Name of Charity: The Friends of Broome Park, Registration Number 1062128
Broome Park Nursing Home, Station Road, BETCHWORTH, Surrey RH3 7DF
The structure of our charity consists of six committee members which includes two trustees (Mary Rode) and Joyce Sanderson). Both trustees were appointed by the committee.
Our aim is to provide the residents with additional activities such as group and individual music therapy. We also provide extra items for celebration events - I.e. pumpkins, Christmas wreaths and Easter eggs for all the residents. We also organise a Bonfire Night celebration with the local community. The patio outside the Main House has flower troughs and hanging baskets purchased by us to provide a lovely, colourful and relaxing environment.
This financial year our spending was hampered due to Covid. Many events great and small could not be held due to restrictions. We continued to supply the residents with items named above. Our income normally comes from our Annual Summer Fete which was held in June. We also operate a 100 club. Many donations are received following funerals of our residents. This year Barclays Bank paid us £400 compensation for failure to communicate with the charity on a number of issues. We received a very generous legacy on September 1[st] , 2021 for £34,323.33 which was a great boost to our funds. To thank the staff in the Nursing Home for their hard work during Covid, we purchased vouchers for all of them at Christmas in addition to plates of fruit and sweets. We were able to maintain Our Sensory Garden, constructed in 2014 by one of our volunteers. It is a special place for the residents. It has a water feature and piped music for visitors and their loved ones to sit out there and relax.
We continue to work with the Nursing Home and the community. Hopefully restrictions will be completely lifted so we can continue to enhance the residents’ experiences.
