## STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT

## Structure, governance and management

The constitution was last updated on the 2nd October 2012. Trustees are appointed or reappointed annually at the Annual General Meeting held in the first half of the first term of the new academic year.

Membership of The Friends of Henry Maynard School (FoHMS) shall consist of all parents and/or guardians of pupils, past and present attending or who have attended the school and all members of the school’s staff. The trustees oversee the running of FoHMS and seek the views of members in deciding activities to run. Information is gathered and shared through WhatsApp groups, newsletters, social media sites and through the FoHMS website. There is a Privacy and Data Protection Policy in place.

FoHMS has carried out fundraising activities, sometimes in partnership with local businesses and charitable organisations, as well as other Local Authority schools. All trustees and volunteers give their time voluntarily and receive no remuneration or other benefits for doing this.

## OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

## Objectives and activities

## OBJECTIVES

The aim of the association is to advance the education of the pupils in the school. In furtherance of this object FoHMS may:

- Develop more extended relationships between the staff and parents and others associated with the school

- Engage in activities which support the school and advance the education of the pupils attending them

- Provide and assist in the provision of facilities for education at the school (not normally provided by the Local Education Authority (LEA))

## ACTIVITIES

In planning our activities for the year, we were conscious of the disastrous effects the pandemic has had on our children’s development, the pressures upon the school to provide quality remote learning, and the changes needed to plan & deliver face-to-face in-person events.

Our activities have started to resume with the main activities being as follows:

- Winter Bazaar

- Summer Fayre

- Food Parcel and food bank campaign

We are eternally grateful for the many hours volunteers spend in supporting our fundraising activities. Without this valuable contribution of time, energy and expertise we would not be able to achieve what we do.

## ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE

## Achievements and performance

## ACHIEVEMENTS

In-person activities started to become possible this year but with constraints and the need to work differently.

Through the online donation page on the website has been able to raise an £18k which has allowed FoHMS to provide the school with £8,650 to spend on the Eco School Project & Laptops. A further £13,800 has been given towards the School Playground Project. Income from recurring monthly donations (set up through Donorbox on our donations page) continues to raise money. With this, and additional donations through the page, FoHMS has received £13,700 and a further £4,300 in General donations.

The Winter Bazaar has been able to resume & has raised £5,502. Many thanks to the team for their hard work in making it so successful. The Summer Fayre also did well & raised the sum of £8,426. FoHMS’ gained a further £388 from Amazon Core, which continues to generate quarterly income.

The school community continued to support the most vulnerable children in our school, via the school leadership team, by providing Christmas food vouchers for those seriously in need from FoHMS funds.

## LOOKING AHEAD

The donations page on the website is proving successful and the School leaders would like FoHMS to develop this further to assist in the provision of facilities for education at the school. The school Governors will be communicating to the school community about the importance of regular donations which aids school’s ability to provide enriching educational activities for the children.

The Chair, Laura Tulloch, will be standing down at the end of this school year. The new Chair/Chairs will be able to take FoHMS events forward for 2022/23. One priority will be to improve engagement of the parents and carers of children in Reception, years 1 and 2.

Central Estates have for many years supported us in helping to raise funds for the school, so we wish to pass on our great appreciation for all the support they give us and hope they are able to continue to do this.
