Phillipstown Residents and Community Association

Trustee’s Annual Report – 31st March 2021

The 2020/2021 financial year for Phillipstown Residents Association saw virtually no activity due to the Global Pandemic. Our Community House was closed as we adhered to lockdown legislation, and providing our usual activities and services became impossible. Hence as our accounts reflect the only financial activity was the Welsh Government Covid 19 Grants we claimed and any bills that were required to be paid. The Covid 19 Grants certainly were a lifeline, and without this funding it would have been difficult to keep the Association running.

We are also grateful to BCT for the support that they provided to keep the Association intact.

As the lockdown came suddenly at the end of March 2020, it resulted in us having to throw out the stock that became out of date and also meant that we had to throw out unused food supplies when we returned in the summer of 2020.

The Residents Committee did continue to hold regular meetings virtually, to ensure that the Association survived the pandemic and as an organisation we felt that we needed to meet, so that we could plan our exit from the pandemic and ensure that all bills were paid and that the organisation remained sustainable.

The Association also produced and delivered Community Newsletters to emphasise the Government guidelines and to ensure that residents and businesses were aware of the various support initiatives that were available.

As the financial year ended, we were seeing a gradual roadmap back to normality albeit with safeguards and restrictions in place.

The Charity and our community faced have been through a very difficult period, similar to the rest of the UK and the wider world.
