YEAR OVERVIEW
TINY TREASURES BABY AND TODDLER GROUP - Linda Bettaney
Tiny Treasures started in September 2019, staffed by Linda, Shirley, Gwyn, Veronica and Jayne. Held on a Thursday it offers a safe and caring environment for babies and toddlers to play, accompanied by parents, grandparents, child minders and foster carers. Each adult is charged £1 irrespective of how many children they bring. Mid-morning the children will receive toast, fresh fruit and a drink. The adults also can have tea, coffee and toast.
Unfortunately, due to Covid 19, lockdown happened. There were 31 babies and toddler on the books. During lockdown Linda and Jessica cleaned and disinfected every toy; and Gwyn, who is in charge of craft, used the time to prepare craft projects in readiness for reopening.
On 18 November 2021 Tiny Treasures reopened with 22 on the first day back.
Linda, Shirley Gwyn, Laura and Victoria cleaned all the toys prior to the reopening. Jayne and Veronica were unable to return but the team was joined by Victoria and Ria. Laura does an excellent job with online advertising
There are currently 40 children registered, with an average of 20 attending weekly.
As well as play and craft activities, Roland comes in with his guitar and for 15 minutes “the wheels on the bus go round and round” accompanied by percussion instruments, but this time also includes Christian songs and Roland makes Christianity fun for the children. The families that come are comfortable and relaxed during the time in Tiny Treasurers and Linda and the team want them to experience the love of Jesus personally and would love to see them becoming part of Wellspring family.
They are looking to purchase some new plastic chairs to replace the old wooden classroom chairs.
6
ENERGISE – Miriam Jones
Energise is held at 6 pm on a Friday and is for children from reception up to year 6. It’s a fun time which includes games, story time, taken from two brilliant books, 50 crazy Bible stories and 50 weirdest Bible stories, singing led by Shane or Mark. The children are divided up into three teams represented by a colour. Wendy kindly made some cushions for the teams. Points are awarded for the best singer, the best behaved and for bringing somebody new. The points are displayed on a wipe board, kept up to date by Jessica and there are prizes for the winning team.
Helpers include Sam, Jessica, Shane, Laura, Mark, Linda, Emma, who keeps the register and Victoria who keeps a watchful eye on the door. The evening finishes with prayer.
Due to a generous donation, they were able to purchase the costume of AJ the Lion, who is currently having his foot repaired. With permission from the Headmaster of Emmanuel school we gave out invitations to Energise outside the school and initially 10 children came. Six have remained with one attending consistently. There are 45 children on the register with 25 attending regularly every Friday. They are hoping to visit more schools in the future.
A lady whose children come to Energise is now coming to church and said how much she’d missed it during lockdown.
7
SORTED AND YOUTH – Joanne and Stephen Roberts
Sorted restarted in September from 7.30 pm to 9 pm on a Friday after a break of eighteen months to two years due to Covid 19. Numbers attending have been between 30 and 35 and these are in the main non-church young people. Some house rules have been established and the evening includes God’s word and worship starting at 7.45 pm.
Those who are not interested sometimes leave but there are some who may appear to be hard faced, but are settling down and starting to connect. Hopefully a group will be able to go to Rock Nations again this year.
8
SUNDAY SCHOOL – Miriam Jones
Sunday School takes place immediately after the time of Worship and is shared between Jo, Linda and Miriam. They are using some excellent teaching materials for children and are currently looking at the life of Moses. They work it on a 2 weeks on, 4 weeks off Rota.
9
WORSHIP – Mark Jones
Mark expressed how blessed we are in Wellspring to have so many gifted musicians, singers and those who can man the sound desk.
Mark asked that we pray for Luke to be released from having to work on a Sunday so that he can be part of the worship team and also that other younger musicians will emerge.
There’s nothing more wonderful than a house of praise, filled with joy with all inhibitions broken off.
10
CONNECT GROUPS
Jayne and Norma – The group - Alan and Ria, Cynthia and Brian, Norma, Lesley, Jean Hiles, Sue, George and Jayne meet 2pm on a Tuesday for a time ofof fellowship, sharing, getting to know each other and to pray for each other.
Roland and Shirley –The group - Ray and Gwyn, Bob and Sue, Wendy, sometimes Paul or his Mum Vivien, Carys, Chris Lynch, George and Jayne – 7 pm on a Wednesday via Zoom. There’s a time of worship lead by Roland and various members of the group take turns sharing from the Bible.
Jo and Steve - A Youth Connect Group takes place at Jo and Steve’s house on a Thursday evening with some young people from other churches attending as well as youth from Wellspring and are relating well as a group.
11
KING’S STOREHOUSE – Tracey Williams
There are 17 people in the team and jobs include dating the tins and making up parcels. Tracey receives referrals which come from 28 different agencies. 587 parcels that have been given out and the total number of individuals that have been helped is 1032 (619 adults and 413 children).
There are donation boxes in Sainsbury’s, Morrison’s, Co-op Bodelwyddan, One Stop Coast Road and Santander, Rhyl Town.
Jeanette and Alan, Chris Lynch and Peter Watson collect the donations. There have also been donations from Fairshare since 21 February.
Andy oversees the warehouse with a team of volunteers.
Financially, the foodbank is operating at a surplus. Food donations alone from various sources including Fairshare provide some of the food for distribution and we spend on milk, sugar, butter and bread on regular occasions to maintain stock levels.
Any excess stock of any particular items are gathered and donated to other food banks or charities that help to alleviate food poverty.

BUILDING UPDATE
We thank God for the building He provided for our church family, it is an incredible facility with so much potential. Due to lockdown and prudence with finances some work has been postponed. Having said that, a lot of work has still been completed internally, here is a summary of work completed in 2020 and some things that still need to be done.
EXTERNAL
We have received cladding from Kingspan as a donation. This has been installed by a builder for a cost of £4,000.
The soffits and fascias have also been painted to anthracite grey to protect and to modernise at a cost of approx £1,000 for the paint and hire of a cherry picker for safety.
4 new double glazed windows have been installed in the main hall as the previous windows were damaged and 1 installed incorrectly which was a security issue.
WORK TO DO:
-
Galvanised gate for the front side of the building.
-
Painting of the iron fence.
INTERNAL
Work has started on the back hall which has included removing the false ceiling. These renovations will include:
-
Heating
-
New electrics, lighting and mains
-
Replastering and repairs
-
Painting
-
New carpet
This will be an estimated £15,000. This work is well on the way and is almost complete. The room will be used as a mutli-purpose room.

CHAIR’S REPORT – Mark Jones
Thank you to the many dedicated, faithful workers Wellspring has been blessed with. An example of this is Andy, Church members wouldn’t be aware that at 8am every Sunday morning Andy Williams clears the carpark of any rubbish that has gathered over the weekend.
2021 started with another lockdown and restrictions in place. The church has gathered as often as was safely allowed through the year and finished the year with another unfortunate lockdown at Christmas. We are thankful that the church has come through the whole time and is seeing a healthy number of people gathering as we come out of restrictions.
Following the Fun Day held before lockdown, two families started to bring their children to Tiny Treasurers and Energise. It was encouraging to see them coming to the Sunday morning Christmas presentation that had to be cancelled in December due to Covid. Their grandmother and one of the mums expressed an interest in finding out more through an Alpha Course which is due to start at 9.30am on Tuesday 1[st] March, and between 5-6 people have expressed an interest. Chris and Dave Atkinson will be involved in the Alpha Course.
With regard to the church building, £15,000 worth of cladding has been donated free of charge. This came about through a random conversation with one of the dads at a Saturday morning football match.
Mark’s desire for Wellspring is that it will have a community heart with a missional beat and a generational pulse. The church exists not just for the present, but for future generations. It’s vital to enlarge and to see people stepping up and equipped to become leaders.
