BECKTON ISLAMIC ASSOCIATION FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2024 STATEMENTS OF RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE Law applicable to charities in England & Wales require the Committee to prepare financial statements for each financial year that give a true and fair view of the charity's financial activities during the year of its financial position at the end of the year. In preparing those financial statements, the Committee is required to.. A) Select suitable accounting policies and apply them ¢onsistently', B) Make judgments and eslimates that are reasonable and prudent- C) Slate whether applicable accounting standards and statements of recommended practice have been followed, subje¢t to any departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements.. DI Prepare the financial statements on a going concern basis unless it is inappropriate lo presume that the charity will continue in operation. The Executive Committee is responsible for keeping accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy al any time the financial position of the charity and enable them lo ensure that the financial slalements comply with the Charities Act 1993. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities. INDEPENDENT EXAMINER According lo the provisions of the Charities Act 1993. the Committee has agreed that and audit is not reqLiired for this Iinancial year. However due to Pi oiiisions of the same act an independent examiner is required. Transaction and finéqiicial position The Statement of Financial Activities shows a surplus for the year of £240,367,. Gain on disposal of £128,608., and our accumulated funds sland at £900,242 in total. AM Accountancy Services carried out an independent examination of the accounts included in the report. This report, which has been prepared in accordance with the Statement of Recommendod Practice (SORPI Accounting and Reporting by Charities issued in 2005.
