## **Trustees Annual Report**

The Darlington Rotary Club is part of an international network and is a member of Rotary International, a USA based organisation. The mission statement of Rotary is a ‘commitment to service, fellowship, diversity, integrity and leadership. Darlington Rotary raises funds and makes donations that help achieve these objectives.

During the year ended 30th June, 2022, its members, together with Rotary Foundation, raised £35730. The main income producing activities were all community and membership based and included £5628 from the AM-AM golf in July, 2021; £2068 from an Italian dinner evening; £3124 from Xmas tree collection; £2600 from the Darlington Fun Run; £2113 from ‘Bargain Bags’; £1403 from ‘Choirs for Ukraine’; £5649 from members bike ride sponsorship; £3820 from a Rotary auction and £2500 from members weekly draw.

The Charities total expenditure was £39111 and included £37762 in grants to a wide variety of principally local organisations, although due to a countrywide appeal £2000 was donated towards Ukrainian refugee support. The other major beneficiaries were: Darlington Children’s Playground £10755; St Teresa’s Hospice £4000; Listening Post £4367; TeleEEG £2400 and the Sixth Form College £2000.

Although total expenditure exceeded income by £3381, this was because the funds for the children’s playground had been raised in the previous financial year. As at 30th June, 2022, the Charity had £28767 in reserves, represented by £23551 in Barclays Bank account and £5216 deposited with the local Credit Union.

At the year end the reserves were allocated as follows: Restricted (donations already approved) £5937; Allocated (earmarked for future donations) £10000; and Unrestricted £12830. Accordingly, the Charity has sufficient funds to meet its objectives for the coming twelve months.
