MARKAZUL ULOOM LONDON REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES/MANAGING COMMITTEE FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30TH APRIL 2025
The Trustees and the Managing Committee present their Report for the year ended 30th April 2025.
Details of members appear on page 1 of the accompanying report. Management Committee members are elected or appointed on an annual basis. Background, Object and Organisation
Due to the growing demand of the local Muslim Community an Islamic Educational Institution was established and named Markazul Uloom London . This establishment was formed with the aim of teaching the local Muslim Community children Islamic values and morals.
The institution was initially based at Sheikh Nazim Mosque in Shalewell Lane, Dalston, London E8. However, due to increasing demand from Muslim parents for places for their children, it required the institution to move to 1 Sandringham Road, Dalston London E8 2LR on 1st May 1997.
Activities
Markazul Uloom offers activities and tuition for the Muslim Community with qualified and dedicated Muslim teachers. Activities such as;

Evening classes for the teaching of Arabic, Bangali and Urdu languages
-
Lessons for older and mature people in Qur’an and Islamic basics on Saturday and Sunday.

Qur’anic and Islamic lessons from 5pm-7pm in the evening.
-
Qur’anic and Islamic lessons for women with proper purdah implied.
-
Facilities for all daily prayers and Friday ‘Jumm’ah’ prayers.
-
In the month of Ramadhan, facilities for the Salatul Taraweeh jammat prayers with several competent Hafiz.

Facilities for working Muslim brothers in the community to perform Tarawih after midnight.

Weekly Islamic seminars/lectures are held.
-
Hifj section - this area is involved where a person is taught the art of reciting and memorising the Holy Qur’an by heart.

Islamic Conferences and Seminars are held three times a year, on special Islamic occasion, where well known Aleems are invited from around world to give lectures and all Muslim people are invited from all areas to attend.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINERS’ REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF MARKAZUL ULOOM LONDON
We report on the accounts of the Trust for the year ended 30th April 2025 which are set out on pages 5 to 7.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiners
As the charity’s trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts; you consider that the audit requirement of section 43(2) of the Charities Act 1993 (the Act) does not apply. It is our responsibility to state, on the basis of procedures specified in the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners under section 43 (7)(b) of the Act, whether particular matters have come to our attention.
Basis of independent examiners’ report
Our examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently we do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.
Independent examiners’ statement
In connection with our examination, no matter has come to our attention:

(1) which gives us reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements
-
to keep accounting records in accordance with section 41 of the Act; and
-
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and to comply with the accounting requirements of the Act.

- (2) to which, in our opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

a. Accounting convention
The accounts have been prepared using the historical cost convention.

Income represents voluntary donations received from members of the public.
