To promote, improve, develop and maintain public education in and
appreciation of the art and science of music in all its aspects by the
presentation of public concerts and recitals; and for Ihe general purposes
of such charitable bodies or for such other purposes as shall be
exclusively charitable as the Committee may from time to time decide.

During the current period we have put on four concerts"_
1. 9th November 2023 St Botolph's wrthout Bishopsgate featuring
music by little known female composers
2. 14° D￿mber 2023 in St Botolph's without Bishopsgate our
usual Christrnas carol concert
3. 21# March 2024 in St James. Sussex Gardens perfomiing JS
Bach's St John Passion with professional soloists and orchestra
4. 13" June 2024 in St Botolph's without Bishopsgate perfomiing
psalms, folksongs and spirituals
5. 131h July in St Botolph's wrthout Bishopsgale a day workshop with
some guest singers
The music for all con￿rtS was prepared in weekly rehearsals with one all
day ￿hearSal for three of them.
Concert audiences were between 80 and 200 with concessionary tickets
available for students, etc. The audience members are a mix of regular
attendees and those new to our concerts; all comment on the high quality
of the performances.

Posters, publicity and programmes were designed by choristers. All
commtttee members devoted significant time to organising the choirfs
activities. All singers do private practice and preparation of the music
before rehearsals.

Achievements and performance
We gave four successful concerts during the year with the Bach St John
Passion being particularly notable and well ￿ceiVed by a large audience
of around 200. Our aUdIen￿S have slowly increased over the year as
people retum to nomial activities afier the restrictions imposed during
Covid.

Reserves are held to cover any losses we might make on a concert and ,
in the case of the St John Passion to subsidise the cost of the
performance. principalty engaging professional musicians as soloists and
orchestral players and hiring a more suitable larger venue.

## **The Orlando Chamber Choir** 

This set of accounts for the financial year 1st August 2023 to 31st July 2024 (Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss) has been prepared on a receipts and payments basis. Accounts for 2021/22 and 2022/23 were prepared on an accruals basis. 

The accounts were prepared by Daniel Bamford (Treasurer, Orlando Chamber Choir), and have been independently examined by Jonathan Langford.
