Council held a Transport

Day at their Bedwas offices on| |Sunday 18September

historic
transport
links
as
it

Two vehicles
attended
from| |the
CTPG collection
including
the
last| |double
deck bus acquired
by Bedwas

allowed
the public to view| |parts of the collection,
not only
in Barry| |but also around
other parts ofSouth East| |Wales and beyond.| |The
collection
illustrates
many
of the| |developments
that have occurred
to bus| |design
over
the
years
and
also

in the structure

largely
by

in policy. The archive collection| |also shows
how technology
has

of
preserving

collection
of buses

Wales

in March
with
the
arrival
from| ||||||Cardiff
Bus
of Scania
Bendy-bus
619| ||||||(CN06 GDY). This vehicle
ran
in service| ||||||up
until
the
final
day
of
Bendy-bus| ||||||operation
in Cardiff
on 29 January.
As| ||||||well as representing
an important
part of| ||||||the history ofthe development
of buses it| ||||||also adds
another
low floor accessible| ||||||bus
to
the
collection
which
enables| ||||||people
with
mobility
difficulties
to| ||||||participate
in the free bus rides on offer| ||||||at events.| ||||||The Bus Depot at Barry is where
many of| ||||||the restored
vehicles
are displayed
and| ||||||can be viewed
by the public.
It is also| ||||||where
much
of the
restoration
takes| ||||||place thereby
giving visitors an insight to| ||||||the work that goes on to restore buses.| ||||||Some of the progress
