**THE FRIENDS OF ALL SAINTS CHURCH, SHILLINGTON. TREASURER’S REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDING 31[ST ] DECEMBER 2024 AGM – 24[th] APRIL 2025** As set out in the FOAS Constitution the objective of the Association is to assist with _**the restoration**_ **,** _**improvement and maintenance of the Fabric of All Saints Church, Shillington.**_ The function of the committee is to raise funds to achieve this by: - Inviting members to contribute annual subscriptions. - Applying for and securing grants towards the cost of works. - Organising fundraising events. Breaking with tradition I am going start this year with expenditure. We are very pleased that this year we were able to spend a significant sum on the fabric of the Church which, as noted above, is our primary objective. Over the last 12 months we completed works to the value of **£43,591.** The breakdown of this sum as set out in the accounts. The major element of this expenditure being masonry works to the North Door which I think all agree has produced a magnificent result. The total project expenditure over the last 2 years is now **£57,269** ## Turning to income. Annual subscriptions received for the year amounted to **£3,837,** a reduction of **£299** on the previous year. As mentioned in last year’s report, the period end for claiming Gift Aid has been changed to align with our accounting period. The amount claimed and received in this period is **£3,535.** This amount has been enhanced by some **£1,075** as a consequence of Zoe Glenister very kindly making the donation made in memory of her husband Paul, subject to Gift Aid. Another big thank you to Zoe. As referred to in the Chairman’s report the recovery of funds through Gift Aid is substantial and we are very grateful for members or donators who are able to submit the necessary tax declarations. In addition to subscriptions The Crown Shillington have donated funds generated through various events held throughout 2024 to The Friends Of All Saints. The accounts show a sum of £1,990 however a further £1,110 has been received after our accounting year end bringing the total raised in 2024 to £3,100 as noted in the Chairman’s report. These funds will be set against the repair works to the Boundary Wall. Thanks to Vicki, Phillip and ‘The Crown Team’ for their support in 2024 and also into 2025 as noted in the Chairman’s report. We were awarded grants from Francis Cole Charitable Foundation and Beds & Herts Historic Churches Trust both in the amount of £5,000 towards the North Door Stonework as mentioned in last year’s report. These sums were paid upon completion of the work as shown in the accounts. Fundraising events continue to be a success and raised a total of **£8,515** . Sunday Teas in the Church, which continues to be a village favourite for weekly meetings, conversation, tea and cake, raised an incredible **£4,329** . Thank you to all the volunteers for their time and excellent baking. An old favourite ‘Skittles’ was held in the Village Hall in February and made **£884.** Shillingfest, now an annual event in the village calendar, made a profit of **£466** via a Raffle, Tin Pan Alley side stall and ‘The Human Fruit Machine’. The Fruit Machine was extremely successful and income received at Shillingfest has covered the construction cost of this new piece of equipment. It is hoped that ‘The Machine’ will be a good income generator at future events. We have continued to support Beds and Herts Historic Churches Trusts Bike n’ Hike, however this year saw a very small income not yet received and thus not reflected in the accounts. It is hoped that 2025 will see a better financial result for this event. October 18[th] & 19[th] saw the return of ‘Joy To The World’. This was the 5[th] Production of the ‘JTTW Franchise.’ and again 2 evenings of entertainment including Music, Choral Pieces & Poetry readings was a success raising **£2,836** . Thank you to our sponsors, a huge list of musicians, singers, volunteers and Joy Robertson for her organisation, enthusiasm, time and vision. From The Statement Of Accounts, there is a Cash Balance of **£28,842.** This has been accrued for works to complete Boundary Wall Repairs, Repairs to the Bell Ringers Window and monies for roof inspection and towards any consequent works. As with all Church structures the roof is a constant point of focus for maintenance. The roof of All Saints Shillington is no exception and now has to be subject of substantial inspections coupled with potential repairs. Any sums currently held will only make a very small contribution to the potential inspection and remedial costs, thus there will be an increased need to secure substantial grants and other funding. The Chairman’s report makes reference to procedures and requirements of the Charity Commission. As part of their requirements, we must submit an _**‘Independent examiners report on our accounts,’**_ I would therefore like to give a big thank you to David Howarth who carries out the necessary audit for us to ensure we remain compliant. I would like to thank Andy for picking up the gauntlet of Chairman and leading the committee in a very positive, professional, and friendly manner.
