||||||other items of transport<br>interest<br>and this|
||||||was supplemented<br>by items for sale from|
||||||other<br>organisations.<br>A free shuttle<br>bus|
||||||service<br>was<br>provided<br>between<br>Barry|
||||||Island and The Depot also from a nearby|
||||||car park to The Depot. An open top bus|
||||||service also operated<br>a circular tour of|
||||||Barry which<br>was a particular<br>attraction|
||||||for younger visitors.|
||||||One<br>vehicle<br>on<br>loan<br>to<br>the<br>Charity|
||||||attended<br>a rally at Brislington<br>in Bristol|
||||||on 31July 2023.|
||||||11 August<br>2023, CTPG assisted<br>with the|
||||||Barry 10k event<br>by transporting<br>runners|
||||||before and after the race.|





|On Saturday<br>27 August<br>2023, major bus|

|operator<br>Stagecoach<br>held a public<br>open|
|day<br>at<br>their<br>branch<br>new<br>depot<br>in|
|Cwmbran.<br>Amongst the historic buses on|
|display<br>were three<br>owned<br>or on loan to|
|CTPG.|
|Two former<br>Cardiff<br>Buses attended<br>an|
|event<br>organised<br>by Cardiff<br>Bus for its|
|current staff and their families<br>on Sunday|
|26 August<br>2022 giving<br>a chance for their|
|longer<br>serving<br>staff the chance<br>to see|
|buses they may have driven<br>in the past or<br>for newer staff, some oftheir history.|
|2022<br>was<br>the<br>120'"<br>anniversary<br>of|
|municipal<br>transport<br>operation<br>in Cardiff|
|and<br>this<br>was<br>marked<br>by<br>an<br>event|
|organised<br>by Cardiff Bus at their depot in|
|Sloper Road<br>in Cardiff on 24 September|
|2022. This event was supported<br>by the<br>attendance<br>of nine former<br>Cardiff Buses|
|owned<br>by CTPG, or in one case<br>by<br>a<br>group ofCTPG members.|
|CTPG had also planned<br>a Running<br>Day at|
|Barry<br>marking<br>the<br>Cardiff<br>120~|
|Anniversary<br>on<br>Sunday<br>11 September|
|2022 but this was cancelled as a mark of|
|respect<br>following<br>the<br>passing<br>of<br>Her|
|Majesty Queen Elizabeth<br>II.|
|Bedwas,<br>Trethomas<br>and<br>Machen|
|Community<br>Council held a Transport<br>and|
|Industry<br>Day at their Bedwas offices on|
|Sunday 18September<br>2022. This location|
|had<br>historic<br>transport<br>links<br>as<br>it<br>had|
|previously<br>also housed the garage of the|
|former<br>Bedwas<br>8<br>Machen<br>UDC<br>bus|
|operation.<br>Two vehicles<br>attended<br>from|
|the<br>CTPG collection<br>including<br>the<br>last|
|double<br>deck bus acquired<br>by Bedwas<br>&|
|Machen.|
|These events<br>allowed<br>the public to view|
|parts of the collection,<br>not only<br>in Barry|
|but also around<br>other parts ofSouth East|
|Wales and beyond.|
|The<br>collection<br>illustrates<br>many<br>of the|
|developments<br>that have occurred<br>to bus|
|design<br>over<br>the<br>years<br>and<br>also<br>the|
|changes<br>in the structure<br>of the industry|
|brought<br>about<br>largely<br>by<br>political|
|changes<br>in policy. The archive collection|
|also shows<br>how technology<br>has<br>moved|
|forward<br>in things<br>such as ticketing<br>and|
|ticket machines<br>for example.|
|Much ofthis history would be lost|
|without the work ofCTPG.|

|objectives|set||||boasted<br>in March<br>with<br>the<br>arrival<br>from|
||||||Cardiff<br>Bus<br>of Scania<br>Bendy-bus<br>619|
||||||(CN06 GDY). This vehicle<br>ran<br>in service|
||||||up<br>until<br>the<br>final<br>day<br>of<br>Bendy-bus|
||||||operation<br>in Cardiff<br>on 29 January.<br>As|
||||||well as representing<br>an important<br>part of|
||||||the history ofthe development<br>of buses it|
||||||also adds<br>another<br>low floor accessible|
||||||bus<br>to<br>the<br>collection<br>which<br>enables|
||||||people<br>with<br>mobility<br>difficulties<br>to|
||||||participate<br>in the free bus rides on offer|
||||||at events.|
||||||The Bus Depot at Barry is where<br>many of|
||||||the restored<br>vehicles<br>are displayed<br>and|
||||||can be viewed<br>by the public.<br>It is also|
||||||where<br>much<br>of the<br>restoration<br>takes|
||||||place thereby<br>giving visitors an insight to|
||||||the work that goes on to restore buses.|
||||||Some of the progress<br>made during<br>2022|
||||||has included<br>the repaint of City ofCardiff|
||||||AEC Swift single decker 512(MBO 512F),|
||||||the completion<br>of Cardiff Bus Dennis Dart|
||||||023 (N23 OBO) and<br>the replacement<br>of|
||||||most<br>of the<br>external<br>body<br>panels<br>in|
||||||readiness<br>for painting<br>into Merthyr<br>Tydfil|
||||||B.C. colours<br>of Bristol RES 190 ( NHB<br>190M)whilst the long term restoration<br>of|
||||||Pontypridd<br>wartime<br>Bristol<br>K 40 (FNY|
||||||933), Aberdare<br>Guy<br>Arab<br>LUF 14 (XNY|
||||||416) and<br>Red<br>& White<br>Bristol<br>Lodekka|
||||||L.358<br>(TAX<br>235)<br>all<br>saw<br>significant|
||||||progress.|
||||||As<br>not<br>all<br>of the<br>collection<br>can<br>be|
||||||accommodated<br>within<br>The Bus Depot at|
||||||Barry, the inove from<br>Barry Dock to the|
||||||replacement<br>secondary<br>storage<br>site at|
||||||Llandow was completed<br>early in the year|
||||||ensuring<br>that<br>those<br>vehicles<br>not|
||||||displayed<br>at Barry could continue<br>to be|
||||||protected.<br>The vehicles<br>at Llandow<br>are|
||||||exchanged<br>with those at Barry from time|
||||||to time in order to va<br>those on display.|
||||||Following<br>the<br>exceptional<br>year<br>in 2021|
||||||when a number<br>of large donations<br>were|
|Performance<br>offundraising<br>activities against objectives||||Para 1.41|received<br>following<br>a<br>appeal<br>to<br>the<br>membership<br>to help<br>fund the relocation|
