CHAIRMANS REPORT FOR 2021
Having survived another year of covid restrictions and lockdowns we have
entered 2022 in rude health and in a good position to continue our work of
helping needy children/families.
Over 2021 we have built on the positives that came out of the first covid year,
such as the card reader, "Mike's" storage cupboard, better processes in the
shop and sense of camaraderie. We have also raised our prices to reflect the
actions of other charity shops. l am pleased to note that the majority of our
customers still regard our offer as the most reasonable and affordable in the
area. Consequently, despite the shut down in early 2021, our sales income has
shown a strong recovery as Mike will report on in a minute. Our finances are
also strong helped by the sales and another grant of £7￿0 from the
government.
However, above all, our strong performance in 2021 and our current healthy
position is due to the dedication and hard work of all our volunteer5 and I
would sincerely like to thank you all for your commitment.
It is probably fortuitous that we are in a strong position as there are a number
of current major problems Ukraine. cost of living and the increase in child
mental health issues- which could result in a significant increase in requests.
So keep up the good work .
Finally, I would like to thank the executive committee members for all their
hard work especially Chris and Mike for their work as Secretary and
Treasurer/Maintenance Manager. I would also like to welcome Dawn as our
latest Committee member.
Thank you all, committee members and volunteers, again for everything you
did in 2021.
Andrew
