New fundraising event ideas are always welcome.
RAKSHA TRUST
Joseph and his Trust continues to enjoy our complete confidence. Time after time we see and hear evidence of him veering and hauling between programmes according to need and being cautious about over commitment and what can really be afforded. A tremendous juggling act and very difficult at times. His meticulous adherence to Government Rules also played a large part in the successful renewal of the Raksha Foreign Currency License in 24/25.
ANNUAL REPORT 2023/24
This is my second annual report as Interim Chair and I want to thank the Pappa Fund Team for all their support and hard work over this year.
Without the help of my wife Sarah, Sally Downs, Anne Colbourne, Janet Harrison and their steadfast partners Tony, David and Jeremy, none of this would have been possible.

FUNDRAISING
Education programmes are on our Facebook Group which is public for all to browse. We have also added more detail in All Around Marshfield village magazine and the Summer and Winter Newsletters. So I won’t repeat these here.
Fundraising continues to be mainly a blend of Events and Standing Orders with both being boosted by the Epic India Cycle Ride for which we owe Janet and Jeremy a huge vote of thanks. A great idea, very well executed and enjoyed by all.
Also many thanks to Eddie Sedgemore for his Fundraising effort on the marathon cross country Mighty Hike, funds being shared jointly with Macmillan Cancer Support.
THANKS TO ANNE
Anne is stepping down as Treasurer after eight years and has done an excellent job for us, not least in dealing with the peculiarities of banking with the Co-Op but also smoothing the teething troubles associated with transferring funds to the Bank of India. She has also been a really good liaison with the WI and the Community Centre which has made organising events so much easier. We all wish her well and want to say very many thanks.
LEGACIES
In 23/24 we had the benefit of a large legacy from a supporter’s relation and have used this to sustain an even flow of funds to Raksha over the past two years. If you know of someone who may want to leave something of real life-changing benefit please let me know.
THANKS TO DONORS
Most importantly I must thank all the donors who have supplied the money to make all this happen. 99p in every £1 goes to India as expenses in the UK are minimal. The Team also greatly appreciate those who donate by monthly Standing Order which provides a baseline of certainty and lessens the burden of fundraising through events. It’s crucial and invaluable. Thank you all very much.
