ABU-BAKR MASJID another new class (year8) for both boys and girls and started new short Islamic courses for brothers and sisters. In September 2023, the Madrassa was further expanded by starting 6 new classes for children age 5 - 19 years. This expansion was a significant milestone as the new classes provided opportunities to some of the elder children who never had the opportunity to learn the Islamic education including learning of Quran. This expansion also included a regular engagement programme for Teen age boys and girls in two separate classes running on every Sunday. During the year a number of extra curriculum activities were provided e.g. Madrassa children trip to Chessin8ton Park, summer camp, Ramadan Quran competition and a grand final assembly also took place in August 2023 to award and recognise the wonderful achievements of students as well as teachin8 Staff. Similarly, the Masjid services continued to be provided throughout the year. In addition to the normal congre8ational and funeral prayers, A8M invited various renowned Islamic scholars to deliver talks, held health workshops for both brothers and sisters and organised community fun day which was very well attended by the community. Masjid building maintenance and usual upkeeping of its facilities were maintained to the highest standard. FUNDRAISING: We continue to fundraise, primarily from the con8re8ation during Juma'h (Friday prayer) and Ramadan in particular. We also raised funds via pled8es on Eid day, the donations collected during the year were pretty consistent compared to the previous year with a slight increase of £15k. TRUSTEES REPORT FOR THE YEAR END 31 MARCH 2024: The Trust has regular donations coming through the standing orders plus weekly collections from community on Friday prayer. It is envisaged that this regular funding will continue into the foreseeable future. It is the Trust policy that unrestricted funds which have not been specifically designated for a specific use should be maintained at a level above six months expenditures. The Trustees consider reserves at this level will ensure that, In the event of a significant unexpected drop in donations, they will be able to continue the Trust's current actlvities while consideration is given to ways in which additional funds may be raised. The level of reserves malntained throughout the year was above this minimum level. Durln8 the year, there was no major expenditure related to any specific project, only the general malntenance of the bulldin85 and staff remuneratlons were the main expenditures.
