Nottingham, NG15GL Governance and management The charity is operated under the rules of its constitution adopted 29 September 1996. The members of the Committee are elected at the Annual General Meeting and normally hold office for a term of two years until the end of the Annual General Meeting the second following year. Day to day project activity is carried out by volunteers and paid staff. Objectives and activities The principal object of the charity is to promote the benefits of the inhabitants and primarily the Chinese inhabitants or persons living in the County of Nottinghamshire by associating together the said inhabitants, the local authorities and voluntary and other organisations in a common effort to. (i) advance the education of the said inhabitants, (li) relieve the poverty and sickness of the inhabitants and (iii) provide facilities for recreation or other leisure time occupation for the said inhabitants in the interests of social welfare with the object of improving their conditions of life.

Tai Chi exercise club; Day trips,. Quarterly newsletter., Elderly home visits. Cultural celebrations.. Dragon boat festival, sharing rice dumpling, Mid-Autumn festival, Christmas meal and Chinese New Year. Support for elderly and infirm. By providing a social environment that improves the lives of Nottinghamshire's Chinese elderly by reducing loneliness and depression. By providing support for daily living, which includes ensuring our elderly have safe and healthy housing and ensuring they get a healthy meal. Public benefit statement The Trustees confirm that they have complied with the duty in section 17 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the Charity Commission's general guidance on public benefit, 'Charities and Public Benefit,. Summary of the main achievements during the period This year we have provided the following.. Translation service., The office is open for enquiries on Tuesdays and occasionally on Friday. Elderly lunch club; Tai Chi Exercise Club & Heathy Sit Down Exercise; Occasionally healthy talks from NHS. English Class; Day trips; Quarterly newsletter. Elderly home visits., Cultural celebrations: Easter Celebration. Dragon boat festival, sharing ri dumpling, Mid-Autumn festival, Christmas meal and Chinese New Year etc,. Support for Chinese elderly and infirm. The Cost of Living project was funded by Awards for All, starting from 1 May to 2024 to the end of April 2026. We provide for our long term members and also received new elderly from Hong Kong who hold British National Oversea status. We have worked with Thriving Nottingham to provide Healthy Check (MOT) and Health & Wellbeing Community Champions to provide healthy sit down exercise. We also provide Tuesday Lunch club, Tai Chi and English classes.
Nottinghamshire Chinese Welfare Association We have kept supporting our members regarding to their individual needs. We sourced rice dumpling to celebrate Dragon Boat Festival in May 2024. We organised: 50 people for a day trip to Birmingham in May 2024 49 people for a day trip to LeicesterlLuton in July 2024 49 people for a day trip to Skegness in August 2024 53 people for a day trip to Leeds in February 2025. We celebrated our AGM with our members and guests at Mr Man's Chinese restaurant in September 2024. We Celebrated Christmas at May Sum restaurant in December 2024. We celebrated Chinese New Year at Mandarin Chinese restaurant in January 2025. We have been working with NCVS to attend Tendering and Woman in Charge trainings at Trent University. We have been working with University Research workshops at Nottingham Central Library. We are working with Anchor Hanover Housing Association to deliver translation and interpreting to the Chinese who are living in sheltered housing accommodation. Financial review We have sight of resourses to cover the next 18 Months at our current levels of expenditure with limited office facilities. We continue to work on funding opportunities. We need to continue to look for sources of income to maintain income levels. The charity's policy on reserves Our policy is to hold 2-3 months, reserves in order to ensure the smooth running of the organisation on a day to day basis. Independent examiner's report to the trustees of Nottinghamshire Chinese Welfare Association for the year ended 31 March 2025 I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of Nottinghamshire Chinese Welfare Association (the charity) for the year ended 31 March 2025. Responsibilities and basis of report As the trustees of the charity you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act,). I report in respect of my examination of the charity's accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. Independent examiner's statement I have completed my examination. I confirm that no matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect: accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or 2. the accounts do not accord with those records. I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
