Who We Are & How We Operate
Wycombe Youth for Christ is a charity established in accordance with a constitution
adopted on 13th May 1997.
Charitable Objectives
a) To promote the Christian faith and to proclaim the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ
throughout the world and in particular (but without prejudice to the generality of the
foregoing) in High Wycombe (Buckinghamshire) and its environs.
b) To promote and encourage the Christian evangelisation of young people throughout
the world and in particular (but without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing) in
High Wycombe (Buckinghamshire) and its environs.
c) To promote and encourage positive Christian living.
d)To relieve poverty and sickness thereby demonstrating the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Organisational details
The charity works with children and young people aged between 5-18 years old. There
is a Director, paid Staff and a dedicated team of volunteers.
Governance
The Trustees meet on a regular basis with the Director to manage the work of the charity,
with other meetings held on an ad hoc basis.
The Trustees are appointed on 3-year terms by members at the Annual Ger)eral Meeting.
Trustees must agree with the doctrinal statement issued by the national umbrella
organisation, British Youth for Christ. The usual process followed in appointing Trustees
is for the existing Trustees to approach a person whom they believe would bring to the
trustee body useful skills and attributes. The Trustees will either co-opt them until they
can be appointed by members at a General Meeting or propose them for appointment
at a General Meeting.
There is no formal training for Trustees, other than giving them access to previous
meeting minutes and policy documentation. As Trustees are prominent members of the
local Christian community and have an established interest in Children's and Youth Work,
they will be aware of the work undertaken by Wycombe Youth for Christ.
The Trustees believe that in order for the trustee body to operate effectively there should
be no more than 6 Trustees. Currently there are 4 Trustees, and we seeking I more.
Public Interest
The Trustees confirm that they have had due regard to the guidance issued by the
Charity Commission in respect of public benefit. They consider that the achievements
for the past year clearly demonstrate that WYFC have fulfilled the requirement for
providing a benefit to the public.
Reserves Policy
The Trustees have felt the appropriate level of reserves to be at least 3 months, regular
expenditure, which is currently in the region of £30,000. Our free reserves at the year-
end were £82,131.

Review of 2022
Director's Report by Erica Holt
The last year has seen so much happen, that it can be difficult to recall
it all. What I do know, is that God has been at the centre of all that
we have done, as we have faithfully sought to follow His leading and
calling.
We said our goodbyes to both Caleb Fulton and Sharon Windsor, and hope and pray that
they continue to know God's calling on their lives. And delighted that in January 2023.
Kam Salah joined the Team to help support the ministry.
Our ministry continued to develop, strengthen, and grow, as we sought to fulfil the words
that God has given us to 'Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains
wide, do not hold back,. lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes, (Isaiah 54'.2, NIV).
In doing this we grew our ministry in the Princes Risborough area
having started with
Detached Youth Work in November 2021, this year saw our ability to support the
secondary school, and the establishing of a new weekly Youth Drop-ln. It has been
wonderful to see the speed of growth, not just in activities, but with relationships with
young people and with the churches.
We were also invited to explore how we can support the Marlow community, and we
have been speaking to Church Leaders and those in the community to understand how
we can be a benefit. The details are still yet to be set in stone, but we pray that God will
lead us and continue to pour His blessing out on the community.
Our heart is to continue to share the lover of Jesus
with children and young people, wherever they
are. It is wonderful that we are seeing the nature
of our ministry grow with both Schools and
Community work, that we are enabling people to
seek Him for the first time and helping to disciple
those who have a growing faith in Jesus. All of this
whilst working across a growing geographical
area.
I continue to hold to the words from
Ephesians 3..20 that God continues to be
. able to
do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine,
according to his power that Is at work within us .
(NIV) and all the glory and praise are His alone.

Darren Phillips: Schools & Outreach Worker
It has been another good year and once again God has been
faithful in the work we do with young people, and in how we are
able to build positive relationships with them.
This year we have seen a development of our work with
St. Michael's School, with the addition of work with Year 6 School
Transition during the summer and lessons (as part of the schools. Retreat Days), giving
us a great opportunity to connect with more young people in the school. We connected
with young people who we saw at Lighthouse and in their primary schools. particularly
through our mentoring support.
One important area of support we offer, is the ability to journey with young people
through the transition from primary to secondary school. This is often a time where
much of their existing support structure changes, but can a sense of continuity and
stability by being a familiar face, when almost everything else is changing.
We were asked to work with St. Michael's School with some of their lessons, specifically
their 'Retreat Days,. These are days where a Year Group are 'off-timetable', and have
lessons that help them to reflect on their own personal growth and development. We
have led on identity, skills, and County Lines. It has been great to see young people
exploring these topics in a fun and exciting ways, using Bible verses to aid their reflection.
Detached Youth Work has been another area of growth. We have been out on Monday
afternoons for over a year and have connected with young people, and prayed with them
for exam stress, sickness and friendship difficulties. It is such a privilege to be able to
listen to young people, offer advice and invite God to help them in their situations.
One highlight this year, was in a Grow & Show mentoring session. One child was very
open and honest about arguments with their friends. I mentioned how sometimes it can
be helpful to consider if our friendship is more important than our arguments. They took
this on board, and shared the following week how they had put this into practice and
stopped arguing with their friends. At the end of the Grow & Show course, I had
opportunity to review each child's progress with the schools, Pastoral Lead,. they too had
noticed that for this child, there had been no further friendships disagreementsl
In all our work, we are thankful for all that God does through us and in the lives of those
we work with. He takes the small things we give and blesses them abundantly, so they
go further than we can imagine. May he continue to guide us, give us wisdom, and bless
all those who we meet this year too.

Children's & Youth
Worker
2022 saw many wonderful opportunities. one of the greatest highlights for me has been
in the growth in our Encounter Youth Worship Events, seeing the growth in the depth of
engagement. It was a privilege to witness young people willing and eager to step up
and serve at the events.
In July, we had 7 young people from across three churches in the worship bandl They
met a couple of hours prior to the event to practise together, and what a joy it was to
hear united praise they madel In September, one young person shared their testimony
of the journey God had brought them on, from first having that thought that they might
like to give speaking a go, to the moment they asked to do so! It was a joy then to hear
them sharing, and encouraging those around them to take that step of faith into all God
was calling them to,. being obedient to that invitation to step out the boat. It has been a
joy too, to see young people gathering from across churches and schools, and growing
together. One young person 'l'm really grateful for this opportunity to meet with other
Christians my age and discuss my faith and how that comes into my wider life, I really
hope this continues and that it can help strengthen my faith.,
Another joy has been the opportunity to commence mentoring support with a new
secondary school. Whilst this door opened through the sadness of bereavement, and
students needing support following this, it was an honour to be invited to stand alongside
the school community in a difficult period. Our support in the school has widened and it
has been a privilege to journey alongside young people, supporting them with a range
of challenges, emotions. and experiences. We have become an important part of the
schools, pastoral support for those young people needing extra support.
Alongside these recent developments, it has of course been a delight to continue with
work that has been established over many years, including assemblies. One Headteacher
commented, 'Thank you for agreeing to the [assembly datesj. the children love having
you herell
Our after-school clubs have continued to run in two local primary schools
too. We welcomed back a previous Zone Club member as a young leader in September,
who said, '1 came back to help because when I was here, l enjoyed myself and had fun so
I came back to help others have fun,. We continue to be blessed with a wonderful and
dedicated team of volunteers who support us with our after-school clubs, who give so
freely of their time and energy. We appreciate each one of them and could not do it
without theml
Another wonderful year filled with opportunities to stand alongside and journey with
children and young people, sharing a message of hope.

Lisa Dollery: Schools & Outreach Worker
This past year has been an exciting year of growth, with the
establishing of 3 new ministries in a new area. It has been wonderful
to see God move and open many doors to enable this to happen in
Princes Risborough.
We are now leading mentoring in the
Secondary School, Detached Youth Work and have a weekly
Youth Drop-ln. It has been so encouraging to see these ministries flourish and the
wonderful relationships we are building with the young people in Princes Risborough.
In the Secondary School, we mentored 7 students every week and it is a privilege to
support them. We also built connections with staff and they have shown appreciation
for this,. one member of staff said, 'We really value the support you give to our students,
and we can see the difference it is making,.
Most Thursday's we were out with Detached Youth Work, and it was incredible to see
how God gave us many opportunities to get to know young people and pray for them.
One young person said, '/ love coming out of school and seeing you, it's the best part of
my week,. We also saw answers to prayer,. one young person said, 'Thankyou forpraying,
the situation has completely changed,.
Last September we opened our Youth Drop-ln. We currently have 10 young people
connected, and are building good relationships. One young person said, 'I've never felt
like I fitted in, but since coming here I really feel like I belong,. Each week there is a time
to discuss faith, including God's character and love, and the young people are beginning
to open up. One said, 'I've been thinking more about God since coming here, can you
get me a Bible please?, Another said, '1 feel really safe here and there's always a helpful
adult I can talk to,. What wonderful answers to prayer as we had been praying that the
Drop-ln would be a welcoming, supportive, and safe place for young people.
We have built good relationships
with local churches in Risborough.
This is seen through the wonderful
team of volunteers who support our
ministries,
and
our
Church
Representatives, who are doing a
fantasticjob of keeping us up to date
with what is happening and sharing
about our
ministry with their
congregations.
It has been a very exciting year and
the Bible verse that keeps going
through my mind is from Ephesians
3'.20, 'Now to Him who is able to do
immeasurably more than all we could
ask or imagine, according to His
power that is at work within us,.
can truly say this year I have seen
God this, and believe He will continue
to do so.

Future Goals & Developments
Goals for 2023
l. Continue with, and develop, our Schools and Community Ministries.
2. Support and equip children and young people in their exploration of, and faith in,
Jesus Christ.
3. Support Churches in Schools, Children's & Youth Ministries.
4. Facilitate children and young people connecting with the Church.
5. Continue to increase our supporter base and our income.
This coming year, there will be a number of core elements within our work that will remain.
Within our Schools Ministry, our challenge is managing the growth, especially as we have a
number of'new, schools approaching us for support.
We are continuing to develop our direct work with young people. The Detached Youth
Work in Wycombe and Risborough, Youth Drop-ln and Encounter Worship are all
wonderful opportunities to develop relationships, and seek to enable young people to
explore faith.
Our relationships with Churches and Supporters continue to be at the forefront and we will
be delighted to grow our Church Representatives Team and take opportunities to speak at
church services and events throughout the year. Together, this will enable us to build
strong relationships and effective two-way communication.
We are continuing to step out in faith and follow God's leading, which we have received in
times of prayer, as especially our season on prayer in January and February. God is calling
us to 'extend our tent. and we are actively working towards this goal, taking new
opportunities as they present and by Kam Salah joining the Team (January 2023) to help
us meet the growing opportunities and needs.
We will be continuing to pray for, and reflect on, our ministry growth., reviewing the
opportunities that God is bring to us, and the resources we need in order to make this
happen. We want to ensure that we grow with God's wisdom and discernment, so that it
is resourced and sustained. and that we will see fruit and faith grow amongst children and
young people.

Kam Salah: Schools & Outreach Worker
It was an amazing time to join Wycombe Youth for Christ in
January 2023, because it was the week before 4 Weeks of Prayer
began. It has been a privilege to meet and pray with the friends
of Wycombe YFC, and see how many people (in addition to the
Team) have such a deep passion for children and young people.
Praying with everyone was truly heart-warming and a huge encouragement for me.
have learnt how prayer underpins all the inspirational projects WYFC are growing,
developing, and delivering. This reliance on God for His direction is awesomel
Joining Darren for Grow and Show mentoring has been a great experience. Watching
the children's friendships with their mentoring partner grow as they have worked
through the different activities together has been a privilege. How the children have
developed and built up their emotional resilience through the Bible-based activities has
been astounding. They have acknowledged not only their own accomplishments, but
others too,. their self-awareness and capacity to praise others has shone brightly. The
children's successes, seen in the green leaves hanging on their wooden trees, is a visible
positive reminder to the children on the days they may doubt themselves, just how
strong and amazing they arel
Working alongside Rebecca has shown me how mature some of the children are, as they
have stunned us on during lunch club activities and assemblies with their insightfulness
of 8ible stories. When I led a club session, the children really understood the topic of
forgiveness. They were fully engaged in the assembly about the story of Zacchaeus;
they waited patiently to share their own stories and participated in the assembly with
great gusto. We have witnessed regularly how children are open to learn Bible stories.
Joining Lisa with the Detached Youth Work in Princes Risborough, and serving the young
people with a hot chocolate and a biscuit, has been great- even the afternoons that have
been very cold and wet! All the young people we have served have been polite and
grateful for the snack and drink. Being present on the street at the same time, on the
same day, has shown the young people some form of consistency in the ever-changing
modern world they are growing up in. Being there every week has provided us the
opportunity to connect, chat and pray with the young people. Prayers have been
answered, and curious questions as to why we pray have been asked tool
Recently, I have walked the
streets near where we may
be launching a new project.
It has been amazing to
walk these roads and tune
into what God is saying
about this land. Watch this
space as Wycombe YFC
continues to follow God's
direction for His young
people, and join us in
prayer for their salvation.

Financial Review 2022
The accounts for 2022 are shown on pages 11-14 in this report. Notes on page 14 provide
additional information relating to various aspects of the accounts. The Trustees
continued to follow God's leading in agreeing with Erica the vision for Wycombe YFC
and closely monitored the outcomes as the year progressed.
At the end of 2022, the income exceeded planned expenditure by £5,897, which was not
expected. When setting the budget, the Trustees fully expected that a significant
proportion of the funds carried forward from 2021 would have been used by December
2021. However, staffing changes and a delay in making new appointments has resulted
in expenditure being less than expected. As a result, the funds carried forward to 2023
have increased.
Pages 11-12 contain a simplified statement showing income and expenditure over the
years 2018 to 2022, with budgeted figures for 2023. These pages reflect the development
of Wycombe YFC'S financial position over time.
You will see from the 2023 budget figures that our planned expenditure is considerably
higher. This is directly linked to employment expenses as the team has expanded to
meet what we believe is Gods calling. Erica and her team will have already shared
aspects of their work, and it is clear there are considerable needs in our community that
only Jesus can meet.
During 2023, our known income compared to our planned expenditure, will significantly
reduce our financial assets. We have again made provision for'special Donations, in the
budget of £2,000 per month. The trustees will continue to monitor and review the
budget as the year progresses.
The national economic climate remains challenging for all of us. We recognise again and
thank you, our supporters, for your commitment - both financially and as volunteers, to
this work of God amongst our young people.
I have been reminded over the last few months of the rebuilding of the second Temple
in the words of Haggai. It's a really good read. Chapter l is challenging, as it relates to
bringing the necessary resources to rebuild. The work of Wycombe YFC does not need
a complete rebuildl But neither is it finished in terms of fulfilling its current calling. It will
continue to need additional resources.
Haggai 2:4,8-9 says, 'Be strong, allyou people of the land,, declares the Lord, 'and work.
For l am with you,, declares the LordAlmighty'... "The silver is mine and the gold is mine,,
declares the LordAlmighty. 'The glory of this present house Lvill be greater than the glory
of the former house,, says the LordAlmighty. 'And in this place I willgrant peace,, declares
the Lord Almighty"
