(2) of the 1993 Act, and have opted for an independent examination instead.
## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and auditors**
The Trustees, some of which are also the directors, have responsibilities for preparing the Trustees' Report and the Financial Statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards. These are set out in the Statement of Trustees' Responsibilities in the Report of the Trustees.
Our responsibilities as independent examiners of the charity are:
1. to examine the books and accounts of the charity in compliance with Section 43 of the 1993 Act;
2. to strictly adhere to the general directions provided by the Charity Commission under Section 43(7)(b) of the Charities Act 1993; and
3. to state whether particular matters have come to our attention in the course of our examination.
We report to you whether the financial statements have properly been prepared in accordance with United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice, the Companies Act 2006 and in accordance with the Charities Act 1993.
We also report to you whether the information given in the Trustees' Report is consistent with the financial statements. We consider the implications of our report if we become aware of any apparent misstatements or material inconsistencies with the financial statements.
In addition we report to you if the charity has not kept proper accounting records, if we have not received all the information and explanations we require for our work, or if information specified by law regarding trustees' remuneration and other transactions with the charity is not disclosed.

## **Basis of opinion**
Our examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions provided by the Charity Commission. The examination includes a review of the books and documents and other accounting records kept by the charity and comparing these with the accounts presented.
Our examination also includes consideration of any unusual disclosures or items in the accounts and seeking explanations from the Trustees. It is imperative to state here that the procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair view'. Our report is therefore limited to the statements below:
## **Independent examiners' statement**
In connection with our examination, we report that no matter has come to our attention, which gives cause to believe that the following have not been met:
1. Keeping proper accounting records in accordance with Section 386 and 387 of the Companies Act 2006.
2. Preparing accounts which accord with the underlying accounting records and which are in compliance with the Companies Act 2006, the United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice (UK GAAP), the Statements of Recommended Practice (SORP) - Accounting and Reporting by Charities and the Charities Act 1993.

## 1. **Principal accounting policies**
The following accounting policies have been applied in dealing with items which are considered material in relation to the charity's financial statements.
## **Basis of preparation**
The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention and in accordance with the Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) "Accounting and Reporting by Charities" (revised 2005), Companies Act 2006 and applicable Accounting Standards.
## **Funds**
General funds are unrestricted funds available for use at the discretion of the Trustees in furtherance of the general objectives of the charity and which have not been designated for other purposes. There are no restricted funds.
## **Incoming resources**
Voluntary income, comprising donations in the form of regular offerings and tithes, provides core funding. This is recognised where there is entitlement, certainty of receipt and the amount can be measured with sufficient reliability. The value of services provided by volunteers is not incorporated into these financial statements. Further details of the contributions made by volunteers can be found in the Trustees' Report.
## **Resources expended**
Expenditure is recognised on an accruals basis as liability is incurred. Charitable income and expenditure is allocated to the respective activities and any shortfall is funded from unrestricted funds.
## **Resources expended - continued**
Direct costs comprise those costs incurred by the charity in the delivery of its activities. It includes both costs that can be allocated directly to such activities and those costs of an indirect nature necessary to support them.
Governance costs include those costs associated with meeting the constitutional and legal requirements of the charity.
Irrecoverable VAT is charged against the category of resources expended for which it was incurred.

## 2. **Emoluments to the Trustees**
No emoluments were paid to the Trustees. The Trustees however, are reimbursed for expenses incurred by them in the course of their duties.
