REPORT The Trustees present their annual report together with the financial statements of Dorset Gulde A55ociation for the year ended 30 September 2023 STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE & IIANAGEMENT a. CONSTITUTION The charity is a registered charity, number 1061378. b. METHOD OF APPOINTMENT OR ELECTION OF TRUSTEES Trustees are recrulted when required to fulfil the aims of the trust. The trustees may, at any time, appoint as a trustee any person wllling so to act. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE Girlguiding is the leading charfty for girls and young women in the UK. As an organisation Girlguiding helps to build glrLs' confidence and raises their aspirations. We give them the chance to discover their full potential and encourage them to be a powerful force for good. We give them a space to have fun. By 2020, through fun, friendship, challenge and adventure we will empower more girls to find their voice and be their best through high-quality, gfjrl-led programmes delivered by inspirational leaders. GOVERNING DOCUMENT AND CONSTITUTION The Dorset Gulde AssociatTon is a separately constituted branch of The Guide Association which is incorporated by Royal Charter. We have held trainlng opportunities for our leaders to contlnue to update their knowledge to enhance the many dlfferent activities the girls participate In. Opportunities for all leaders to engage with the updated Safe Space requirements were put in place. In setting our objectfves and planning our activities our Trustees have given careful consideratlon to the Charity Commission's public benefit guidance. STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT Dorset Guide Association is split into 13 Dlvisions, Blandford, Bournemouth North, Bournemouth South, Mld Dorset, North Dorset, North East Forest, North East Minster, Poole East, Poole West, Purbeck, South Dorset, Twynham and West Dorset. A Division Commissioner is appointed to each area for a period of five years and takes on the role of Trustee to the County as part of that appointment.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORhMNCE Our Mission is: through fun, friendship, challenge and adventure we empower girls to find their voice, inspiring them to discover the best In themselves and to make a POSltive difference in their community. We offer a valth of opportunities for girls, young women and adults on a regular basis. We have units all over t)orset offering weekly meetings, camping, indoor holidays, activity days, social evenings and international traveL. Recruitment remalns a hlgh priority within the adult voLunteer section to enable us to offer places to the girls on waiting Ilsts. We have also offered many adults only based workshops to learn new skills and enhance their experience as a volunteer. Attendance at county shows and local fayres has been malntained to help with promoting all that Girlguiding has to offer. A new administrator was appointed and based at the county office. The annual awards celebration events took place for both young and adult members. Water based opportunities, such as kayaking, canoeing and body boarding, for brownies, guides and rangers took place. Training for all adult volunteers contlnues ensuring all safe space and 1 St aid requirements are met, along with programme support. A weekend to encourage volunteers to either refresh their knowledge or learn about the Going Away with Guiding qualification took place and was well attended. A new post of commissioner support has been created to help both distrlct and division commissioners to fulfil their role. FINANCIAL REVIEW The reserves on 30 September 2023 amount to £395,243 TRUSTEES, DECLARATION The trustees declare that they have approved the trustee's report above.
Dorset Gulde Assoclatlon (A charltable company limlted by zuarante¢) INDEPENDENT EXAMINERS REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 3trh September 2023 RESPEcfivE RESPONSIBILITIES OF TRUSTEE AND EXAMINER The charity's trustees {who are also directors for the purposes of company lawl are responsible for the preparation of the financial statements. The chariws trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144121 of the Charities Act 2011 (the Charities Act) and that an independent examination is needed. Having satisfied oursefves that the company is not subject to audit under charity or company law and is eligible for independent examination, it is our responsibility to: examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Art, to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions 8iven by the Charity Commisslon lunder section 1451511bl of the Charities Act, and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention. BASIS OF INDEPENDENT EXAMINERS REPORT Our examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the atcounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosu5 in the accounts and seeking explanatlons from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required In an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fairf view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below. INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S STATEMErir In connection with my examination. no matter has come to my attention (other than that disclosed below ') l. which gives me reasonable Cause to believe that in, any material respect, the requirements- to keep accounting records in accordance wlth section 130 of the Charities Act: and to prepare actounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Charities Act have not been met; or 2. to which, in my opinion. attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
