One-to-one support alongside workshops will continue to be on offer with support from suitably skilled and experienced staff. Deaf Ethnic Women can receive tailored individual support for any issues by participation; this will enable women to plan to take positive steps in their lives and be signposted and linked to a wider support network. was delivered with 80 attendees. The morning session engaged BME parents and their deaf children through the_This Is Us D.E.A.F._project, alongside an art activity for deaf children. The afternoon session featured a youth-focused panel discussion and live performances, promoting empowerment, inclusion, and participation. Trust of London/Women Urgent Support Fund Drop In 2025 189 attendees Weekly Drop-in Service: general support with advice; clarify information, translation, explain using British Sign Language, benefits, fill in forms. Every case is being followed up. Contact with social workers and with other deaf organisations is regularly made. Data in 2025: 336 women attended our workshops 189 women attended our General / Financial Drop-in sessions Rose Rise Fund Some policies have been updated and reviewed with board of trustees Sportworks A deaf coach delivered sports and self- protection sessions for deaf ethnic women. A total of 75 women attended the workshops, |
which focused on improving fitness, confidence, and personal safety. Brent Health Workshops A total of 21 health workshops were delivered to 120 women from the Brent borough. Participants gained a clearer understanding of key health topics, including menopause, symptoms to look out for, and wellbeing through yoga sessions held at the Brahma Kumaris Centre. The workshops also educated women about their rights under the Equality Act 2010, empowering them to request appropriate and accessible local health services. Disability Justice At the start of the project, we commissioned a website designer to rebrand and refresh our website. The designer withdrew before completing the work; a refund was received, and a new designer was appointed. A full project brief was provided, and a proof version of the website was approved. The website is now in the final stages of development and is in the process of going live. We have also been given login access, allowing us to edit content and update information internally. NDCS This Is Us D.E.A.F Project DEWA have contacted nearly 40 parents of deaf children, with a target of 80 participants. To date, 27 parents have completed the questionnaire. The English version is complete, and BSL video clips for all 70 questions are being produced to improve accessibility. Outreach is ongoing through events, WhatsApp messages, and social media to increase engagement. Additional support is being provided for parents who require interpreters, particularly for Urdu and Arabic speakers, with interpreter availability being coordinated. We are also setting up discussion groups for mothers, starting with Arabic-speaking parents in Luton and Birmingham via Zoom. Mainstream schools with specialist resource bases will be contacted to widen participation, including in new regions. Work is continuing with partner organisations to improve access to online resources. Project activity remains on track, with continued efforts to increase parental participation.
