STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT

Structure, governance and management

The constitution was last updated on the 2nd October 2012. Trustees are appointed or reappointed annually at the Annual General Meeting held in the first half of the first term of the new academic year.

Membership of The Friends of Henry Maynard School (FoHMS) shall consist of all parents and/or guardians of pupils, past and present attending or who have attended the school and all members of the school’s staff. The trustees oversee the running of FoHMS and seek the views of members in deciding activities to run. Information is gathered and shared through WhatsApp groups, newsletters, social media sites and through the FoHMS website. There is a Privacy and Data Protection Policy in place.

FoHMS has carried out fundraising activities, sometimes in partnership with local businesses and charitable organisations, as well as other Local Authority schools. All trustees and volunteers give their time voluntarily and receive no remuneration or other benefits for doing this.

ACTIVITIES

In planning our activities for the year, we were conscious of the impact the Financial Crisis is having on our school families.

Our main activities during the year have been as follows:

We are eternally grateful for the many hours volunteers spend in supporting our fundraising activities. Without this valuable contribution of time, energy and expertise we would not be able to achieve what we do.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE

ACHIEVEMENTS

In-person activities started to become possible this year but with constraints and the need to work differently.

Through events and the online donation page on the website, we have been able to raise during 2022/23 £59,418 which, along with funds raised in earlier years, has allowed FoHMS to provide the school with £36,775 to complete the School Playground Project & £42,804 towards future planned projects. Income from recurring monthly donations (set up through the website on our donations page) continues to raise money. With this, and additional donations through the page, FoHMS has received £12,584 (£13,366 in 21/22) and a further £2,200 (£5,054 in 21/22) in General donations.

The Winter Market raised £7,501 (£5,502 in 21/22). Many thanks to the team for their hard work in making it so successful. The Summer Fayre also did well & raised the sum of 9,575 (£8,426 in 21/22). FoHMS’ gained a further £516 (£388 in 21/22) from Amazon Core.

The school community continued to support the most vulnerable children in our school, via the school leadership team, by providing £900 in Christmas food vouchers for those seriously in need from FoHMS funds.

LOOKING AHEAD

The donations page on the website is still raising funds and the School leaders would like FoHMS to develop this further to assist in the provision of facilities for education at the school. The school Governors will be communicating to the school community about the importance of regular donations which aids school’s ability to provide enriching educational activities for the children.

The Co Chairs for 22/23 will look to improve engagement of the parents and carers of children in Reception, years 1 and 2.

Central Estates have for many years supported us in helping us to raise funds for the school, so we wish to pass on our great appreciation for all the support they give us and hope they will be able to continue sponsoring us.
