Objocts of the Charfty
The tharity was set up in 1997. The prfnapal object contlnues to be that of fund-rdlslng to assist and
promote the wort( of t1￿ Bone Maffow Trdnsplant Unlt at Singleton H(wAtal by providltyJ equipment or
servicts not ￿nnallY provthl by the Health Authortty. Also to promote research a￿1 d1￿mInatIOn into
tymphoma and leukaemla and assocIat￿l blo(xl diseases. The charfty has no paid workers and depends on
the efforts of volunteers for its actfvities.
The charity name was changed from Lymphoma & Leukaemla FurKI (Wales) to Lymphoma Leukaemla
Myeloma FurKI (Wales) at its AGM on 19 July 2010.

Achlevem¢nt• and Perfornianc4 In Ye•r
The charlty has continued Its VI￿rk of supportlng the Haematology Department of Swansea Bay Unlversity
Health Board. Visiting Ward 11 in Slngleton Hospital and reinstating contstt with the ward Stsff, and regularly
meeting wlth the Haematology Team, has ljeen an important element of our work thls year.
£304.00 was spent supporting the communty kYoJe¢ which urffortunately, Sin￿ COVID, has b￿n scaled
down and is prlmarily Of￿ based. £8,233.13 was spent on eqUipM￿t and some SL*ionery for Ward 11,
includlng trollles and overbed tables which badty fieed￿j repladng. The balan￿ was spent on the continued
runningi SUPPOrting ar#d admlnlstration of the charlty. A totsl of £9,472.
The charlty wlll contlnue to ffide finan￿ for h(wltsl equi￿ert arKI other MI￿lIaneOuS paknt support
where prudent.
Future Plans
Plans for the future are detemii￿1 by demarKls or suggesttons for equipment or projetts by the haematology
staff. Hen￿, to some exten¢ (￿r plans are the departsnenys plans. The trust￿ have rdnstated vislts to
Singleton Hospital and hold regular di5CUS5ions wlth the Ward staff and Haematology ManageTh*rt and
Medlcal Teams.
It was highlighted that patients very often eX￿erien￿ transport difflcultEs when attendillg H￿rnatOlOgY
appolntments at ￿)th Morrlston aThJ Singleton Hospitsb. It was agreed that the trustees would investigate the
possibilty of supporting a tsxi or Q)mmunity Car system that could be controlled by the admlnlstratlve team
In mo￿1￿￿. Sam Jenkins, Sery1￿ Manager, will provide average nUmt￿r5 to LLMF so that approxlmate costs
can be calculated.
The Trustees also pLin to spend time on Ward 11, communI￿ting wfch the patients and relatlves, to better
understand what frdcilities or arraNJements that could imprfft their experien￿ whllst uThdugoing treatrnent.
The increaseAI contstt with the Haematobgy Departn￿n( opening up discussions With the team, should also
generate opry)rtunltles to SUp￿rt them.

LLMF has agreed the funding of a new post of Physiciarls Assistant. PAS a￿ a new role of I￿alth professional
and tlwe is now a PA programme being run by Swansea unIver￿ty. LLMF will fund a 12 month de￿lopment
tralning programme On￿ a sultable candidate is seletted fojlowlng final exams In Novemt*r 2023. Thls will
be a first for HaeMat0k￿ In Wales.
