SPORTSREACH TRUST
ANNUAL REPORT
FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2024
__________________
The Trustees have pleasure in presenting their Report and Accounts for the year ended 31 December 2024.
The SportsReach Trust is registered with the Charity Commission number 1065723.
Objectives
The object of the charity is to advance the Christian faith through the vehicle of sport in the UK and abroad.
The charity raises income through gifts and donations from churches, individuals and trusts as well as from the running children’s Soccer & Netball Schools.
The charity’s main expenditure during the year was staff salaries.
Activities and Performance
The main activities of SportsReach over the summer months are the many Soccer and Netball Schools which take place nationally but especially in the North West of England where SportsReach is based. These five day schools followed by a presentation service at a local church give children the opportunity to learn football and netball skills, make friendships and hear the Christian message.
SportsReach Soccer & Netball Schools are fantastic fun and filled with encouragement to build up the children attending and every effort is made not to put anyone under any adverse pressure. Past experience has shown that the programme is entertaining, educational and promotes both spiritual and physical health and fitness.
The main activities during the rest of the year include the adult football and netball leagues. These attract people from many backgrounds and walks of life as we have found that sport is a great unifier when participated in a positive environment. Each match is accompanied by a short gospel presentation in accordance with our objectives and players listen attentively and respectfully.
In addition, SportsReach holds all day tournaments for both netball and football. These increase the scope and availability for more people to benefit from SportsReach programmes.
In 2024, SportsReach went to Germany, Austria and France with football tours for men and women. Participants gained valuable skills and encouragement, whilst the opposition teams were all glad to receive a friendly match and presentation of the Christian faith.
SportsReach also ran two mission trips to Kenya and worked alongside churches, other charity organisations, taking school assemblies, facilitating sports tournaments, all with the opportunity for showing the benefits of being involved with sporting activities alongside sharing the gospel message.
SportsReach also oversees raising of support towards Midanne International Academy in Kenya. Midanne International Academy gives children, whose families otherwise wouldn't be able to afford schooling, a valuable education.
