Meons tested awords gre detemilned by the Scholarship & Bvrsory Sub-committee
(Heodmosler, Bursar and Chaimian of Governtsrsl following an examination of means and a
horrt visli by an Independent assessor. In the Summer Temi of 2022 there were 30 thlldren
receiving such awards, attending the School when they would oihefwise have been unoble.
In ordèr lo preserve continuity of edvcotion, means tested awards may be granted in case5 of
hardship. Fee assistance, which is funded entlrely from fee Inco￿, accounted lor 4.1 0/0 of the
School's total fee income.

The Sthool is on equal opportunliles employer and recognises the wealth of experience
amongst its staff and encourages participation by them in making decisions Ilkely to affect

In common with other independeni sthools, Soini Ronon's School has, over the year5, invested Its
surpluses into mainlaining the fabric of the estate and improving the educational fuclllties. At
the year-end, St Ronon's hod totol funds of £3,665,277, Oll of whlch wos unreslricled12021:

The Govemors monage and monitor the financial strengih and reserves of the School on o termly
bo5is vio munogement accounts und cash flow forecasts prepared by the &ursor. Finantial
budgets and forecasts have been prepared for the periods to 31 $1 July 2027. A key component
of the School'5 f inancial performance is pupil numbers. whlch continued to be ol u hlgh leyel in
September 2022 thereby providing a high degree of certulnly tor a positive financial
operating result in the f inaneial year lo 31 July 2023. The School holds o cash reserve and an
overdruft facility to ensure that thero qre Suff icient liquid knds ayailoble to meel ony shortFoll
arising f rom short term fluclvutions In its Income ond expenditure operthlng models and to glye
Sufficient lo take the necessory corrective ocilon. The Govemors hove a policy of
bulldlng up o cosh reserve to ensure that there are sufficieni liquid funds availoble lo help deal

In maklng thelr golng concern assessment the Goyemors have consldered a perlod of ot least
12 months following the dote of approval of this report and detennined that there ore no
moterlal uncertainties about the khool's obility to continue as o going ccffltern.

8. RF.VIEW OF ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
Pandemi<
COVID-19: The Sthool has had to adapt COll5tontly during the year to the chunglng threat und
the occompanylng guldance updates from ihe Govemmenl ond DfE. Thi$ brought about many
changes to the operotional framework and practices the School employed, especially wlth the
arrlval of the Deho and Omi¢ron Yoritsnts.
Enhanced cleonlng reglmes were mointuined, especially to touch points. These meowres proved
successful in limiting the number of COVID-19 cases. In line with national guldonce, the School
remalned open during ihe whole yeur. There were notable spikes in coses during the aulurnn
ond winter periods, which adversely offected both pupil ond teaching populotions. The lalter
coused some turbulence to less¢Jns that required cover to be provided on a regular basis.
During the yeor the School hosted local health teams and mony the Year 7 und Yeor 8 oge
gr<)ups were vuttlnoted.
Through0￿ the period Governors ond SMT met regularly. Risk assessments were drown vp and
reviewed wlth meosvres implemented to make Soint Ronon's u COVID-19 Secure workplace, 0$
per the ever-chonging gvidonce.
Operational PgrFom)un¢e of the School
In o Similar way to last yeor, the School, Its staff and pupils rose wonderfully lo wh¢tever
chtsllenge was thrown their way throughoul the year. Sixty-four children left the School and
secured ploces ol twenty different senior schools, omussing twenty-slx scholorships. Highlights
included the wonderful Floreoi Concert ot the end of the Spring Temi and the relurn of many
regular School events, such as Thè Feast and Founders. Doy.
Havlng been named TES Prep School of the Year in Spring 2021, we were also dellghted to
have been shortlisted for several other presligious award5. Wt were a f inallsi In Tolk
Educotion's 'PO￿or01 Core ond Wellbeing. ¢wurd,. MtKldy Siilemos 'Be￿ Sense of Humour, tsnd
'Best Experiential Leaming, awords; ond shortlisted for IrKlependent School of the Year

'Perfoming Arts. award.
In May 2022 the School finolly received the overdue call to notify us of our ISI combh￿d EQI
and RCI Inspectlon. h was pleasing that this resulted In full complionce with oll slcndord& and
on 'Excellent' rating in both ar￿$ of Educatlonal Quality.
In odditlon, the School wus able to complete the redevelopment of the Couch House (science
classroom51. This projed hos signif icontly enhanced the teaching provision, with two new top of
the runge science laboralorie5 and accompanying preporation room
The Governors wish to thank the Headmaster and all staff for their incredible effort during the
year, and the pupils ond parents for the way they have wpported the School through this
turbulent period.
