Who We Are & How We Operate
Wycombe Youth for Christ is a charity established in accordance with a constitution
adopted on 13th May 1997.
Charitable Objectives
a) To promote the Christian faith and to proclaim the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ
throughout the world and in particular (but without prejudice to the generality of the
foregoing) in High Wycombe (Buckinghamshire) and its environs.
b) To promote and encourage the Christian evangelisation of young people throughout
the world and in particular (but without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing) in
High Wycombe (Buckinghamshire) and its environs.
c) To promote and encourage positive Christian living.
d)To relieve poverty and sickness thereby demonstrating the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Organisational details
The charity works with children and young people aged between 5-18 years old. There
is a Director, paid Staff and a dedicated team of volunteers.
Governance
The Trustees meet on a regular basis with the Director to manage the work of the charity,
with other meetings held on an ad hoc basis.
The Trustees are appointed on 3-year terms by members at the Annual General Meeting.
Trustees must agree with the doctrinal statement issued by the national umbrella
organisation, British Youth for Christ. The usual process followed in appointing Trustees
is for the existing Trustees to approach a person whom they believe would bring to the
trustee body useful skills and attributes. The Trustees will either co-opt them until they
can be appointed by members at a General Meeting or propose them for appointment
at a General Meeting.
There is no formal training for Trustees, other than giving them access to previous
meeting minutes and policy documentation. As Trustees are prominent members of the
local Christian community and have an established interest in Children's and Youth Work,
they will be aware of the work undertaken by Wycombe Youth for Christ.
The Trustees believe that in order for the trustee body to operate effectively there should
be no more than 6 Trustees. Currently there are 5 Trustees, and we seeking I more.
Public Interest
The Trustees confirm that they have had due regard to the guidance issued by the
Charity Commission in respect of public benefit. They consider that the achievements
for the past year clearly demonstrate that WYFC have fulfilled the requirement for
providing a benefit to the public.
Reserves Policy
The Trustees have felt the appropriate level of reserves to be at least 3 months, regular
expenditure, which is currently in the region of £24,000. Our free reserves at the year-
end were £54,934 (unrestricted funds),. totalling £76,234 (with restricted funds).

Director's Report by Erica Holt
The last year has seen us emerging slowly from the
pandemic, trying to learn and understand how we live and
thrive again. The landscape is not yet firm, and we have had
to show flexibility and adaptability to the ongoing changes.
It has been at times been challenging,. however, we have been
delighted by the freedom to be creative and flexible to what
we do and how we do iti
The core and foundation of our ministry has not changed,. we still stand on the rock that
is Jesus, and seek to share His love and Good News to children and young people. What
has changed, is our increasing faith and eagerness to be willing to do new things. and to
do existing things differently. It is a refreshing and exciting place to be.
In light of all of this, 2021 saw a number of changes. Having had the invaluable support
of Nicky and Gemma with us since the beginning of the pandemic, both decided their
time with us was at an end. But we held firm to the faith we had in God, that He was
calling us to grow., and in response to this, we increased the Team's capacity by creating
two new full-time posts, for which Lisa and Caleb joined the Team. Alongside this,
Rebecca's role changed and she joined us full-time too. This enabled us to stretch our
support into new places- including 8ourne End, Wooburn Green and Princes Risborough.
We increased our community-based ministry,. firstly, with the creation of Detached Youth
Work in Wycombe (which quickly developed, as we started a similar ministry in Princes
Risborough). This was followed quickly by our new youth worship event - Encounter
which was successfully up and running before the end of the year.
With the releasing of social distancing, we were able to connect with supporters and
churches again. We had opportunities to speak at Sunday services, to join community
prayer groups, and connect with the Churches Together team in Princes Risborough.
Throughout the year, we continued to dream big dreams with God, to look to Him for
where He has called us to be. We have a number of projects in the pipeline for the future,.
but for now, l echo the words from Ephesians 3:20 that God continues to be
able to
do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work
within us
(NIV) and all the glory and praise are His alone.

Darren Phillips: Schools & Outreach Worker
This past year has been an interesting year, as we continued to
deal with the aftermath and effects of lockdown and the
pandemic.
But, as always, God has been faithful and the
opportunities to spread His work and His word to the young
people of Wycombe have continued to grow.
One of the most exciting things that has happened over the past year, has been the
emergence of Detached Youth Work. It is something we felt God put on our heart, as a
way to tackle the rise in mental health difficulties among young people as a result of the
pandemic. We saw Detached Youth Work as a way to connect with more young people,
especially those who are vulnerable and to be able to pray with them, inviting God to
help them with their struggles and anxieties.
Since May, we have had a team out on Mondays in the centre of Wycombe, wearing
bright Hi-vis jackets, and engaging young people in an activity or a cup of hot chocolate.
alongside offering a friendly chat, a listening ear and opportunity to receive prayer.
Although we had a slow start, we are now seeing regular young people chatting with us
and many opportunities to pray with young people on the street.
One week, as one of the young people headed home, he ran to us in floods of tears,
saying that another young person had pushed him over and was 'after him,. We helped
him to calm down and checked he was OK. then we accompanied him home (which
wasn't far away). We also got to pray for him, and later invite him to a local youth group.
Another highlight of this year, is seeing groups of young people engaging in the Life
Mentoring Course, which was created at the end of 2019, just before lockdown. This
year, we have been able to have launch this mentoring programme, allowing young
people to explore and develop skills to help them 'thrive in life,. The content explores
topics such as identity, relationships and mental health.

which of the sessions they would like to
focus on" they chose Mental Health, which
impressed me, as we know that men can
find it hard to talk on this subject.

talking about mental health problems and
how we can support each other. They
shared stories of family members and
friends struggles, and one young man
talked about how church has helped many
people in this area.
This shows how
effective the course is for young people,
and the importance of being deliberate in
talking about difficult subjects.

forward to what God will be doing through
in our ministry in the future.

Rebecca Hawes: Children's & Youth Worker
The year began with many restrictions in place, and much of our
work needed to take place online. The Zone @ Home continued
into its fourth series, being made available in printed copy for
those registered, and online for anyone and everyone, until such
a time as clubs were able to commence in person again.
As wonderful as it was to be able to produce these resources and deliver them to families,
it was a real joy to have both clubs fully back up running from September 2021.
It was wonderful to get back to face-to-face assemblies at King's Wood School in the
Spring Term. initially leading year group 'bubble' assemblies. These were repeated four
time5 over, in order that all years could engagel There was a real buzz in the hall when
we were all able to be together for one assembly in the Autumn terml
Another highlight was getting back to in-person transition lessons for Year 6 pupils as
they prepare for their move to secondary school. It was a joy to partner with Christ
Church Flackwell Heath in delivering these lessons to their two local schools. As always,
it's a privilege to support students in their transition from primary to secondary school,
and it was a delight to be invited in to a new secondary school in order to facilitate this
ongoing support.
In December, we started our Encounter Worship events; a monthly worship event for
young people, by young people. Young people are involved in many aspects of the
events - from bringing a message and sharing testimonies, to being part of the worship
band and operating the PA.
After 5 years working part time for Wycombe YFC, in October 2021 1 became full-time,
which has been a joy and privilege being able to spend time further developing existing
work, and begin new projects.
Through it all, relationships have been key. relationships with children and young people,
relationships with parents,. relationships with schools and relationships with churches. So
many of these opportunities have come about and been such a blessing and privilege to
be involved with, due to the relationships that Wycombe Youth for Christ has built over
the years. Praise be to God for the favour He has and continues to grant us.

Llsa Dollery: Schools & Outreach Worker
l joined this amazing team in September 2021 and it has been
wonderful how God has knitted me into the team and the work
within Schools and Detached Youth Work. I started by mentoring in
2 Secondary Schools in Wycombe, and have been mentoring 16
students a week. What a joy and privilege it has been to get to know
them and see God at work in their lives. I have witnessed many
answers to prayer in these students lives and God has given me so many wonderful
opportunities to offer prayer, share a Bible verse or story and give personal testimony as
to who God is and how much He loves them. I have also been part of running a lunchtime
Club and part of running a Christian Union.
I have a few highlights from my mentoring sessions. After talking with a student about
God's character and how much He loves us they said 'That's amazing... I have really been
thinking a lot about God recently and I've never done that before,. In another session I
was able to share the Gospel with two students and this has led to them asking more
questions about Christianity. I was able to share an encouraging Bible verse with another
student and to see an immediate change in their thinking and a peace settle over them
was wonderful.
An exciting new venture has been moving into a new areal I was asked to lead the
Detached Youth Work in Princes Risborough and we have been going out onto the street
every week building relationships with the students as we hand out hot chocolate and
walk around the town and chat to them. I have also been building some really good
relationships within the local Churches. We are looking to the future and the possibility
of working in the local secondary school and starting a Youth Club and we have a venue,
and we plan to start the Club in July 2022. We are so excited as this will give us such
fantastic opportunities to build deeper relationships with the young people and our
prayers are to see them engaging with God and connecting into a local Church for on-
going discipleship.
A verse that God has put on my heart a lot since starting with Wycombe YFC is, 'Now to
Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His
power that is at work within us, (Ephesians 3.'20). God has been proving time and time
again that this is true, and l am excited to see the amazing things He will do in the futurell
It is such a joy and privilege to be part of what He is doing through Wycombe Youth For
Christ in the lives of children and young people.

Future Goals & Developments
Goals for 2022
l. Continue with, and develop, our Schools Work.
2. Support and equip children and young people in their exploration of, and faith in,
Jesus Christ.
3. Support Churches in their Schools, Children's & Youth Ministries.
4. Facilitate children and young people connecting with the Church.
5. Continue to increase our supporter base and our income.
This coming year, there will be a number of core elements within our work that will remain.
Within our Schools Ministry, our challenge is managing the growth, especially as we have a
number of 'new' schools approaching us for support.
We are continuing to develop our direct work with young people. The Detached Youth
Work, Encounter Worship and our latest project - Engage. This project enables young
people to join us for 'work experience,, so that they can grow in their skills, giftings and
faith.
Our relationships with Churches and Supporters continue to be at the forefront and we will
be delighted to grow our Church Representatives Team and take opportunities to speak at
church services and events throughout the year. Together, this will enable us to build
strong relationships and effective two-way communication.
We are seeking to be conscious in how we can enable young people to grow in their faith,
skills and giftings. We are actively creating a path-way of activities and events, that enable
young people to have increasing opportunities to explore faith and build relationships with
one another, as well as with Wycombe YFC and local churches. This is why our relationships
with churches, and effective communication, is so important to us and our vision.
As we look to the future, we will be constantly reviewing the opportunities that God is bring
to us, and the resources we need in order to make this happen.

Financial Review 2021
The accounts for 2021 are shown on pages 9-12. On page 12, there are notes to explain
various aspects of the accounts. As previously, Trustees set a budget in faith. following
the clear direction we prayerfully considered God was giving us. To fulfil this vision, we
needed additional financial resources. For 2021 this sum amounted to £1.500 per month.
Despite the continuing challenges caused by Covid-19, God clearly moved in the hearts
of our supporters and we were able to meet the requirements of the budget in full.
The accounts for 2021 show a surplus of £22,369 in the General Fund. This was offset in
part by a shortfall of £16,103 in Restricted Funds. As reported last year, this shortfall is
in line with expected increasing demands for mentoring. This resulted in a net surplus at
year end of £6,266.
Pages 9-10 contain a simplified statement showing income and expenditure for the years
2017 to 2021, with our budgeted numbers for 2022. There are two graphs, one for income
and the other for expenditure, reflecting the development of Wycombe Youth for Christ's
financial position over time.
You will note that from the Financial Summary for 2022 that our planned expenditure is
considerably higher. There have been many God-given words from a number of trusted
sources that have encouraged us to'enlarge our borders, and, as Erica will have shared,
there are growing opportunities and demand for Wycombe YFC to be involved in the
wider area. In time we fully believe that income will increase as God works on the hearts
and minds of an increasing group of supporters.
During 2022, our known income compared to our expenditure will significantly reduce
our financial assets. We have therefore, again, made provision for 'Special Donations, in
the budget at a rate of £2,000 per month. The Trustees will continue to monitor the
budget and will be reviewing it in line with our vision as the year progresses.
We were really blessed during the year when Kingfisher House was transferred to
Wycombe YFC. We now hold the property in Trust, as it continues to be historically
owned by the Dashwood Estate. However, this transfer provides Wycombe YFC with a
very secure rent-free base.
Clearly this will be a challenging year for us all, particularly with the current economic
climate. We recognise the total commitment that you, our supporters, have in ensuring
God's work can continue amongst the young people of High Wycombe and the
surrounding areas. He has never let us down and we can continue to be confident in His
provision.

3. This is made up of donations received. including from grants allocated to general funds (£24,700)
and gift from Kingfisher House Trustees (£8,984).
4. Tax Reclaim is the Gift Aid received during the year on general fund donations. Gift Aid is claimed in
the month following that in which the donations were received.
5. This income is comprised of gifts received from Lighthouses.
6. Donations received to support the Afghanistan Refugee Project.
7. This is the cost of salaries, employers National Insurance contributions and employers pension
contributions for Erica Holt, Darren Phillips, Rebecca Hawes, Gemma Gibbins, Nicola Cousin, Lisa
Dollery and Caleb Fulton.
8. 2 insurances are payable. A buildings policy and a combined lines policy (which also includes cover
for Public and Employee Liability and Trustee indemnity).
9. Wycombe YFC were gifted the building and are now holding the premises in trust.. the property has
been valued at £200,000 for insurance purposes.
10. Executive approved expenses cover one-off items which are not budgeted and therefore require
specific approval by the Trustees.
11. These funds are held in a Barclays current account.
12. This is the total of Tax and National Insurance for December 2020, which was due and paid in
January 2021.
