This also led to Ihe development of a 15 month project to co-create a communily m05aic for our garden celebrating nature. community and creativity the finished artwork will be inslalled in the summer of 2025. CaVCA Consultancy has also seen us supporting a range of organisation5 in areas such a5 asset transfer. funding strategy. business planning. successior) plonning. marketing and communications and so on. This work both enables the sustainobility of COVCA whilst 0150 SUPPOrting a Ihriving local and social sector on the Coast. We have continued to svpport the work of Ihe Scarborough Business Ambossadors and ils drive to raise ospirations and increase opportunitie5 locally. and we also represent the community on the Scarborough Fair Sleering Group and hold a place on the Scarborough Fvnd panel. We 0150 represenl CaVCA on the Seechange partnership which is a cross sector partnership exploiing health inequalities. We also attend the county wide VCSE Leaders Group to ensure we are up to date with new developmenls impacting upon our sector and its delivery. We are an active partner in the Yorkshire Policy Innovation Partnership IYPIP) which is an ocademic-led portnership working across Ihe whole of Yorkshire to explore innovation in policy making. We hove developed a new co-working spoce within the Street, Scarborough Works @ The Street. which provides comfortable friendly drop-in work space for those small businesses and sole traders who do not hove dedicated office space but feel they would benefit from working some, or all, of the time amongsl o woth communily. In the autumn of 2024 we began the process of remodelling The Street's entrance and receplion area to accommodote the new climbing wall. alongside a new branding and website redevelopment exercise. One of the findings of the branding exercise wos that our formed reception areo was nol viewed as a place 'to dwell, we wanted to change this. Once the reception area wa5 relocoted inlo the formed café areo we immediately felt a change in the building, we created soft sealing oreas to make people feel more 'at home, and these hove been replicated on Ihe ground floor of the building. Street Rocks, our newly expanded climbing centre opened in January 2025 with climbers Steve Mcclure and Franco Cookson joining us for the celebration5. We have continued to operate Green Lane Centre in Whitby and The Hungate Centre in Pickering, providing valvoble community assets accommodating local enterprises, community activities and support services for local people. Additionally, COVCA delivers seNices where we ore the best-placed orgonisation lo do so, and where there are no alternative providers available locolly. This has involved us in the following initiatives during the 2023-24 financial year: Slreet Action, funded by the National Lotlery Communily Fund. began lo deliver in June 2024 and hit the ground running with a project to brighten up Hope Streel. The project aims to help local people lo come together to take action on issues of importance lo them and their communilies. and 0150 to celebrate their collective action. Duiing the year we entered into a partnership with North Yorkshire Council lo provide migrant support across the County, with CaVCA being engaged to provide community developmenl support in the Scarborough area. Designed to support bolh economic migrants, ond refugees / asylum seekers, the project is due to commence in April 2025. A wide range of local residents benefit direclly from our setvices listed obove and client5 of many other local charities ond VCSE organisations benefil from the work Ihat we do in supporting and developing local groups. In compiling this report the Trustees have given due regard to public benefit guidance published by the Charity Commission. FINANCIAL REVIEW Financial results There was a satisfactory financial performance in year in line with the approved annual budget where we had oriticipated a deficit due to Ihe liming of funding. The balance sheet shows lotal funds of £2,974,945 made up of a General Fund lunrestrictedl ot £405,391 and Restricted Funds of £2,569,554. Page 6

GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT Organ15allonal structure The Charity is governed by a Board of Trustees, which is elected by the members, and who ore also directors of the Company. On becoming a Trustee. each Truste& is provided with an induclion cartted out under the direction of the Chair and Chief Executive. Training events and away days are orranged as and when required. Trustees appoint a Chief Executive Officer, who is also Company Secretary, to manage the operations of the Charily. The Board of Trustees normally meels bi-monthly and the Chief Executive Officer altends all Trustee meetings and has responsibilily for all slrotegic management decisions within policies agreed by the Board of Trustee5. Operotional decisions are delegaled to the Senior Managemenl Team under Ihe guidonce of the Chief Execulive Officer. Wider nelwork The members of the Charity ore local voluntary and community groups, charifies and social enterprises. The chority works c105ely with ils members and is in the process ol reviewing its membership offer to increase involvement and active engagement of our membership. COVCA 15 also o member of Locality. The Chief Execulive 15 also o Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of the Arts, Manufactures and Commerce IRSAI. Our Finance Manager is a member of Ihe Charity Finonce Group ICFGI. The address of the regislered office is given in Ihe charity information on page 8 of these linancial statements. The nature of the charitys operations and principal activitie5 ore advice, support, promotion and repre5enlation of Ihe voluntary. communily and social enterprise sector principally. but not exclusively, in the Borough of Scarborough and Ryedale and ils environs. The accounts are prepared in slerling which is the functional currency of the charity. Income All income is recognised in the Slolement of Finonciol Activities once the charity has enlitlement to the fund5, It is probable that the income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably. For grants to be recognised the charity will have been notified of the amounts and Ihe settlement date in writing. If there are conditions allached to the grant and this requires a level of performance before entitlement can be obtained then income is deferred until those condilion5 are fvlly met or the fulfilment of those conditions is Within the control of the charily ond it is probable that they will be fulfilled. Income from trading activities includes income earned from fundraising events to raise funds for the chority.
