Summary of main achievements during the year
The Association received planning approval from Cornwall Council to build a new tennis court and replace the existing floodlights on the Multi Use Games Area (MUGA).
After being awarded £10,000 from the Garfield Western Foundation and £40,000 from the Community Infrastructure Levy the Association was able to undertake the work needed to rejuvenate the MUGA. New floodlights were installed replacing the old Halogen type with energy efficient LED’S, this has reduced the electricity usage of the floodlights by 50%. The old Matchplay2 surface was replaced after approximately 18 years of use. The old football goals were replaced with new bespoke goals, manufactured and fitted by local business SG Customs. The MUGA is now in a great condition that will hopefully serve the community for many years to come.
The improvements made to the MUGA have already made a huge impact on usage. There has been an increase in football being played by men, ladies and children and the local school uses the facility weekly during term time. Tennis coaching sessions are full, new initiatives have started including walking tennis and pickleball and both were huge successes and are now regularly played. Over 160 people now use the facilities each week, this is an increase of approximately 40% compared to 2023.
The Association has been able to support the Cricket, Football and Tennis clubs this year by subsidising their electricity costs using the Feed In Tariff from the solar panels.
Financial Review
Cash at bank on 31 December 2024 was £16,194 in unrestricted funds. Financial risk is minimised by setting annual subscriptions at a level which will cover normal anticipated operating expenditure and maintain a level of contigency reserves which the trustees agree as appropriate. Expenditure out of the ordinary and capital item expenditure will not be incurred unless funds are sourced from grants, donations or from reserves set aside for that purpose.
Declaration
The trustees declare that they have approved the trustees' report above
