Report of the Trustees EAST BARNET COMMUNITY FESTIVAL
The Trustees of the EAST BARNET COMMUNITY FESTIVAL present their annual report and accounts for the Year Ended 31 December 2024
EAST BARNET COMMUNITY FESTIVAL was established to provide or assist in the provision of facilities for creation of other leisure time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the people of East Barnet.
The charity held its annual East Barnet Festival at Oak Hill Park on the 5[th] to 7[th] July 2024. It was North London's largest free summer festival, featuring around funfair, stalls,street food, music and other performers, classic cars and very good attendances on all days of the festival
The Trustees confirm that they have acted within their powers as set out in the Charity's Constitution. These accounts have been put together in accordance with the relevant accounting guidelines.
It is a requirement of the Charity Commissioners that, as the total income for the year exceeded £25,000, the trustees must file a satisfactory report prepared by an independent examiner.
This report is a review but not an audit, of the accounting records held by the charity and the accounts prepared from them. The examiner must be independent of the charity, not a trustee, and preferably a member of a listed* accountancy body. This last point is not essential providing they have an understanding of accounting principles and practice
Mr Christian Costi has volunteered to stand as Independent Examiner. He has had no involvement with the charity till now and is not a trustee. He is a chartered fellow of the Institute of Actuaries and so is well qualified to act as an examiner.
The trustees were very pleased to accept his offer, and his appointment as independent Examiner was confirmed at the AGM on 8th April 2026
Independent Examiner’s Report is attached
.These accounts were approved by the Trustees at the AGM on 8[th] April 2026

I NDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT to the trustees of East Barnet Community Festival (EBF)
Registered Charity number
1063654
I report on the accounts of the Trust for the year ended 31 December 2024, which are set out on page 3.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year (under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act)) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
-
examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act;
-
to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions (see page 2) given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act; and
-
to state whether particular matters have come to my attention
statement
My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair view' and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
-
(1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements
-
to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act; and
-
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act
have not been met;
or
- (2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
