The trustees present the annual report together with the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31 March 2023.

Objectives and activities
Objects and aims
The object of Alconbury Independent Baptist Church is:
(a) the advancement of the Christian faith in accordance with the doctrines the church
(b) the support of missions at home and abroad
The Charity was formed by a declaration of trust dated 5th November 1996.
In pursuit of these objects the trustees expend the charity's resourses on:
(a) Engaging ministers, speakers and paying their expenses. (Ministry).
(b) Paying for the organisation and hosting of events and projects that provide an opportunity for people to find Jesus. (Mission).
(c) Maintaining and hiring premises that provide a meeting place for members and visitors. (Upkeep of church premises)
(d) Necessary administration incurred in the running of the church. (Administration).
Going concern
The Church operates an unrestricted general fund which serves the objects as described above.
In addition and in line with Biblical principles and in agreement with the wishes of the church memebership the trustees grant at least 10% of the Church's income in each year to bodies with similar objectives. The bodies and individuals selected by the trustees are chosen mainly from needs known to the membership of the Church. (Donations to other causes).

Trustees are normally elected, by the church members, at the Annual General Meeting (AGM).

The leadership team has conducted its own review of its major risks to which the charity is exposed and systems have been established to mitigate those risks.

Statement of Trustees' Responsibilities
The trustees are responsible for preparing the trustees' report and the financial statements in accordance with the United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice) and applicable law and regulations.
The law applicable to charities requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of the incoming resources and application of resources of the charity for that period. In preparing these financial statements, the trustees are required to:

select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently;
-
observe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP;
-
make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent;
-
state whether applicable accounting standards have been followed, subject to any material departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements; and
-
prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in business.
The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records that disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011, the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008, and the provisions of the constitution. The trustees are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
The trustees are responsible for the maintenance and integrity of the corporate and financial information included on the charitable company's website. Legislation governing the preparation and dissemination of financial statements may differ from legislation in other jurisdictions.

Chartered Accountants' Report to the Trustees on the Preparation of the Unaudited Statutory Accounts of Alconbury Independent Baptist Church for the Year Ended 31 March 2023
In order to assist you to fulfil your duties under the Companies Act 2006, we have prepared for your approval the accounts of Alconbury Independent Baptist Church for the year ended 31 March 2023 as set out on pages 7 to 10 from the company's accounting records and from information and explanations you have given us.
As a practising member firm of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) we are subject to its ethical and other professional requirements which are detailed at http://www.icaew.com/en/ members/regulations-standards-and-guidance/.
This report is made solely to the board of directors of Alconbury Independent Baptist Church, as a body, in accordance with the terms of our engagement letter. Our work has been undertaken solely to prepare for your approval the financial statements of Alconbury Independent Baptist Church and state those matters that we have agreed to state to the board of directors of Alconbury Independent Baptist Church, as a body, in this report, in accordance with ICAEW Technical Release 07/16 AAF. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we do not accept or assume responsibility to anyone other than Alconbury Independent Baptist Church and its board of directors as a body for our work or for this report.
It is your duty to ensure that Alconbury Independent Baptist Church has kept adequate accounting records and to prepare statutory accounts that give a true and fair view of the assets, liabilities, financial position and of Alconbury Independent Baptist Church. You consider that Alconbury Independent Baptist Church is exempt from the statutory audit requirement for the year.
We have not been instructed to carry out an audit or a review of the accounts of Alconbury Independent Baptist Church. For this reason, we have not verified the accuracy or completeness of the accounting records or information and explanations you have given to us and we do not, therefore, express any opinion on the statutory accounts.

Independent Examiner's Report to the trustees of Alconbury Independent Baptist Church
I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of Alconbury Independent Baptist Church for the year ended 31 March 2023.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the charity trustees of Alconbury Independent Baptist Church you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).
I report in respect of my examination of the Alconbury Independent Baptist Church's accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
Independent examiner’s statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

accounting records were not kept in respect of Alconbury Independent Baptist Church as required by section 130 of the Act; or
-
the accounts do not accord with those records; or
-
the accounts do not comply with the accounting requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair view' which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
