The year had many challerw with many twh difficu￿ deCiS￿n$ m* durirwJ the covid and pandemic
pericd.
A big thank you to the team, volunteers a￿1 for strw f￿s, Outsta￿ling leadership during these challengiThJ
tirnes. It was a great t&im effort and ccffltribution from everyone ttrklt enabled AUKM to deal with the challenges of
working through the FAlSt pandemK FerKxl.
Post lockdown brought many challenges these Ind￿ the re-esiabltshment of services, getting dients out of their
hcmes, given th&n the cOnfide￿e to atternl servKts and setting up ne￿ Se￿￿$.
Post the pandemic the￿ was a *ry strong team spnL C￿la￿rat￿)n a￿1 teamworkiThJ to Y￿k through the
chalbiges and to succeed arKI rrt)t to let (b)wn the eldth in local coffmunty.
The decision was taken to proc*J with the sale Mill Street 0f￿e. Tr sale was completad and AUKM rehxated to
Diary Court in OCto￿r 2021. Dkiry Court has enabled AUKM to bring the maj(￿ty of seThi￿ ur)der one ￿ntralise
hub at Diary CourL rationalise cc6ts and continue to ￿ntral￿Se Servi￿ as Y￿ move forward. The move to Dtary
Court has been a success and has teen Welc￿ by dients, stsff and volunteers.

In June 2021 v* als) estabii%hBJ a reL3tyJnship wth UK SeverKwks aryj Tonbridge, this included a
sharing of a CEO resource and with a continL*d enha￿ern￿t of services, we continue to review the arrangement
moving fo￿ard.
During 2021122 we continued to eV0￿e skills, capabilities aTrJ contributions of the tK)ard (* AUKM. The EM)ard
met on a regular basis throughout the year - the Th*eb"ngs were corKlucted ￿n%)tely.
Due to the continued fc(us of the CEO & team, decisive, dear and timely arttcms tsken by AUKM the charity dosed

The yw 2021-22 has been challengirKJ, due lo the imW of parKlemiG All social groups, day ￿ntre5 a￿1
dementia Servi￿ were susperThled; however, we adapted serrfKes to sUp[￿rt dients in their homes through the
setting up of meals-on.wheels servi￿, dementia outreach and Y￿fare calL4 a￿1 visits.
Throughout the pandemic we continued to operate a Ca￿ seNice in tre aw covered by maid5t0￿ Borough
Counol. The servke is delNer&J by a team of nurses on a full cost recovery basi5. The Servi￿ is available to
sidents of the t#)rough who a￿ not residiTrJ in trryitsl, are aged over 55 have be￿ assessed by ourselves
as requlring fwt care. This SeThI￿ OFwates ur#der strict rnedKal and Covkd gumlelines and has been a resounding
sUC￿s. Our service enabfes the dients to maintain their ind￿nden￿ and redu￿ the r6ks of falls and
subsequent injuries.
Our Communty bathing serike has c￿tin￿l ftr those reshjents of the Bomugh of Manlstone aged over 55, with
a mobility problem or hamng dIff￿￿ty getting in ar*J out of the bath. The seNice has been adapted to meet the
new legislabon set out by C
The indepeThJent living supwrt servKe Contin￿ to develcy. The servitr is de5KJn8J to ass￿ older people to
remain indeFendent in tr￿1r own home5. COVKI meant that we had to adapt the Servi￿ to meet their needs. We
Carr￿ out a considerable amount of shopping calls. prescriptK)n pKk-ups and Welfa￿ calls. and continued to
provide SUPFQrt with day-ttrday tssks, suth as c￿aning, lauThlry1 W changing. shoppir*J, gardening, and
tefriending. We also provided a tske home and setue ser¥￿e from MaIdsto￿ t¥)spital on L*ha￿ of Age UK East
Sussex and the West Kent Clinical Commissioning group.

Governing document
Age UK Maidstone is a Chartsble company limited by guarartee which was I￿or￿M)rated on 2 April 1997 as
Age Concem Maid5tone. The Charity is registered with the Charity Cc¥nmi55ion and govemed by its Memorandum
and Articles of A$s￿latIon and the Constitution. Dire£tors and Trustees receive no rernUr￿ation for their work on
belN4lf of the charity.
On 29th Febnjary 2012 the tharity thanged its name to Age UK Maidsth as a company limited by guarantee as
the successor to Age Conctrn Maidstone. The members p￿sent at the charitEs Annual General meeting on 6th
October 2011 had voted in favour of the narne change on the rrfommenthtton of the Directors.
Our Trustees have traditthally been recruited by wtrd of moLrth, Fersonal recommendatmjn and via the bxal
Volunteer Bureau. We have been fortunate that the mix of exk*rtise has teen suffic*nt to enable the Trustees
to make lnfcwn￿ decisions. All new TnJstee5 a￿ given an inductsn pack whith irKludes a copy of 'The
Essential TNsfft' publish￿ ty the Charity CiJnmissK)n. Tlw a￿ also assrgned an extsting Trustee as their

Commission. We applied for ISO 9001 on ￿ 7th Feb￿￿ry 2014 and were registered on the 20th February 2014
for the pn)vision of soaal Op￿rtUnitieS and outreach seThices to older p&We. We are inspetted annually on our
c(Knpliance with our ISO 9001.2015 stsrKlard. We were inspwted in Novemter 2017 and are reregistered for
another three years subject to annual revie•VS.
As a brand partr￿ of Age UK V￿ received sUp￿¥t frorn the natKJnal charity through the brand partner payments
as a grant, fatt sheets, re5p)n*s to Govemment initiatNes and sUp￿rt for c3mpaignirvJ on issues that
affect older [*.

Away Day to review our stratsgic obiectsves going forward. As part of the day, we review￿ our Mission
Statement. With continuing con￿rnS over the amnt of cash reserves we V￿re h)Iding the Tru5tee5 continued
their on-going review of the prices chargad to clients and our reserves Folicy. Our Truste￿ having review&1 our
cash reseNes and have set a minimum target for £50,¢￿ in unrestricted cash ￿Se￿ for the end of the financial
year 2020121. They also asked the Chief Executive to provkle b4KW mcKlels that induded M funding from Kent
County Counal for the Board to consider before setting the budget for 2021122
