The Cherry Kids Club provides after
school care for three of the local
primary schools: Bewick Bridge, the
Spinney and Cherry Hinton CoE primary
school. A walking bus is provided to
safely transport the children to the main
premises at Bewick Bridge.
Our aim is to always ensure the care is
of the highest standard possible with
the lowest session cost to ensure that
there is the broadest use of the club. At
its heart, the club is a place for children
to play, make friendships, have fun and
to learn over and above the care
required by parents and carers.
Clubs are also provided at half-term for
children who attend breakfast or after
school care. These allow the children to
attend one or multiple days.

issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit

Financial Review

Financial Review
Review of the charity’s
financial position at the end
of the period
Para 1.21 The Club has not yet managed to get
back to its pre-pandemic attendance
rates and closed 3 consecutive years in
deficit (FY20, FY21 and FY22).
Therefore, in the beginning of FY23, the
Committee members and the Club’s
manager agreed on the following
measures to avoid deficit:
-
To increase the daily fee for After
School and Holiday Club
provisions;
-
To implement cost-cutting
measures, such as changing
payroll provider and reducing
staff hours;
-
To cancel Holiday Club
provisions unless the minimum
number of attendees required for
break-even is met.
The Trustees are pleased to report that
such measures were successfully
implemented and resulted in the Club
closing the year with a modest surplus
of £768 for the first time since the Global
pandemic hit.
Statement explaining the
policy for holding reserves
stating why they are held
Para 1.22 The Club holds a bank account for day-
to-day operations, and also a building
society account which serves as the
reserve fund so we can ensure
continuation of care should an
unforeseen situation arises or if the
Club wishes to make improvements at
its setting and/or an extraordinary
purchase.
