durlng the year
In November 2018, Crawley Green & Wenlock Pre-school were
inspected by Ofsted and awarded an overall grade of Outstanding which
the whole team and management committee are extremely proud of.
Within our setting, all children are supported in developing their potential
at their own pace. Our key person system enables us lo ensure activities
are planned, tailored to the needs of each individual child. By m8ans of
developing appropriate play activities and a high level of individual adult
Input, we offer a planning system which leads to nationally approved
learning outcomes and prepares children to progress with confidence to
the National Curriculum at the age of five year8.

In both small and large groups, children are encouraged to
extend their vocabulary and fluency by talking and listening, and by
hearing and responding to Stories, 80ngs and rhymes. Children are
helped to understand that written symbols Garry meaning, to be aware of
the purposes of writing and, when they are ready, to use drawn and
written symbols for thernselves, A well-stocked book corner give8 every
child the opportunity and encouragement to become familiar with book8,
able to handle them and be aware of their uses, both for reference and
as a source of stories and pictures.

Within a nurturing environment, children are individually
supported in developing confidence, autonomy and self-respect. They
are encouraged to work and concentrate independently and also to take
part in the life of the setting, sharing and co-operating with the other
children and adults. Through activities, conversation and practical
example, they learn acceptable ways to express their own feeling8 and
have respect for the feelings of others. All children are given the
opportunity, as appropriate, to take responsibility for themselves and also
for our setting, its members and its property
Maths
By mean8 of adult-supported practical experlence,
children become familiar with the sorting, matching, ordering, sequencing
and counting activities which form the ba818 for early mathematics. AS
they use their developing mathematical understanding to solve practical
problems, children are assisted to learn and use the vocabulary of
mathematics, identifying objects by shape, position, Size, volume and
number. Songs, games and picture books help children become aware of
number sequencing and, when they are ready, to use simple
mathematical operations such as adding,

A safe and stimulating environment allows children to
explore and experiment with a range of natural and manufactured
materials. They learn to observe the features of objects and substances,
recognizing differences, patterns and similarilies, and io share and record
their findings. Children are assisted in exploring and understanding their
environment, both within our setting and also in the wider community. A
range of safe and well maintained equipment enables children to exlend
their technological understanding, using simple tools and techniques a8
appropriate to achieve their intentions and to solve problems.

As a charity, our main income is from fees and nursery education
funding. We aim to hold 3 main fundraising events throughout the year
plus some smaller events such as non-uniform days to support
investment in new equipment etc. We are signed up to the easy
fundraising website and encourage all of our families to sign up to. We
also have a wish list on Amazon, meaning families can donate resources
directly to the setting.
We plan to spend some monies in the upcoming year replenishing the
toys and equipment for the children as well as completing works on the
flooring in the main playroom with an estimated cost of around £10,000 in
total.
The nursery education funding was paid in to the preschool account a
few days earlier than normal, therefore the profit for the year looks higher
than normal. This will balance out in the next financial year.
