Message from the Cha5r and Chief Executl¥e
2020 was a year like no other. It began with the joy of MAF Teaching its 75th year, and ended wlth a second
lockdown caused by coronaviru5, the cancellatlon of a celebration event planned for Westminster Central
Hall, and a reduction in flying in many MAF programmes.
It was a150 a year of great sadness when, on 29 August 2020, Stuart Kln& one of MAF'S founders, went to be
with the Lord. Stuart, the Normandy landings veteran, englneer, pllot, visionary and missionary who played
a vltal pioneering role in MAF'5 early days, continued as President EmeritU5 until departing for glory at the
age of ninety-eight.

And yet, despite the challenge5 of what has been a difflcult year, God enabled us to contlnue flylng for life-
albeSt at a signlflcantly reduced level- our pllot5 and personnel holding on to the words of Psalm 46'.7, The
lord Alrni8htY 15 with us,. the God of Jacob Is OUT fortre5S.'
Lockdown In many of the countrles MAF serves had an immedlate Impact on fll8ht operatlons, wlth every
fllght to each locatlon Inf(ially requlrin8 speclal permission.
Havlng found ways to make our service Covld-19 secure, MAF plane5 dellvered face masks, coronavlrus test
klts and hand sanitlser to a variety of remote locatlon5 in Afrlca and the Asla.Paclllc reglon, continuing to
help save Ilve5 and serve where posslble a5 part of the initial response.
The year of our 75th annlvefsary was a year In whlch we proved, yet agaln, that the steadfast love of the Lord
never ceases (Lamentatlons 3'.22-231, and we praise Him for enablin8 thls to be so.
A year of God's l•Sthfulness
As the 2020 Trustees, Report shows, the same God who was with Stuart at the very start of MAF'S fled8lln8
mi55ion, and who has led us falthfully for the last 75 years, enabled MAF lo contlnue brlnging help, hope and
heallng to people Ilvlng In some of the poorest and m05t difficult-to-access areas of the world.
The coronavlrus pandemic caused hltherto unseen levels of economSc uncertalnty, hospltalisatlons,
coronavlrus-related deaths, the need for Isolatlons and lock downs. cancellatlons and threats of job losse5.
Despite thls, our wonderful donors ￿maIned extremely generous and loyal. Even wlth churches shut and
events cancelled, donatlons and prayers continued to flow In. Our teams In the UK all mlgrated to workinB
from home, making a huge effort to adapt searnle5sly to the new situation In whlch they found themselves
so that our operations here could coniinue, enabling us to support our beneficiarles overseos and be best
placed to further serve as global ￿$trICtIonS are Ilfted.
It was a year in which MAF alrcraft delivered food to Arnhem Land's indlgenous inhabitants, brought
healthcare to remote TanzanSan vlllages, carrled out medical emergency fli8ht5 in Papua New Guinea,
transported coronavirus test krf(s to hard-to-reach towns in Liberla, Chad and South Sudan. brought corn to
an i51and in Timor-Leste following a disastrous crop failure, and dellvered humanitarian relief to those who
had lost thelr homes when flooding displaced more than 25,IXKI people in Kasese, Uganda.

2020 was also the year in which, apart from restructurlng our proBrammes in Arnhem Land and Kenya to
serve our partners more efflclently, MAF continued to expand Its ministry, with work progressing well o
new airstrip in Lailenpi, Myanmar, and encouraging progress being made in establishing a west Afrlca base
with the new hangar in Liberia being completed.

It was also a year in which we thanked God for the faithful serwice of our 30 UK-origin missionary staff and
their families, adapting to new working condltlons and keeplng MAF ready to serve whenever the situation
allowed.
In the Operat*)nal Impact section of thls Report. we have the privilege of sharing just a small number of the
many inspirallonal 5torles that show God's love at work in countrie5 such as Bangladesh, Chad, Kenya, Llberia,
Papua New Guinea, South Sudan, Tanzania, Tlmor-LestÈ and Uganda.
We received many 8ifts in honour of Stuart King's life and we created a new fund in his name. The fund wlll
help to finance the technical traSninB of both UK and inteinational candidate5 in the skllls they need to seNe
with MAF. Equipping a new 8eneratlon In th15 way will enable us tocontinue to respond to the ever-increasing
need for our mission around the world and serve a5 a fltting part of Stuarfs great legacy.

Llke many other or8anlsatlons, the challenges have been slBnlfitant for MAF. However, wherever possible,
we have responded to the challenges and managed to stay strong* Stlcklng to Stuart's unwavering vlslon and
commltment to servlng Isolated people now, and In the years to come.
Through the gifts and prayer5 of our wonderful supporters, we were able to keep our planes flylng wherever
posslble- 2020 belng a year In which we not onlygave thank5 to God forthe present and the past, but looked

The Trustees confirm that they have had regard to the guidance on publlc benefit published by the Char
Commission in exercisinB thelr powers and duties. As illustrated In thbs Trustees, Report, MAF UK supports
the worldwlde work of MAF, whlch alms to reach people Ilvlng In Some of the most isolated parts of the
world.
In many countrles, Insecur6ty can render road travel hlghly dangerou5. MAF'S fleet of118ht alrcraft enables
access to remote communltles, connectlng th05e in need wlth those that can help. Even In places where it is
safe to travel, there may be no road5 or, if roads do exist, they can become Impassable for months at a tlme
due to natural dlsasters, adverse weather condltlons and confllct.
Op•r•tlon•l Impact
Before the coronavlrus pandemlc, words such a5 'soclal dlstancin8', 'shleldlng' and 'lockdown' were mostlv
unknown. In 2020, however, they became chlllln8ly famlliar. But the￿ is one word wfth which MAF personnel
have always been aware, and thal Is 'isolation'.
One of the reasons we exlst Is to combat 1501atlon by flylng humanStarlan rellef and splrltual hope to
communitles that are cut off,
The biggest Impact of Covid-19 was on our abS11ty to fly. MAF fllghts were drastlcally reduced because of
lockdown In the countrles In whlch we operate, although this varled from natlon to natlon.
When the ouibreak first be8an, only 15% of our fllghts were able to operate. Although reglons like Arnhem
Land In North Australla were untouched by the coronaviru5, and we were able to continue flylng in countries
such as Liberia, Souih Sudan and Bangladesh, the pandemlc adversely Impacted oui programmes. As the
year pro8re5sed, however, MAF flight hours slowly Increased a5 lockdown5 Ilfted and fllght bans were
removed.
De5plte thls slgnlficant decrease In the number of fi18hts carried out by our 138 118ht aircrift, we were
neverthele55 able to respond swlftly and efficientty to the needs of Isolated people In 28 developing
countrles.
During 2020, our pllots flew to some 1,4(Kl remote and inaccessible locations, enabllng ald and Telief
organisations, churches and individuals to care for thousands of vulnerable people.
The followlng Is an example of some of the actlvlties carried out by MAF programmes in Africa and the Asia-
Pacific region iIIu5trating that, desplte Coviil-19. MAF continued to brlng help, hope and healin8 to some of
the world's poorest ind remotest regions.

South Sudan, brln8ln8 hope since 1950
In South Sudan, where decades of civll war and oppression have left vast regions of the country impoverished,
we transported four Land Cruiser tyres, PPE and food to Holy Trinity Peace Vlllage in Kuron - I community
made up of different tribe5. ethniclties and faiths livlng peacefully together.
We a150 flew coronavirus test kSts to Wau- a two-hour flight from the capltal Juba - at the request of the
World Health Organisation and South Sudan'5 Ministry of Health. Other MAF flights delivered flipcharts and
training materials to raise awareness of coronavirus in Pariang County, and transported 2 tonnes of oranges,
bananas and biscults, along wlth medical supplies, 50ap and locally manufactured face masks, to Padeah.

5,Crf)O solar powered radios were flown to Malualkon in the north of the country on behalf of partner, Every
Village which broadcasts Christlan pro8ramme5 In local languages. Pllot Wim Hobo explains 'you can
di5tTlbute Bibles but for many people who never learnt to read, the radio is much more accessible. Wlth lust
one of these radlos ihe whole family can listen together. Such a small devlce has suth a bl8 Impact. Thousands
of people can be reached for the Gospel wlth just one plane load of cargo.,
Papua New Gulne•• provldlng a Ilfellne slnce 1951
In Papua New Gulnea, where many communitles are Isolated due to impenetrable Jungles, mountain5 and
5w3mps, a boy bitten by a death adder Sn mountalnous Owena was flown to hospltal lust In tlme. Fortunately*
the poison hadn't made Its way Into Naha's bloodstream, and the youngster was able to receive treatment
before It was too late.
In the lowland distrlct of Morehead, we flew PPE to healthcare workers whose morale was at an all-tlme low
because they couldn't treat patients wlthout protectlve clothing. By brinBing In masks, 8loves and hand
sanitiser, as well as Workers from the Aerlal Health Patrol, we enabled the cllnids staff to provlde patlents
wlth the care they needed. In the1501ated community of Mou8ulu the 5ervlce of the local health centre was
restricted by an Snadequate power supply. Our technology team Installed a solar power system enabllng the
centre to offer thelr patlents a round-the-clock servlce.
We also offered Insplratlon when Oksapmin Secondary School Sn Tekln wa5 c105ed due to coronavlrus wlth
Communications Offlcer Mandy Glass suBgestln8 that, as a speclal assl8nment, students could wrlte about
the many beneflts MAF had brought to thelr communlty.
Kenya, seNln8 slnce 1959
In Kenya, where overland travel can be dan8erous by day and treacherous at nlght, we alrlffted two bables
from arld Dukana, and flew them to Kllabe Hospltal. MAF Pllot Danlel Loewen-Rudger5, who arrlved at
Dukana with an AIM AIA nurse, 53id, 'It was a mlracle that we could fly them to a very good hospital like
Kljabe durlng the pandemic., Although ten-month-old baby Isako died because he had TB, two-day-old
Barako Survived an operation that only a couple of surgeons in the whole of Kenya were able to perform-
making him the youngest baby to survlve thls kind of heart 5ur8ery In the country.
Another flSBht, for Christlan charity RedTribe, picked up TV presenters and a film crew that had documented
development projects that enabled the Maasai people hidden away in the remote Lotta Hllls to receive
heakhcare, eduCat￿n and a Ilvelihood.
'The flight was quite 3mazin&' Shared one of RedTrlbe's founders. 'It was booked wlthout knowlng how the
world would suddenly change due to coronavlru5. Wlthout thelr partnership. we'd be stuck. It's so important
that partners and volunteers can visit the projects, and MAF 15 making this pos5Sble, It's an amazin8 Wltne5sI'

Tan23nla. flylng for life since 1963
In rural Tanzania, where there is a dangerously inadequate network of dirt-track roads, MAF aircraft played
an essential part in providing essential healthcare. As part of a re8ular medical safari, we flew a team from
Haydom Lutheran H05Pltal to the vllla8e of Gorimba, enabling the 4 nurses to examlne 126 Pregnant women,
inoculate 585 children and check the he3￿h of 223 youngsters.
Chad, reachlng Isolated people sln¢e 1966
In Chad, one of the poorest nations on earth, buses weren't all¢)wed to run because of the pandemic, so MAF
partnered with the Ministry of Health to transport coronavirus test kits to hard-to.reach towns such as
Abéché.
We also carried out a fllght for the Sahara Conservation Fund to help track and transport è number of
endangered dama 8azelle to the NGO'S reserve so they could breed safety. Uslng alrcraft to cover the
extenslve area where the graceful anlmals were Ilkely to be found, Pllot Phil Hender50n succe55fully tracked
four of them.
One of the gazelles, which wa5 flown by Phll In Our Cessna 182 - Its horn5 covered In tublng to prevent
damage to the plane - was named Becki In honour of Pllot and Operatlons Manager Beckl Dillingham. The
journey, Phil sald, wa5 Particularty excitin8 because the only animal cargo he had carrled before had been
two small rabbitsl
Arnhem Land, supportln8 the communlty slnce 1973
MAF Arnhem Land has been working on a project to brlng the 8lble to the Yoln8u In the form of solar-
powered audlo players. These players are loaded wlth Gospel material and worshlp muslc In Yolngu-matha.
Whlle physlcal Blbles are stlll belng translated and prlnted, these audio Bibles have qulckly galned popularltv.
In partnership with Bible Society Australia, MAF Arnhem Land has made 4¢￿ audlo players avallable for
dlstrlbution to the Yoln8U.

In Uganda, a countrythat has the largest number of relugees in Africa, we enabled Prlnce5s Marle of Denmark
to vlsit a number of prolecls as patron of DanChurchAld. We also flew the organbsatlon's General Secretary.

According to Pllot Rembrand Rodenbur& 'The Prlncess was real￿ engaged, and we talked about her work as
patron and what that meant to her., Thank5 to Rembrand's flight, the Prlncess was able to visit the Ornugo
Refugee Settlement where she chatted wlth families involved In a prolect that provldes sustainable climate
solutions for refugees Ilvlng In Arua, Yumbe and Karnpala.

Although flights In Uganda were grounded from 22 March owing to the coronavirus pandemlc, in May MAF
received special permlsslon to dellver 38,400kg of emergency supplies, food and water to communities thal
had been left wlth nothlng when schools, houses, farm5 and health facilitie5 were subrner8ed under a torrent
of water after four rlvers In the Kèsese district burst thelr banks. With 19 evacuation centres set up to help
the 173,000 people who had losttheir home5, MAF'S Dlsaster Response Team wa5 delighted to fill our aircraft
wlth supplies donated by the Ugandan Prime Minister and various NGOS.
The U8andan authoritie5 gave permission to resume domestic passenger flights on 23, September. The flrst
flight took Lutheran World Fellowship's Director, Jesse Kamstra. to Adlumani to visit the refugee settlement
where LWF Is involved in water, Sanitation and hygiene projects and campaigns which dispel false information
about coronavirus. Pilot Greg Vine explain5. thls has also been a very diffScult time for beneficlarles who have

prevlousty accessed support and services from MAF'5 partners. IVS a great thing to resume passenger flyln8,
which has a dirert impact on the people we serve. Once again. we're helplng our partners to get the job

Ban8ladesh, enabllng partners slnce 1995
In Bangladesh, where millions of people live in one of ihe most densety populated and geo8raphically
unstable reglons on the planet. despite extremety limited flying, MAF Pilot and Country Director Sundar
Daniel worked closely with the government and Clvll Aviation Authority to flnd new ways to continue serving
the populous natlon.
With socbal distancing measures in plate - our floatplane disinfected after every fli8ht, temperature checks
tsken, hand 5anitiser provided and passengers given face masks when they boarded

humanitarian relief throuBhout the country a5 well a5 flying for the floating hospital run by the human6tarian
NGO and MAF partner Friendship.
Our floatplane also receSved special permlssion lo rescue a Swlss volunteer workin8 in an isolated area near
the Sundarbans, flyln8 her back to Dhaka 90 mlnutes before an international evacuatlon fll8ht left for her
homeland.

In Tlmor-Leste, where an estlmaled 50% of chlldren suffer from malnutrltlon, we brou8ht corn to Atauro
Island, followln8 a dlsastrous crop fallure.

Pilot Marcus Grey 500n found himself alrlffting two women wlth pregnancy cornpllcations and taking a four-
day-old boy who had problems with hls di8esllon to hospital.
Relief Pilot Brldget Ingham, who flew three NGO workers to the Iso13ted enclave of Oecusse, wa5 then asked
to fly the Presldent of Oecusse and four of hls staff to Dlll for a meetlng In Parllament. Arrlvlng at Dlli, we had
to turn the plane around Straight away for a medevac at Viqueque.
Llberla. supportlnl medl¢•l care slnce 2015
In Liberia, a country whlch has experienced two devastatln8 clvll wars and the rava8e5 of Eljola, and where
our new hangar was completed In 2020, Pllot Steven 81885 responded to a request from Llberia's Ministry of
Health to lty a suspected coronaviru5 vlctlm's test kit from remote Zwedru to the onty hospltal able to process
'If it wasn't for ourfllght,, Steven 5aid,'the medical team would have had a 20-hour louiney on terrible road5,
then back a8aln- with time wasted and many more potential infectSons. God has placed MAF here for Just
such 3 reason, and I feel prlvlleged io be here.

Oblecthies and Actlv5tles for 2020
MAF UK'S aim is to enable partner churches, misslons, humanitarian, relief and development agencles to
reach remote communities with the love of Christ by providing practical help and spiritual hope. The main
purpose and activity of MAF continues to be the provislon of subsidi5ed, safe and secure aviation 5ervlces In
parts of the world where travel by road Is Impossible, unsafe or too slow to reach i501ated areas. Christians
who share this aim use their skills in aviation and other fields to partner with national churches, relief and
development agencies, misslons, hospltals and 8overnments to meel the most presslng of human needs.
MAF UK is a member of MAF Intemational IMAFII, which is an associatlon of Operatlonal and Resourcing
MAF Groups around the world, all with the same charitable objects, vislon and mi55ion. MAF UK'S charitable
actbvltles are achieved throu8h the provision of funds and staff. Funds raised in the UK for MAF work are
passed to MAFI whlch manages the overseas operatlons. Restrlcted funds are pa55ed across when they afe
received, and each year MAF UK makes an unrestricted grant to MAFI, which 15 given monthly. Thi$ grant Is
based on MAFI'S bud8eted need and MAF UK'S expecied Income. The overseas staff recruited and employed
by MAF UK ère seconded to MAFI.

To enable us to en8a8e wlth potentlal supporters, we had planned to attend a variety of events in 2020.
Coronavirus re5triction5 meint that these were cancelled, so we focused on raising our profSle and Increasln8
awarene55 In the media and onllne. We continued to grow our edltorSèl presen￿ In a wide range of medla
outlets including BBC Radio, The Tlme5, The Guordion, UCB and Premier Christian Radio. We used our social
media presence to augment the impact of medla coverage and to encourage ex15tlng and potentlal new
supporters to engage with u5 onllne.
Growlng partnershsps wlth supporters and trusts and developlng new opportunltles for donors to
fund core programme costs and capStal needs.
The coronavirus pandemic ha5 presented MAF wlth unprecedented challenges, not least the questlon of how
to engaBe wbth current and potentlal donors without belng able to meet face-to-face. Virtual contact, which
rapldly became the normi proved to be a hlghly effectlve method of enga8ement wSth our supporters.
We ran a 5erles of focused onllne events whlch Included contrlbvtions from Internatlonal staff. Donors
appreciated the Immediacy of this format and, wlth no travel Involved, we were able to engage with a hl8her
number of supporters than in previous years. The onllne meetlngs also resulted In several large and
unsolicited gifts towards core programme costs.
Trusts and Foundations responded to the pandemlc by releasing fundlng streams focusin8 on a Covid-19
response-often at a higher level than they would previously give. MAF was successful In several applications
for these revenue strands to support coronavirus flights throughout the programme.

In 2020, we hail plans for several physical events to celebrate our anniversary and inspire and engage with
SUPPOrter5. These included a series of events across Scotland, a Service of Thanksgiving In Manchester

Three hour-lon8 online events were held in November. The first, entitled 'yesterda￿, looked back at MAF'S
history. The second, 'Toda¢, featured contributions from staff and beneficiafie5 Ind updated vlewer5 on
MAF'S current attlvltles. These events were dellvered via Facebook and YouTube. The thlrd and final
programme, entitled 'Foreverf, was delivered Ilve vla Zoom and focused on prayer and thanksgiving.
Attendees heard about MAF'S plans for the future and were ableto join staff in prayer. These events received
total of 2,802 views.
We also produced Above ond Beyond, a commemorative hardcover illustrated book tellin8 the story of MAF.
This was offered for sale to supporters and ha5 been well recefved.

DurSng 2020 we sent two new post holders and thelr familles to undertake key operatk)nal roles in South
Sudan. We ran a number of recruitment initiatives, including a 5erle5 of onllne events for enqulrers, and are
hopeful that these wlll bear frult In the future. We also launched a new EnBineerln8 Tralning Scheme and are
delighted to have recruited a candidate who will be moving forward to englneerinB trainin8 and, eventually,
to overseas service.
The MAFTUM Inihe UK
Since March, the UK-based team has been worklng from home, adjustlng to a new vlrtual world wlth
communlcatlons and meetlng5 vla Skype, Zoom and Mlcrosoft Tearns.
As the year progressed, a small number of key personnel were able to work In the offlce on a part-tlme basls
In Ilne wlth the Government'5 coronavlrus regulatlons.
2020 started well, wlth the number of church bookln8s showln8 an increase over prevlous years. However,
owln8 to the coronavlrus, the Chrlstlan Resources Exhlbltlon In Telford was one of the very few events we
were able to attend physlcalty.
Wlth face-to-face meetlngs cancelled, we offered churche5 live presentatlons throu8h Zoom or pre-recorded
talks for Inclusion in online servlces. This enabled u5 to retaln contact wlth supportin8 churches and
encourage supporters to pray for MAF'S work.
Opportunities to speak online enabled us to reach more than 100 Churches and groups, wtth the last quarter
of 2020 seelng an Increase In requests from churche5 and opportunities to speak at Rotary Clubs online.
Considerable time was spent keepln8 our volunteer network motlvated through Zoom meetings, a virtual
conference wlth regional co.oTdinator5 and one-to-one meetin8s with team member5

Although 2020 was particularly challenglng due to a lack of face-to-face enga8ement, we malnlaSned regular
contact wlth ihe leaders of supportlng churches who want to proceed with their relatlonship with MAF when
restrlctlons on meetlng are relaxed.
MAF In Scotland
Although Covld.19 resulted In unprecedented challen8e5, It enabled us to conslder new ways of enga8lng
with supporters. In December, an online Chllstmas Famlly Fun evenlng ra15ed awarene$5 of MAF'S work,
hlghllghted the Stuart Klng Fund, and helped bulld a sense of MAF communlty.
Although five 75th annlversary events had to be postponed, we plan to hold the celebratlons In 2021. We
presented MAF'S work to varlou5 churche5 and organlsatlons onllne and saw an Increase In the number of
people engaging with us in thls way.
MAF Youth
Although 35 MAF Youth meetin85 had been booked by March 2020, 21 were postponed due to the
coronavirus, though we managed to stay connected by holdln8 onllne conferences for youth workers.
Our 2020 Advent Calendar campalgn was welcomed by 109 schoo15, wlth 25,000 chlldren recelvin8 an MAF
calendar and I,CIJO c13ssrooms requesting printable pack5 that contalned an MAF world map plu5 Other
resources for display in class. We also 518ned up 37 schools dlgltaI￿- makin8 a total of 146 schools, 32,310
schoolchlldren land famlliesl, and 1,274 classrooms.
In addltlon, we received more than 180 requests from prlmary and secondary schools for the MAF lesson
plans produced In partnership wlth RE Today, and have entered a partnership with one of the schools, which
starts in 2021.
The MAF Youth magazine continued to receive a very p051tive response, with plarns to relaunch the MAF
Youth panel In 2021 vla Zoom helping to ensure that It rem31ns relevant to ieena8eis.

International Staff
Our overseas staff largely stayed In country because they were anxlous to contlnue servlng where they were
needed, and so they could resume operational services as soon as possible. Owing to health concerns a small
number of staff returned home or were relocated and worked remotelv.
As borders closed and movement became restricted, this demonstrated a wonderful commltment to the
people and natlon5 they serve.
In 2020, MAF UK supported 30 UK International mission staff, accompanled by their famllle5, serving In MAF
programmes worldwlde. We also continued to assist several more 'llnked staff sent by other MAF groups
but with connections to the UK, helping them with support-raisln& administrative and pastoral care.
Desplte the clrcum5tances. one individual and one couple began their firsl assignment In South Sudan
followin8 successful support ralsin8 and pre-fleld orlentstlon.
We are pleased to support a further couple and thelr family who have been accepted for se￿Ice In Papua
New GuSnea and will move there In 2021. We are also encoura8ed by Several promlslng ¢andldate5 who are
at various stage5 of formal assessment.
We continued to explore, develop and test new ways of interactlng wlth potential candidates. The
eoronavirus pandemlc requlred us to move many of our face-to-face events onllne, and these were well
celved.
Desplle all the challenges of 2020, we are exclted to have launched our UK-based Englneerlng Tralnlng
Scheme to provlde a steady supply of qualified alrcraft maintenance engineers for MAF'S internatlonal
programmes, wlth our first candidate be8lnnlng tralnln8 In 2021.
Concluslon for 2020
2020 was a difflcult and unprecedented year for everyone.
The MAF UK team sought to produce Innovatlve communlcatlons digitally, in prlnt, and at vlrtual
presentatlons and events, all sharin8 our passion for reachlng remote and margbnalised people in great need.
Many people heard about MAF for the first time. some of whom went on to join our growlng team of
supporters, enabling us to serve an Increasln8 number of isolated people oversea5.
In 2020, God blessed us with new supporters and a wonderful level of donatlons from people who, havlng
understood the many challenges, have chosen to SUPPOrt MAF. Nearly £13m was recelveil for our much-
needed mlnistry. We give thanks for every gift, prayer, enquiry and hour of time given by our volunteers and
teams throughout the year.
Future Plans
Many people across the developing world continue to Ilve In need, cut off from the es5entlals of Ilfe due to
difficult terrain, formldable geographical barriers, civil war, or politlcal unrest. The demand for MAF'S servlces
In many countries is acute and. in the aftermath of the pandemic, Ss Ilkely to be even greater. We wlll
continue to look for opportlbnltles to share God's love in practical ways to serve the m05t impoverished and
1501ated people.
We remain cornmitted to continue growing and developing OUT communications and raisin8 our profile so
that we are recognised and known throu8hout the UK for our work overseas. We will do this through the

creative use of media and online channels. When Covid-19 lock.down re8ulation5 allow, we will also share
news of our work at Chrlstlan events and reactivate our volunteer network, once churche5 are open again
and meetings are belng held. Dolng so will help grow our fundraising and recruitment activities so that
increasing numbers of hard-to-access people can be reached antl thelr lives physicalty and 5piritualty
transformed. In the UK we have adapted well to working from our homes, and this may continue to some
extent when and rfthe workforce Is allowed to return tothe office. Any return would be carefully and strictlv
monitored to ensure safety of all 5LIff.
We are Incredlbly grateful for the generous support we recelve. We wlll contlnue to revlew our processes
and prartices to ensure that we maxlmise the funds available for overseas work.
In many ways, we find ourselves in a challen8in8 yet exciting point in time. Here in the UK we will continue
to ensure our staff can operate In a safe environment, whether at home or back In or office5, taking all

approval of the financlal statements. Given the exceptional circumstances of the CovSd-19 crls15, the 2021

but 31$0 informed by 2020 performance, The Trustees have concluded that, together wlth the reserves
e5tablSshed to help in such clrcum5tances, there Is a reasonable oxpettatlon that ihe charlty has adequate
resources to continue In operatlonal exlstence for the foreseeable future. The charlty, therefore, continues
to adopt the 8oin8 concern basis In preparing its financlal statements.
It Is the Board's pollcy lo reserve sufflclent funds to ensure the onBoln8 operatlons of MAF UK. The ￿serveS
Include a risk-asse5sed Base Reserve- during the year the risk elements were revlewed, and the Board declded
that the cornblned fund should have a target level of £3.7m. AddStSonally, other de51gnated funds may be
¢reated by the Board to help ensure MAF UK'S effectlveness. As a re8ular part of the 8oard's work, all risks
and reserves were revlewed, and any recommended changes have been Implemented. Detalls of all the

The Tralnlng Fund was established In 2016 to help accelerate the time taken for pilot5 and engineers to
become operational and to begin service earlier, reflectlnB the Incieaslng dlfficulty In recruRSn8 staff for

In 2018, the 2019 Projects fund was established by the Bozrd to fund projects identified for 2019 above the
expected 2019 Income revenues with a year-end balance of £Ok.
In 2018. the 2020 Projects fund was e5tabllshed by the Board to fund projects identifled for 2020 above the

The Stuart King Memorial Fund represents unspent donations ralsed In memory of Stuart King who sad
passed in 2020. The fund wlll be used to enable training and further tralnlng of essential staff overthe comlng

Structure, Governance and Management
Governin8 Document
MAF UK 15 a charitable company limlted by guarantee and a registered charity. It is governed by the Artlcles
dated 15 September 1997 and revised in Aprll 2015. In the event of the company being wound yp, members
are required to contribute an amount not ex¢eedin8 £10.
Appolntment of Trustees
The Trustees are elected by the Board. The number of Trustees may not be less than three but 15 not subject
to a ma¥lrnum. Trustee5 are elected for 3-year terms, up to a maximum of nine consecutive years.
Board decisions are made by majority vote.
The number of Members may not be less than two. The Trustees are also the Members.

flnancial reporting 5tandard5 as 155ued by the Flnancial Reporting Council.
We obtained an understandlng of how the charitable company complles wlth these requlrements by
dlscusslons with management and those charged with governance.
We assessed the risk of material rnlsstatemenl of the flnanclal statements, Includlng the rlsk of
material misstatement due to fraud and how it might occur, by holding discussions with management
and those char8ed with 8overnance.

Charity also prepared Sis flnanclal statements in accordance with the Statement of Recornrnended Practice applicable to charities
preparin8 their accounts accordance with the Fin8nclal Reportln8 Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IThe
FRS 102 Charities SORPI, the Companies Act 2006. the Charitie5 Act 2011 and Charlties Accounts (Scotlandl RegulatSon$ 2006 as
amended by The Charlties Accounts Iscotlandl Amendment (No 21 Re8ulatlDn5 2014.

partially lirnited by lockdown. but also Informed by 2020 performance. The Trustees have concluded that. tO8ether wlth the
reserves esrabllshed to help In such circurnstances, rhere is a reasonable expectatlon that the charlty has adequate resources to
contlnue In operatlonal existence for the foreseeable future. The charSty, therefore, continues to Adopt the golng concern basls In
