Oaklands Church (an unincorporated association), Unit 19, Ynyscedwyn Enterprise Park, Ystradgynlais, Powys is registered with the Charity Commissioners (No. 1065893) and is constituted by Deed of Trust.
The charity is administered by a management committee, comprising:

The object of the charity remains the advancement of the Christian Faith by the proclamation and furtherance of the Gospel of God concerning His Son Jesus Christ the Lord and the preaching and teaching of the Word of God (The Holy Bible) by the Church. Accordingly, such other charitable purposes, as shall further the attainment of the above object, shall be carried out including community aid and activities for the benefit of the local community.
Membership & Attendance
Though the hangover of restrictions related to COVID-19 remained with us during this period, our churches were mostly able to meet in their respective locations. There were odd occasions when attendance registers weren’t kept, but from the records kept, the following is noted:

Hope Church had an average attendance of 26

River of Life Church had an average attendance of 45 (with a max of 60)

• Cribarth Community Church had an average attendance of 35
During this period, we met as a ‘family’ of churches (as Oaklands Church) on a monthly basis.
Restrictions did delay how quickly other church activities resumed. The following is noted:

Tuesday Club (for over 55s) met at the beginning of the period in question once a month, but began (and continues) to meet once a fortnight, with an average attendance of 15-20 people.

Little Buds (formerly Mums’n’Tots) met every Friday morning with an average attendance of about 10 adults & 10 children.

Our youth resumed meeting every Friday night, and enjoys an average attendance of about 15.

YoYo (for primary school aged children) resumed meeting every Friday evening, with an average attendance of about 16 (though some weeks have seen numbers in the high 20s.
As at 31[st] March 2023, the total membership of the charity was 54 individuals.
During the course of the year ministers of the church officiated at:

2 funerals (September 2022 & February 2023)

2 infant dedications (November 2022)
The Mission Shop
Though interrupted by occasional COVID-related restrictions, the charity shop was able to open as and when such restrictions allowed. That said, income suffered a little due to lack of volunteers and ill-health. The shop managed to achieve an income for the financial year of £10,316
In addition to the charity shop income, rental income of £4,200 was received in respect of the two bedroomed flat.
Charity Employees
Individuals employed by the charity during the year were:

Pastor R Steadman, Associate Minister (part-time [1 day per week], and also a trustee)

Mrs H W Yeoman, Pastoral Team (part-time [2 days per week] and also spouse of Pastor A P Yeoman)

Cleaners: Miss Cerys Jones (Oaklands) & Sian Harper (Hope Church)
Financial Summary
The charity is dependent on the financial commitment of members and other donations as the main source of income. Accordingly, total income for the year was £146,351.
Cash Reserves at the end of the year were £78,233 which included a balance of £2,031 in relation to the building projects. The available reserves equate to approximately 6 months operational costs.
Payments to Kingdom Bank in respect of the mortgage against Hope Church (Garnant) & 9 Commercial Street (Ystradgynlais) during the year totalled £12,754 of which £3,607 was capital repaid (the balance being interest).
Conclusion
The charity continues to develop and promote itself in the region, and it is the opinion of the Management Committee that the charity continues to operate upon a solid foundation on which to sustain a continued growth in accordance with its constitution.

Report to the trustees
I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended 31/03/2023.
Responsibilities and As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the basis of report accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
Independent I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have examiner's statement come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:

the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or
-
the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or
-
the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
